This is way more serious than something I was looking for.
But hey, that's not a bad thing.
fr
tfgh for movement is crazy 😭
Fr
Like bro the movement was f up
fr
You have by far the most logical and fact based content. I’m totally here for it! Very informative. Making the switch from controller to kbm. I’ve been playing since og season 2, so not going to be easy , I use back buttons. But I know kbm is more optimal. I look forward to seeing how I progress, and learning more from your videos.
Same but not sure if I should use these binds?
Are you?
6:10 if you moved your hand over to the right one key, then your pinky's resting position would be on C, rather than X. This resolves conflict with fortnite hard-coding item drop to X. Plus you can now use your pinky for sprint if you wanted to.
moving one more to the right has additional benefits - your thumb now can easily hit right alt, and can easily be "tucked in" to the left to hit space bar. it's a dope setup, allowing your thumb easy reach to an additional key.
as somehow who switched to these binds cold turkey, and have been using them for a month, and am better than I was before after four years of playing - *yes*
your thumb should be favored over your pinky; use the UHJK setup over TFGH (don’t know if all the letters are right, but U should be at the top)
no
@@callmeqt1269could u give me ur binds please?
@@isaibustillos7293 Why would you want someone else's exact binds? Some binds should be made dependent on the size and shape of your hands and how strong your pinky is, which varies from person to person. I followed the recommendations in the video and spent a day playing around with the optional bits based things specific to my hands and playstyle.
For instance, I have my SMG/AR space bound to G because I like to follow a direct shotgun hit by spamming crouch with the period using my thumb and simultaneously using my pinky to hit the G, but some might not have wide enough hands for that, and my pinky is stronger than average because I play the guitar.
@@DrunkenHotei yeah nvm I got my own lol
I tried kbm about 5 months ago and decided to stick to controller. I bought my son a keyboard recently so I decided to give it another shot so we can both learn at the same time. just started the switch to kbm yesterday. So glad I found this video. Spent 3 hours working on this, with a little tweaks here and there and it is a massive difference than the traditional style, I will definitely stick to it this time. Especially pared with the settings in the edit faster video, I already see massive improvement. Thanks!
How is it going?
hows it going
@@marz367 was going great until I let my son borrow my keyboard. When I buy another one I will continue the progression
@@BenFoilHat Lol
Isn't it a disadvantage to have One Finger on a build and edit?? You got to switch quickly between the 2 buttons? For example Y and H.

I literally didn’t know most of these things you showed in this video thanks. I never used my scroll wheel but now I do!
no cap crazy, gonna try out but seems kinda confusing ngl, great vid btw
Thanks Sly Jack! I have really been improving with these binds because I have been struggling as a KBM player, but with these binds I am getting better at Fortnite where to the point where I am into champion league. thanks for helping me out man
Wait really bro
I love the complex bar, so just make it so much easier to do faster movements
This is seriously overkill, AND I LOVE IT
it's his 3rd video iteration on optimal keybinds too. it's years in the making.
this video went beyond expectations lol. Helpful!!
I'm switching to mouse & keyboard joystick from controller. Selecting my binds was a little easier as I use my left thumb for all movement. I found the part about using one bind for a combat/build/edit function really useful as it cuts down on the overall number of binds needed. It also makes switching from controller a lot easier as I'm used to one button performing multiple actions. The only thing I find slightly awkward is having my jump on mouse side button along with wall, but its optimal as my thumbs always on it and I don't really have to move it to use my wall bind.
No way this guy learned that fast lets be real
@@BotKiller.R did you even read the comment? LOL
letf control for jump & shift for crounch, no more
@@BotKiller.R He said "keyboard joystick" that is a fairly easy transition to make, I was playing fine within an hour.
Tried these binds and they are insane thankyou these are the 3rd set of binds ive learned and its improving my knowledge of the game
They helped a lot thx man
really helpful! thank you! (you just gained a subscriber) :D
slyjack is the master of concise communication. every statement is SO lean, no fat.
Neat phrase. Thanks!
Thanks bro I changed all my settings and it is good thanks for your hard work in the first 2 hours I could do a 90 and a triple edit on maps thanks so much❤
Wow 🤩, what a video. Is searched for this video so long time, thanks a lot
ive been using tfgh movement for a while and everyone was thinking its weird but my thought process is more buttons being used
This was very helpful thank you
This feels really comforting on my hands bc there tysm
love this video. always been a controller and used this guide to chose my fn binds. after awhile decided to use my little finger as move forward and and back because i know its my weakest fingers (side note in LoL my R- has always been my Q as its the least ability used in game and I can touch type) great format.
