    My oldest daughter is an ESTP. When she was little I told her, "you have to listen to me unless I ask you to sin. But you, Smarty have to figure out what sin is and have a good reason." She loved that. Raising her has been a blessing. I give her the projects. She digs in. She has accomplished so much. INFJ mom here.

    I had an ENTP manager for ten years and in the beginning she could frustrate me with the many ideas which were impossible to implement.
    With my knowledge of cognitive funtions I learned to understand ENTPs just like to brainstorm and it does not need to lead to something actionable.
    Today, I just enjoy watching the process and sometimes ENTPs do have great ideas I can implement. They usually don't have the patience to follow through so we make a great team. - ESTP

    I am an ENTP with several sensors on my family, which I trigger them with my Ne all the time. The way I explain to them how Ne dominant works is that our thought process is way more important than the result. We do not care for the answer, we care for how things work and how people think, therefore we share our thought process because we naively believe that the other person cares about it. Just like every type, we humans share and project our dominant over others thinking that that is what people want or should do.
    The reason we do it is because we want to help people understand where we are coming from, rather than giving an answer they might misunderstand which is probably one of our biggest fears, being misunderstood.

    thats really interesting what you're saying about sensors approaching theoretical topics from a sensor perspective! I always thought that was how it is, bc obviously sensors are able to talk about abstract concepts, they have to be lol, just like how intuitives are able to do sensor things.
    for ex i've always thought Joe rogan is an ESTP, but many people type him as ENTP and I think thats because he's often talking about abstract topics on his platform, he often has intuitives and often N dominants on his podcast, but this is what makes his podcast so successful and interesting, is that each time someone like Jordan Peterson or Elon musk talks about their intuitive understanding of a topic, he quickly brings it back to reality by asking concrete questions. he has a lot of opinions and a lot to say, and has clearly spent lots of time thinking about these topics, but he is able to bring it back down to reality over and over again in these conversations and I think its partially because of that that his audience is able to follow along easily and many different types of people can enjoy his podcast! super interesting.

    Basically, I learned that, Se doms need abstract ideas to have a concrete analog. If the idea doesn't have a goal to be practically implemented then it will be seen as a waste of time.

    I majored in Physics during my Science degree at University. 'Negative' particles aren't actually, objectively, concretely negative. It is just a label.
    Physists could have reversed it and labelled electrons as 'positive' and protons are 'negative'. Or labelled electrons as having a 'white' charge and protons a 'blue' charge instead. Etcetera.
    I do not know what you mean about negative frequencies in Physics - I haven't heard of that idea before.
    In terms of 'negative' events in life, I think they are subjective, and different to an objective, physical characteristic. One single negative event can also experienced radically differentally depending on the observer. For example, if I am lost and starving in the forest, I might be very excited and happy when I finally spear a small animal. But it will be probably be in pain, suffer, and have a negative experience -INFJ

      I did say I had an extremely rudimentary understand about physics. But cool for teaching me something I guess. But you missed the point which was to highlight how a different type would even approach the question.

    • @mattevans8090
      @mattevans8090 3 роки тому +2

      I had the same thought as commenter. Even if he missed the point- that was one of the supporting claims of your argument, so I think to be logically sound you’d have to replace that statement with another phenomenon in nature that is inherently negative.
      I think that you’ll find if you try to find and example you actually prove the intuitive theory that you were claiming you can kinda see but is hippy to actually be valid. Thus you intuitively grasped the concept, however you had some sensory reality (the negative particle concept) that basically blocked the confidence to assert your intuitive understanding. Basically because you’re ESTP 😂 also as a fellow ESTP not trying to be a dick at all, I think you’ll understand 😎

    Negatives don't exist in nature. Yes, electrons are negative. But in reality, electrons are a thing, and protons are a thing, and they interact in a certain way. However, we could say that the proton is negative and that the electron is positive, and we could successfully describe their interaction this way as well. Math is just a framework used to understand the world, but it's completely abstract. Anything could be described as negative or positive depending on the point of view, so nothing can be concretely described as negative. They don't actually exist, they just depend on your point of view, like your left and right. I'm still trying to figure out whether I'm an ESTP or ENTP, and I know my answer sounds very ENTP like, but maybe it's just because I study a lot of physics lol

    At 7:00 I would like to comment and say I feel that. That’s like the new ageism spiritual stuff that doesn’t have any practical application. I’m a Christian ESTP though and I found connecting to my higher self is connecting to Jesus. He made people in His image so when I connect to Him by talking to Him, I’m connecting to my true self. And then stack on stack thanksgiving to Him for everything I have and all that He’s done for me. And it’s all biblical. Give thanks to God for He is good. For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 136
    Also at 16:00. Yes, I love to encourage people and cheer people on when I hear or see how they are going somewhere with their lives. But, as the Se being so observant, we also can spot when people are doing it out of pride. And to me at least, I don’t respect that and won’t honor that in them, no matter how successful they get.

