      Geoff, I had my knee replaced after being shot and developing arthritis. And I should have had the procedure done sooner!!
      Tip: Until the scar tissue is "broken", the beginning of your P.T. is going to be the most painful, roll up a washcloth bite down on it and let the therapist go for it!

    Yes, HR, I believe the “claw” (which I believe is sometimes also called a “wing”) is designed to increase IWB “concealment,” by increasing “inward pressure” from the best to the body . . . I know that’s “as clear as mud,” but I hope it will suffice.

    • @hrfunk

      I get what you’re saying. It strikes me as somewhat “gimmicky.”

    • @J4CKWR4TH
      @J4CKWR4TH 2 роки тому

      It is gimmicky. The idea is to artificially shape your waistline to conceal the grip/magazine of your pistol. The main problem is that people don't normally just have thicker right sided guts so you still stick out lol

      I agree. I don’t carry IWB very often. However, when I do I have found that simple, small, soft leather holsters with a single spring-steel clip are the most comfortable (for me - this isn’t a generality). Of course, they work well (again, for me) with small, light, thin sidearms, but not too well with “service sized” ones.

      I've seen videos where Jedlinski from Modern Samurai Project used velcro to attach a piece of a yoga block to the back of his aiwb holster and it seems to improve the comfort quite a bit for cheap. Maybe you can try that. Since people come in different sizes and you lost a lot of weight (Go Funk!) there are different sizes and angles of that claw thingy. The main idea is turn the grip towards the body that sticks out the most. It would make for interesting and quick videos to see different options of attachments that improve one's holster instead of creating a big pile of holsters instead.

    • @dalekidd420
      @dalekidd420 2 роки тому +3

      Specifically, the claw is designed to push the grip of the pistol inward against your body, so that it will not tend (as it naturally would) to print against your concealment garment in AIWB carry. Different holster makers use somewhat similar versions of this to achieve the same effect.

    I love crossbreed. In fact, my first ever holster was a crossbreed minituck IWB. I would carry it in the 4;30 position. With my Gen 1 Shield 9. Then I got a Shield Plus and was still able to carry it with the same holster. It has been the most comfortable holster I’ve ever owned. Recently I got a Steamlight tlr6 for it and I’ve stopped using my crossbreed. I also started carrying appendix but Crossbreed don’t make light specific holsters for it. So I had to find a different holster for it. Great video, Sr.

    HR,
    Very appropriate subject for today. I got my Master's Cross Draw holster yesterday. I haven't tried it on yet, because I'm wearing sweat pants at the moment, but it look really well made, and fits my 1911 Commander perfectly. In reading the package, they are made by some company called JBP Trading Inc., and marketed as a Master's holster. This holster is very small as far as taking up room on the waist, and I'm sure it is going to be very comfortable when I get around to using it with a belt. The Reckoning holster is very interesting and seems to be almost infinitely adjustable. The people at Crossbreed have really done their homework. I am like you in that the Rogue does not look like it would be very comfortable. It's just way too big and has too many things that would poke you while you're wearing it. Might not be too bad as an OWB setup, but definitely not as an IWB.
    Cheers,
    Zeke

    • @hrfunk
      @hrfunk  2 роки тому

      Thanks Zeke. I suppose if I’d gotten the Rogue for something small like the Hellcat, it would have probably been less uncomfortable as an IWB.

    Thank you for this video. I own a crossbreed iwb holster for my hellcat osp with holosun 507k, threaded barrel and Tyrant CNC unicomp (I've seen your video about not modifying your gun and I want you to know I still respect you :D) but the point is its a lot of furniture and I have been able to easily (and I do mean easily) edc my gun because of the holster. The leather backing makes 12+ hours with a gun *ALMOST* comfortable. It's held retention well in the 14 months I've had mine, even with thick black gouge marks from repetitious practice all down the front of the leather face. If you ever wanted a random suggestion on which iwb holster to buy, you can get a lot worse than crossbreed. Your video here was obviously very germane to my interests and having just found your channel I wanted to share and say thanks. So Thanks :)

I suspect that means I’d have to buy the Hellcat Pro in Pennsylvania (to receive the discount), and then have the firearm shipped to a local FFL. In the two Crossbreed holsters I have owned I have found them to be excessively abrasive to the finish of the pistols they were designed to fit. One is for a S&W Shield and the other is for a Gen 3 Glock 26. I understand Kydex is not the most finish friendly material for a handgun holster but in the case of the shell for my Glock, it received a good scuff mark on the top of the slide, between the front sight and ejection port, the very first time used. This model holster had no retention adjustment available so it was the shell design itself that caused the irreversible scuff mark..
    After that I learned a solid lesson and have never again purchased another Kydex holster of any kind for my handguns. Although more costly, lined-leather has proven to be the holster material for me.
    Nice video. I hope the holsters work out for you.

    HR I have and use daily the Crossbread Supertuck IWB that I carry my G-27 in and I have not had any issues wearing it for hours on end while walking around or driving cross country. I carry it at the 3 O'clock position. I also have one for my Ruger EC9 for when I travel to places that have banned "high capacity" mags. In addition I bought 2 of their "purse" models which have velcro type patches on the back that I use in my riding vest so I can carry while riding my motorcycle. I think if you try one of their leather backed IWB holster you would like it better than the plastic one.

    Still my least favorite style of carry.

    It's just not ideal for me.
    OWB, shoulder, and chest carry is my favorite.

    I can't stand bare inside the waistband carry, it rubs my skin wrong, the stippling is like sandpaper on my Glock 17, don't like it... But I still carry inside the waistband I simply wear an under shirt, I prefer the under armour ones and I just wear the tight-fitting flexible thin under shirts just to keep the gun off my skin, And I do that currently with an all Kydex holster and it's comfortable for me, And in the winter I switch to a thermal under shirt.
    As for the claw its very nice for iwb, It pushes the grip of the gun closer to your body and keeps it tight against you rather than sticking out to the side proud of your body and making a bit lump under your shirt.

    This was an excellent review. I'm considering purchasing my first owb holster. I am leaning more toward some type of paddle holster but can't decide if I need one with retention like a level 2 thumb release or something or if a regular kydex friction retention owb like the one reviewed would be sufficient. It would generally be under a cover garment since I don't open carry, but I just can't decide. Any concern with no additional retention aid on an owb cc rig?Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    • @hrfunk
      @hrfunk  Рік тому +1

      Since it's going to be carried concealed, retention devices are less important than if you were going to open carry. Chances are that no one is going to attempt to disarm you if they don't know you were carrying a firearm. I would not worry too much about a retention device. For open carry, that is another matter entirely.