Isn’t having to hit both your edit button and your stair using your index finger non optimal? Also if I bind my place builds to right mouse button, would I also have to rebind my reset builds to something else?
Iwl this my first day on Kbm and it’s already feeling kinda nice thx for the vid
thx for all of it man
Pretty sick, thanks. I shifted to where my index is on J and pinkie is on F. EZ to find cuz they are ribbed keys. +, thumb rests on SB, right near Alt and reload stays on R. Well thought out friend...
Good vid man keep up the good work
First video I've seen from you and it's honestly impressive ! I'm going to try this.
Thank you for the video it helped a lot, ill be back in 5 months when i learn these new binds and qual for fncs
Any update?
Update big bro
Wow good explanations i have to try this
Good video I want to go from playing controller to keyboard and mouse just because it’s much better and has more options.
this was done masterfully
bro got me stressing over here like i wasn’t tryna find the formula to rocket science i can’t remember allat but preciate it
Really nice vid about binds😊
2nd day on kbm binds are crazy just lil different but lovin it pinky hurts lol w vid
Ive used a thumb button as my edit for over a year but finally switched to an index finger key, time to build some muscle memory.
I love it so much and I got better thank you so much btw I sub to your Chanel
I might have to do this next season
I play fortnite on controller but just ordered my first gaming keyboard and mouse. Gonna try out these binds when it arrives
Best video I've seen on this subject hands down
As far as which button to bind "place build" to, a side mouse button is better than any downwardly pressed mouse button such as right click or middle click.
This is because when you press down, you change the effective friction, if you recall your high school physics lessons. And unless you're an absolute zen master, you probably tense up and push the right click button down hard in a panic. With the side mouse button, a tense grip doesn't affect your mouse movement at all.
A side mouse button held does not increase the normal force downward onto the mouspad, so you can fluidly move the mouse around while doing your crazy builds, such as when you do long distance mouse flicks downward to place floors or do ramp edits while walking over them.
i would love to see you make a video of your keyboard binds, you seem to really know your stuff.
@@jeffhill1213 you know, maybe i will.
the top mouse button or the bottom
im just switched from controller.i wanted to ask if thats fine to have your edit and confirm edit on the same bind as he said so?plz answer
6:28 you can use sprint and jump at the same time using your thumb, you need to put your thumb on both keys
I'm about to switch to KBM and this was perfect to watch
YO THANK YOU SO MUCCCHHH!!!!
been playing on tfgh since chapter season 1 x and always gotten called weird for it. got good on the binds i have but feel this might be the change i need to get back and have fun on this game will update at some point!
I used your original keybind video to try and give myself an idea of my binds. I optimized them a bit but now I'm really looking to optimize them more. Any way you could take a look at my binds and give me an idea of what you think I should do to optimize them completely? I know some of it already but im very used to some of my binds so i cant be as creative as i want with what could be the best ones. I could donate some money to you as well for your help. Not sure the best way of getting ahold of you so I figured this comment would suffice lol
GREAT vid!
really good video damn
I need to try placing builds on right click. one downside which comes in my mind is for taking walls you have to press both clicks so you have to get used to that.
How would u shoot
@@sessmy5259 still left click. aim down sights probably with caps lock. but I guess I wont try it😂
@@tuoimunt7407 it dosent change ads. It’s still right click. It dosent mess with anything except “change build material” which is by default bound to right click, that I did change to caps lock
I can tell it took a while, mixed with a lot of planning N scripting to make this. I learned a lot, but I had to rewatch the vide at least 4 times to make sense of everything; it was more than i was expecting. Overall, you did a great job, because I leered something. 😂😅
i was struggling with doing triple edits and now that i switched to right click place build i can easily quad
Best video ever I’m committed to get use to this
How are they
I'm not a Fortnite player, but I'd like to try. I've always thought the default keybinds were nonsense and always get stuck trying to make them better. Thanks for taking the effort out of it.
Update: These are too crazy for me, but I'm using your principles to design my own. I want to at least keep some muscle memory from other games.
@@Eirenband always utilize global principles to devise one that fits your idiosyncrasies.

I would love to see you try and incorporate a joystick in one of these videos. maxxstick is pretty nice

ve seen your movement bind recommendation, and did like my way, im from brazil, so sorry for my bad english

w- foward
s- back
a- left
q- right
Caps-lock- Run
L-ctrl- crouch
then i build
l-shift - roof
v - stair
md5 - floor
mb4 - wall
D- edit
E- Pickaxe
then i trade materials in the dpi button of my mouse and put the builds in the right click
i use the same settings been on then for a week thats crazy hows the progress
do you have any tips on relearning the movement, crouch, and target buttons
*I switched to these keybinds cold turkey about a week ago,* and I haven’t looked back.
