I missed that esoterica drop, which is fine, I stocked up on the sobranie which is the only one that I know I'll enjoy. I was more concerned with getting some of the Sam Gawith stuff, gonna age some FVF for at least 10 years
I read online that Bob Runowski was going after the old Philip Morris Bond Street with this. Not even in the same county. Bond Street had powerful licorice casing. It was as flavored as Mixture 79! I might not have finished the one pipeful of Pegasus. I love white Burley, but this stuff was just plain bland.
One of my all time favorite blends. I laughed out loud when you smelled it and said you didn’t get much because that’s the gods honest truth. For me there’s something enticing about this burley blend as an easy-going, all day blend that gives you some vitamin N. I am a former cigarette smoker and if you took the black cavendish out of this blend you would essentially have the archetype of an American cigarette blend (only with much higher quality leaf obviously). Maybe that’s why I enjoy it so much. Thanks for the review Brian.
I really enjoy this blend in the mornings with coffee. It’s a no nonsense blend. I will say when I first tried it I wasn’t a fan but as I kept trying it here and there it grew on me and I grew and understanding of the blend. The esoterica blends I stopped chasing them. Got a few and I don’t ever seem to reach for them so I’ll stick to what I like. Have a good weekend.
Good morning and Happy Saturday my friend. Nice looking pipe there. I agree, that green stem does look good on that. I am enjoying some Bayou Morning in one of my Doran pipes. That rain is coming down pretty good over there. We are getting snow. Have a great weekend!
I like this as a blend to smoke when I'm doing other stuff. It's real meat and potatoes. Sometimes you need something that doesn't distract you. Thanks for sharing!
I wasn't a big fan of this one either. I do love haunted bookshop, and I have had burley flake #3 and didn't know if it was different enough from haunted bookshop to bother getting more. I was wondering if you could let me know the main difference between #1,#3, and haunted bookshop. And is it your opinion if it's worth having them all, or just having one of the 3, to scratch the same itch. I also much prefer haunted bookshop to old Joe crantz, and how do you think it compares to the others? Thanks for the reviews either way if you feel like answering or if you don't want to bother.
I keep trying new blends, wish more of the ones i tried didn’t bite me so much. Don’t often want to give many tries to a blend that irritates the mouth. Happy smokes!
@@beans316 I’m just sensitive now in that I can tell pretty quickly if a blend is biting, sometimes it’s more halfway through the bowl. I usually drink water or tea. But I’ve learned it’s for worth smoking blends that are actively working against you😂
Thanks for your impression. I sold my esoterica because I needed the money but I did like tilbury. I smoke 3 Sails mostly, talk about one dimensional! That pipe is cool!
For a while, Pegasus was my absolute favorite. After a couple years it has become more one dimensional to me and I don't smoke it as much. Having it now though with your review and liking it again.
I've tried this one. It was just ok for me. Glad I had a sample and didn't buy a whole tin. I've not tried any Esoterica blends yet. Doesn't bother me. Have a great weekend Brian.
Thanks for the heads up I’ll probably skip this blend …I’ve been following you along this burley journey and I think you may have stepped over to the dark side….haha. Might be time to revisit some of the great G&H vaburs
Evening Brian, i just finished a tin last week and i have to agree! Well its not bad it certainly did not call for refill. I like how c&d burly is done much soomther than sutliffs, and that leads to another remark is knowing what type of tobacco you like from what company as to me mac baren virginias are different from c&d or k&k. I tried some esoterica blends and they were not the be it all tobacco to where i pay aftermarket price for indeed and i am much happier with other available blends. Have a great weekend brother
@@ahmadsadikaljanabi yes my friend it’s really weird not sure what happened but the pills worked with the way that blood looked we thought it was definitely bad

had it awhile ago now, wasn't memorable but I don't remember disliking it either, i might revisit the cellar for it and check in, was wondering if you grabbed any of the usual christmas blends this year? Cringle 2022 or Seattle pipe club christmas spirit ect have a good one!
Great review Brian. I call Pegasus my working on my Hog” blend lol, I didn’t run for that esoterica drop being there’s so many better blends out there AVAILABLE! Cheers
This one has Burley bite for me. I got this blend because I thought it would be similar to 8 State Burley which I love, but was disappointed with Pegasus. I won't be getting more of it.
Brian, your take on Pegasus was pretty much the same as mine. The background on it was that the late Bob Runowski created it as an homage to the old Phillip Morris Bond Street, which I well remember from the 1970s. Bond Street had a strong licorice casing, along with, maybe, Bourbon. It was essentially a competitor to Mixture 79 from Sutliff. Pegasus had no flavor or aroma at all. Something to burn if you need a smoke. Have a great weekend, my friend!
I got sent a sample of that one time and wasn’t a fan.. I’ve had about 8 esoterica blends and the only one I liked is Dunbar.. The esoterica tins I have remaining in the cellar will be my last in my lifetime probably.. Too much good tobacco out there to be chasing mediocre overpriced blends
@@beans316 I'm looking at one of your pipes on ebay it's brown looks like a stump..I want a pipe to remind me of my black bear hunt I went on in Maine..can you put a small wood arrowhead on that pipe and put a date on it? I will pay for the extra work
My #1 blend. Just has this perfect balance to it.
Glad to see you stop by old friend hope you’re doing well?

I have some bulk gifted to me and it was fine...sort of grab and go, knowing it will be OK.
Yeah I hear you it’s ok maybe I’ll let it sit for another month and try it again

I recently tried this and to my surprise I really liked it!
I’m surprised you like it do you like Haunted Bookshop?
Nope. But that’s why I said Pegasus surprised me. 2022 was the year c and d blends started agreeing with my palate more. 🤷🏻♂️