    My immediate thought was, “in what context?” Second thought was “is anything in nature bad? Then no, nature is chaotic and without the chaos we wouldn’t be alive”. I didn’t think of electrons which is kinda the obvious choice. Like 🤦‍♀️ how did I not think of that? So idk? I suppose that’s a “N” answer.

    I'm an INFJ
    And I've learned that ESTPs are our shadow functions
    I've realized that I have somehow in childhood developed the ability to access that part of me.
    I had a friend who for some reason - just the dynamic of our personalities or whatever- when I was around her or at her house I would be in my ESTP functions....(relatively, like if a ESTP walked into the room I would revert to INFJ because my ESTP would be weaker) I think I just was That comfortable with her in that way and I think she was EXTREMELY introverted and beta... But as soon as we parted (we went to different private schools, but live across the street from each other) I would revert to my INFJness...
    I've never been able to duplicate it ever since.
    But I think that experience in childhood has allowed me to Really understand what exactly your talking about, since I've embodied that way of being at some point in my life when I was still developing. And inside I feel this way about the concrete, too, a lot of the time, but it's like a weaker little part of me that cannot be let out because INFJ is the primal stronger one and more reliable.
    It is like a multi-personality in a way.
    And it makes me say things "I just know" more often than most INFJ probably because of that connection with my duality and NO ONE understands that.

    The story about asking the yes or no survey question made me laugh so hard. Ne dom and aux users really throw me for a loop with how creatively they interpret questions. I too even as an INTJ put up conditions around questions for them. Especially with NFPs because their Ti is so low they have a hard time deciphering truth so they can’t even tell if something is actually yes or no. I will play it out in my head and will often reach a decision where I feel like it’s not even worth asking if it’s going to take so long to go over. 11:46, I felt that

    Hey! I really liked this video and I think S types should be more involved in the mbti community because as an NF, sometimes I feel scared to approach an ST type because I think they won't get along with me just because I'm too idealistic, but I like to think I can take a joke. I almost want to say dark humor is funny when it hits you in the face with the reality of the situation. Anyway, I wanted to ask something about what you said about ESTPs testing of someone can handle reality. Would you say that if you find someone who passes the check in a healthy state, but then is going through a tough time and is a bit more sensitive that you'd just give them there space or do you think that might hurt the relationship in the long-term?

    Could you give another example to the NeSi / SeNi point you made? I did grasp what you were going for I think and the Se experiment part was understandable but like, what does "taking one fact in reality and blowing it up" look like outside of instagram that you would find annoying? Like if we had a discussion about let's say hitler. What kind of argument would you make and what would the Ne person say against you or vice versa? And would your argument always have its core in "it doesn't matter because..." or would it sometimes be otherwise u think?

    The way you formulate things is concise and easy to follow- typical Se-Ti in my experience :)
    Also, something funny-- I've seen the same kind of mouth-movement in other ESTPs haha, it's really weird and also hard to explain, but I actually do have one concrete example; Mikhaila Peterson, Jordan Petersons daughter- she's an ESTP aswell, and you both seem to have this weird smiling tension in the corner of your mouth even when you're not actually "smiling" per ce
    Just a fun observation- a very arbitrary one.