*tl:dr below* and update at the bottom
It was such a great choice and I recommend it to literally *anyone* who finds themselves frequently annoyed by either limitations of their keybinds or common mistakes/jams where something is awkward/overworked.
For me, the main issue with my old keybinds was movement. Now, I can literally do *everything* except pull out a floor while being able to do *all types* of movement (I still have full WASQ control while selecting the floor).
I initially had these two small problems (but they go away): running to the right and selecting a pyramid with your pinky is awkward (but entirely doable - keep in mind I play piano so my fingers can do and reach things some people’s can’t), and the other thing for me is scroll wheel resetting a wall and then holding it. I use one of my mouse buttons for my shotgun, so I shoot, then use my pointer to scroll, then have to select my wall which is another mouse button, and then have to hit right click to build my wall in case they shoot. If you try doing this sequence on your own you’ll get it.
tl;dr if you have any major complaints or consistent frustrations with your keybinds, I say just switch. These keybinds I think are the best keybinds possible without using a thumb joystick.
update:
It’s been a month now and playing about two and a half hours a day I have completely relearned all my binds. I am *so* far beyond what my old skill ceiling was, and an infinitely better builder, editor, and overall fighter than before - by a crazy margin. Keep in mind I have always been in Champs - I was not a bad player before. I totally recommend the switch if the stuff above applies. I’d recommend using U as your forward bind (and just shifting everything over by one key to the right) because your thumb is more dexterous and strong and it can’t hit much with the T as forward movement bind setup. I think it’s better to favor your thumb over your pinky.
Final thoughts, though - I fully endorse the binds and switching to them. I have literally *zero* complaints at this point. Not one.
i'm decent with my mechanics and decided to finally switch. been on same binds for 3+ years. Would you say it's worth? My previous binds were complete shit but that's just what my brain got used to
@@brady4442 if the “previous binds” you’re talking about are your current ones, absolutely
Good comment
i play piano too😄
thats actually super true ( favoring thumb over pinky)
I'd like to hear your thoughts on the MaxxStick
Im planning on switching from controller to mbk so i might as well go all for it
yooo i changed to these settings and theyre way better then my old ones bc my old ones were not good like my point finger was used to press like 5 or more key yk (thanks soo much @Sly Jack)
this is the most optimal unoptimal keybind video I’ve ever seen😂 reminds me of trickshotters playing octopus back in the day on cod. ( aka crab on crack )
this guy sounds like the most understanding person in the interring world jit would be a great dad tbh
Having both strafe buttons on the same finger is horrible for other games. In CS, val or apex you nees to change movement directions quickly. doing this with one finger isn't viable. but for fortnite i suppose it works
make both bottom for straffing and both top for up and down👌🏽
@@redokeo3221 bit of a late response, but you wouldn’t be able to move right without taking your index finger off of the forward key, unless you you hit both at the same time using the same finger (which is just awkward imo)
Strafing is not as important due to being able to build on-demand cover, and with multiple keys to be bound, while CS:GO will punish you for moving .01 m/sec. Just different means to win each game which results in different keybinds.
i hate the movement keys but i understand your point & well i can't even run right well cuz im too dumb :)
switching to knm and using this immediately
I’m about to start playing FN on keyboard and mouse and I think I’ll start with using these binds, that way I can get used to them immediately and learn them from square 1, and I am coming from controller with little previous pc gaming experience, let’s see how this goes!
You probably won’t get use to them immediately, because it’s still a huge difference from controller.
Probably, but if I start with optimal binds it will be easier to let used to them when starting fortnite so I don’t have to change them later on
@@faloob progress?
@@blaaper I originally had set up all the binds he showed and then had tweaked a few of the less important ones that I felt would work better for me personally, and the binds I'm currently using (modified version of the optimal binds where most things didn't change), are actually working surprisingly well, I don't notice any notable issues other than reaching onto my keyboard to press a button just to scope in on someone, but that has to do with my adapting and not really the keybinds.
smart man.
I focused on keybind layout before even trying to get good at the game, because i knew getting used to bad binds would only make it harder and make me more reluctant to switch to better binds.
When the slate is clean, be thankful and capitalize on the opportunity to put in a thought out architecture, instead of entrenching it with messy, haphazardly unthought-out foundations that will be hard to uproot.
I just can’t see this being worth it, I’m thinking of changing to optimal binds after literally years of the same binds but if I were to do that I’d just change 2 of my builds to mouse button
Few hours into these settings but for me personally I changed 3rd weapon slot to U instead of 7 because its further and i put my SMG there so when i switch from B (shotgun) to U (SMG) i have to move my index finger less distance and its faster, I made reload 7 instead
How is it now?
