From the Basque Country to the Canary Islands, the cycling in Spain is always excellent. It's also nearly always mountainous with stable weather, making it the perfect choice for many pre-season training camps.
If you're cycling in Spain, which climbs should you go for? Europe's longest road climb, the Pico de Veleta? Sa Calobra on Majorca? The Jaizkibel? Well, we couldn't decide, so we narrowed it down to 10. Is there one we've missed? Comment and let us know.

I did the veleta together with my father and a belgian guy, who was 'allowed' to go cycling twice during his 6 week holiday by his wife, back in 2014 when I was 13, by mountbike and partly off road. It felt like the most amazing thing ever, and currently, whenever I do or plan to do a clim I compare it with the Veleta.
Looking forward to the Top Ten Spanish Mountain Bike Climbs video. They will be even more brutal and epic.
Can't wait for the Vuelta to start!
Mount Teide is just outstanding and a must visit when in Tenerife. Take a trip up the volcano via the cable car, well worth it for some world class views of the surrounding islands. but take a jumper or two its cold up there even in the summer :)
I had thought you had included Serenity Climb on Gran Canaria, but has it been taken out? The other climb worth mentioning the famous VOTT on Gran Canaria, the hardest section is from the tunnel to Ayacata and 10.6kmDistance 9% Avg Grade 433m Lowest Elev 1,394m Highest Elev 961m. You'll need to put about 80km in of long rolling climbs to get to that, and then about 30km home with more climbs. Let me know if you want more info or google pez cycling + VOTT
Canyon have a really good system where they offer you a frame at a reduced price if you crash. Get in touch with them and see what they can do, in my experience their customer service is excellent.
I'd say that the Port Du Tudons is a harder climb than Coll De Rates. I ride them a lot and with Tudons you can go from the Villajoyosa beach pretty much on a steady 35km ascent up to 1010m with 7% finish. Coll de Rates descent is fast as Ballan found out to his cost this winter. check out pelotontours who run trips to the area.
That would be the top 14 then right? ;-) No, some good suggestions there, thanks for the comment!
There are a few companies that will repair the break in the frame. Calfee is one I know of. Do a little research and you should be able to find a company that's suited to your needs.
Ah man, that's tough. Don't ride it again as cracked carbon is exceedingly dangerous. I'd suggest getting in touch with Canyon to see if there's anything they can do about it.
Me too!!!
You should do a video on the best climbs in Britain so that we could go ride them more easily
And "El Turó de l'Home" is interesting too. Is like 20km and 7 or 8% more or less. ;)
What about Penas Blancas in Marbella?
I really appreciate your work, but to be honest some of those aren't the most significant climbs in Spain. Some people have given some advices about more interesting climbs. I would also consider Portillo de Lunada, Estacas de Trueba and Portillo de la Sía (in Cantabria, exactly located in Valles Pasiegos region) as three of most beautiful climbs I've ever seen. They aren't well known for a lot of people, but the atmosphere & peace you can find there are unbeliveable.
Do the same, but with the best French climbs!
You need a top 100 just to cover the most significant climbs in Spain and a top 500 to please every Spaniard commenting here :-).
Bola del Mundo ; MAXIMUM ASCENT PERCENTAGE 22% ; DISTANCE UPHILL 21.8 km;
HIGHEST POINT: 2257 m
You want good climbs? See this race in Portugal "Love Tiles Douro Grandfondo".
The road is called the col du soller, not just soller as this is just the town
For number 9 first you say it's in Costa Blanca but later once you start the no 8 it becomes Costa Brava :)
I'm beginning to think they forgot to add road between global and cycling in their channel name.
