@@lecturionursing I’m in my first semester of prerec’s so this won’t help me now but I’ll definitely be investing in this program once I’m in nursing school!
Excellent tips! Time blocking, spaced repetition, flashcards and question banks, and teaching others are all essential tools for active recall! Can definitely vouch for these methods 🙌😊
The video I really needed. I’m struggling in nursing school and I feel so discouraged. I even thought of dropping out because I don’t feel confident enough. Thank you so much!
Never give up!! Even though it seems impossible after every phase and exam are over you’ll feel more and more confident and it gets easier as you go, overthinking and dreading failure are the two big hurdles in nursing school so be more confident and pull through, you can do it 💪
I m feeling too discouraged like I dont know I feel like wasting time but I feel like to continue coz I have nothing to do rather than being in nursing...all I can do is to be in this thing rather than being in depression
Nursing school is so hard and it's not for everyone, and we aren't usually taught *how* to study. But you don't have to do it alone :) With a little help from our learning science experts at Lecturio, you CAN study in a way that feels sustainable and is proven to increase your knowledge retention. You've got this, Abigail!
@@bigdi9085 We have tons of resources on our social media, blog, and our free lectures that can help you decide if nursing is still right for you. Either way, if you've been feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, give yourself a little break (because nursing school is no walk in the park!) and allow yourself to seek study help, mental health support, and rest. You can do this!

5000 medications?! That seems impossible? I wonder how many medical professionals remember half of all of the information for those after 2 years. Good thing you always have books and the internet. 😂
In nursing school they expect you to remember everything about the medication like treatment, purpose, mechanism, generic and brand name, route, antidote etc. But when you finally graduate and start working, thank God for the internet! Nursing school makes everything harder.
@@nutella4220 Good luck! Pharmacology really is challenging especially when you get into specialities of pharm like OB and psych. I graduated nursing school last semester. Each school definitely has their own ways of doing things. Miki is great, love watching her content! 😉
They don't, this is why we always have resources where we can obtain information regarding meds, side effects, usages, etc (like online libraries when you can familiarize yourself with drugs prior administration). Also, we have pharmacists (hospital environment), and they can provide us with guidance regarding dosages, how to administer/prep certain drugs, etc. It takes a whole team to treat patients and maintain them SAFE, not only doctors... or nurses.
Currently a 1st year veterinary nursing/tech student. This video came just in time for midterms this week! I’ve been using active recall to study and I agree it’s a super effective and time efficient way to study. Wishing everyone luck on their exams!

Hey Miki, I just wanted to say I love your videos and I found this one super helpful! I'm a nursing student in New Zealand and sometimes I feel very overwhelmed with how much content there is to learn - I feel so much better prepared after hearing your tips :)
a nursing student, about to take my country's nursing council qualifying examination. wish me luck!! great video btw, great tips. could totally apply them now.😍
Wow i’m still at the part where she mentioned the 5000 drugs… i’m currently in nursing school and i don’t think the drugs i needed to memorize surpassed 500 and we’re not required to memorize the brand name because each company has a different one and our lecturer told us that it’s too much to ask from us because even she doesn’t know all the brand names since knowing the generic name will help you figure out what the drug is anyway 😵💫 also i had one pathology course. Should i be concerned 😶
omg same!! i can only recall limited drugs but have adequate knowledge on the classifications. so once i know the drug classification, i already have an idea what it's for and how it works. we also had 1 pathophysio class, but the concepts are always brought up in other classes so we can somehow gain mastery.
i guess it depends on the school. I'm a nursing student in Nigeria (about to take my qualifying examination in less than a month from now) and we did study a lot of drugs in pharmacology, but it was broken down into systems; genitourinary system, cardiovascular, integumentary, etc. and we were tested on generic as well as brand names, depending on the tutor. 5000 was probably an exaggeration, but, yeah, we studied quite a number.
I remember thinking in nursing school: How could I possibly learn of all of this! It really helped to understand, that maybe I didn't have too...??? I also think there is so much over time that we learn as nurses. Thanks for sharing!
I also struggled in nursing school and that nursing is not for me so I have decided to not study or major at all and decided that I could chose something in the medical field that I could focus on one thing specifically instead of being a general nurse which you need to study a lot for and remember everything. This is my journey where I am trying to find myself what I really want to study and build a career on it since I am in my second year of college