    9:30 - Regarding the perspective on getting critique of the class you're in, that's also a very similar perspective that my ENTJ boss would have, it's just reasonable and might be something shared between most Thinking judgement types, it seems like a very logical conclusion to come to.
    10:30 - This made me laugh. I actually had to help interview someone for the first time recently, I hate it, I don't like grilling people or putting them in an uncomfortable position. Luckily, I was _with_ an ESTP co-worker and he mostly led things for me and I just backed him up a bit with my area of expertise. Disaster avoided! Though and interesting note: at the end of the interview my co-worker said he wanted to immediately disqualify the interviewee for not having his camera on, and I really like my co-worker, and I respect him deeply, but I felt kinda bewildered by why not being able to see his face mattered, and my coworker said he just didn't feel like he could trust someone without their camera on, and I can see why he'd think that, facial expressions and appearance can tell you a lot about someone, but it didn't really occur to me at all.
    12:23 - That actually kinda reminds me of a recent questioning of a TikTok representative by Senator Ted Cruz. Let me be clear, I am _not_ a fan of Ted Cruz, but he made that TikTok rep _sqqqquirm_. It was so funny! The question was basically about whether or not TikTok shares their user data with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which they almost undoubtedly are, but yeah... he was like "Yes or no question! Which is it?" Anyways, yeah, I appreciate people who can negotiate situations like that, I certainly can't.
    18:30 - Ahhh, so that previous thing I mentioned about my coworker during the interview makes a lot more sense now!
    20:00 - Just lol. I'm not an ESTP, but I get anxious when I feel like I'm not making progress against _something_ or moving forward in some way towards a goal of some sort, even when I fall into depressions I try to let my emotions push me towards doing something to fix my situation... though, not every problem is something solvable, sometimes it's just a matter of coming to accept the situation and move past it.
    21:30 - Regarding the "maybe it's a boy thing"... yeah, though, I've met some very physically confrontational women in my life, but in my personal experience it's rare. I do think gender and hormones can play roles in what some people think are personality type things.. when I explain personality type to others, I start by talking about Dario Nardi's findings; that personality type exists largely in the neocortex of the brain.. but under all of that are bunch of other aspects and functions of the brain, like sex/hormones, gender identity, sexual orientation, personal experiences, and overall mental health that all come together to produce a unique individual... so sometimes the way a given person of a type behaves is the result of all of these systems combined, and not _just_ specifically the personality type... isolating those things from each other is tricky though.
    I know I'm a year late, but thank you for this video! It gave me some insights into my co-worker that I really appreciate. Thank you!

    As an ENTP here’s the actual intelligent answer, i.e. not a meme answer, to the negative question.
    We do need to define negative because the label of negative is arbitrarily applied to certain things, such as electrons wave frequency, and direction. The idea is we need to define the polarity, or opposite nature, of different objects.
    Electrons are negative because we said they are, but protons could be too if we had reversed definition originally. What matter is that they are clearly in opposition to one another so one is negative and the other is positive. We as a convention chose which is which.
    This isn’t meant to be a physics rant, but is meant to say Ne can easily come to the same conclusion. It is likely going to come at it from the direction of definitions and explaining why convention defines things one way or another, not by taking an example and just saying that is proof enough.
    I felt like her example made me die a little inside so I wanted to share.

    Kate, you contradict yourself when you suggest Sensors can enjoy a discussion on theory/abstractions just as much and Intuitives when you follow by telling us how annoyed you are by abstract points for self-improvement which you insultingly refer to as "faux deep".
    First, I would bet the author of that article you site did not think of the topic as some how profound or deep when she spoke on "Self-care tips that you can start today" "...connect with yourself, create life balance, stack gratitude" at 6:40-7:45.
    You can't have it both ways Kate. Sensors like you are obviously annoyed by what intuitives may see as insightful articles (not deep). Now, of course the over use and triteness of some gets old but that is not what you are annoyed by. It clearly bothers you that they are not "actionable" as you say. So, you in fact, do not enjoy "just as much", talking about theory or abstractions.
    Wouldn't you agree?

    • @dustbitten
      @dustbitten 3 роки тому +2

      I’m an INTJ and I don’t really care for the type of self-care content she presented either. It’s the type of content I would say is appealing to neurotics but it has nothing to do with the abstractedness for me. I can easily see how a sensor might find someone telling them to connect with themselves as a way to communicate ‘take time to focus on you’ as
      faux deep and it has nothing to do with not appreciating theories, ideas, or hypotheses. It’s entirely to do with communication preference. She never actually said sensors can appreciate _abstractedness_ just the same, that was just you making associations that didn’t exist. 3:01, 6:21. If you want to help somebody you want to be as clear as possible. From a concrete perspective, saying connect to yourself is pretty ambiguous.

  • @LelaBria
    @LelaBria 8 місяців тому

    And the style of communication of ur thoughts and ideas , I just do not see or hear Fe tertiary at all. Which third function is usually in competition with first function for the most obvious right away. But I literally don’t see or hear any Fe tertiary in this at all. Estp don’t want to improve people by being disgusted and checking up and having judgments about what they’re doing like that lol I can’t imagine estps taking it so serious. The improvement is more in a , share wisdom they could take on if they want to solve whatever issues you might see could make them stronger like as people. Telling people what they’re doing is nasty Bec you think so lol is a personal belief and subjective opinion as opposed to a hyper objective potential solution to a problem , but there’s an impersonal non judgmental vibe to estps that doesn’t come across here to me idk. Maybe it’s just the video or something
