You are right. There was also more open racism so there was a better understanding of the psychological tools used to keep us divided. Now You can come across an article on your phone and that can affect your self esteem, changing how you interact with black people. In the last few months there have been demonstrations for teachers, nurses or police officers ... but that is easing again. When I first came to Jamaica in 1973 no black Americans were coming here. Now black Americans make up the largest share of American tourists. Why because so many of them can afford to. The black middle class has grown so much in the last 50 years. Yes there's still racism in America but blacks are so much better off now at least the ones who work hard get educated and live by rule of law.