@@RonaldCabrera-bc6uu i changed back to my old binds after like a week it wasnt for me lol i made other changes

Is your edit on release on or off?
6:20 you also sometimes want to press V to view a weapon's specs.
This involves your ring finger, which is used to move forward.
So you want to bind auto-run to something to free up your ring finger to press V, to make the transition smooth and seamless. If you assign auto-run to another key on a ring finger, there it'll result in an awkard stutter where you stop running for a moment as you let go of forward to hit auto run
So I use middle finger, on B key for auto run.
edit: Since augments came out, I now use pinky (S) for auto run -> ring finger (E) augments. This results in a nice smooth, seamless transition, where I never stop running, and my hand doesn't go into any awkward motions or straining.
It's just as smooth for for auto-run (S) pinky -> map (Z) pinky. (you just do a little pinky circle on the keyboard)
idrk about this, have never ever had to use inspect and I've been playing since season 2
I’m just switching to kbm. I’m really struggling with just getting all the key binds set to something to get at least started in the right direction. I’m wondering if you could help me.. I’ve always been on controller and the key ins screen is confusing. Is there any way you can send me some screenshots of your keybinds? That way it isn’t so overwhelming when trying to enter them in myself.
@@taylorghash listen I know with the video you just saw and everything people are commenting, shit can be very confusing, but trust me you don't need these keybinds at all. Ever noticed how less than 1% of pros use exotic binds, it's cuz they're overrated and not only unnatural but overly complicated. Assuming you're also playing other games, it's extremely impractical. Just use WASD, normal keybinds for most stuff, and generally just what feels comfortable for you. Other's binds will never feel as good as your own, just start with default binds and play around with stuff once you feel comfortable.
@@naebbenaeb that’s fair thanks man. I think I’m going to just move the wasd over to the right to esdf that way I have some extra buttons to the left to hit. I just want someone with pretty decent keybinds to be like ok dude use these for a while and make variations. Any way you wanna share yours?
@@taylorghash ESDF is very good, gives your pinky finger (possibly ring finger too) more keys to press. If you have side mouse buttons I'd recommend at least using one of them for wall or stair, you can do both too if you like, that's what I have. As for floor, I'd say something you can press with either your pinky or thumb, so something like shift/z (pinky) or v/c (thumb). For cone you just use the opposite of what you did for floor, so if v/c for floor, you use shift/z and vice versa. For sprint take either whatever would be under your pinky build, or take whatever would be to the right of your pinky build. The rest doesn't really matter that much, but try that and play around with stuff you don't like
yo, fr i tried the binds in this video at the start of this season and i improved a lot, i recomend all of you to try change some binds, maybe thats what is holding you back
Took me less than a day to get used to wasq, I thought it would take me a lot but you were right
do you have edit on release on ?
are you still on this settings ? cuz ive seen latest videos and saw different keybinds...
i changed all settings, hope to improve by now on lmao
Oh common ofc I don’t have side mouse buttons on my mouse 😭 is there any other good place build binds?
Can you please do a video showing us you exact keybinds
Is it possible to get double edit keybinds set up with this?
Get this man to 1 mill subs ❤❤❤
Isn’t having to hit both your edit button and your stair using your index finger non optimal? Also if I bind my place builds to right mouse button, would I also have to rebind my reset builds to something else?
the reset build put it to scroll down and secondary building edit to scroll down AND now u dont have to press ur edit bind to reset ur build
I use T for pyramid R for wall the front side button for stair and back side button for floor lastly F for edit do you think I should change
Im on day 3 on these keybinds and Im already working on piece control and retakes. I can do 90s and thwifo cones and box myself pretty decently. I've spent about 15 hours in 3 days on these keybinds. I was already a really good player before switching keybinds so maybe its coming easier to me than most. One tip I have is to go super slow, try not to mess up and focus on muscle memory and hand coordination. I say every build piece out loud to help my brain get accustomed to these binds because I never used my thumb, pinky, or mouse binds to build previously. The one thing that still fucks with me is pressing R to go right, I think this will take me the longest to get used to while simultaneously pressing other keys. I will comment on this in a week maybe less
how is it going?
Keep us updated

i just did that and im getting used to it good for me i guess
I just switched from controller to kbm and I want to try optimal keybinds since I have no muscle memory on keyboard but I struggle a lot for the movement
Do you have any tips to get familiar with the movement on keyboard ?
Keep playing bro, i struglled hella but in the end i got the movement down, the brain learns!
tnx
I posted a comment asking this a year ago and it was so bad I eventually quit fortnite but now that im getting into it again I would love to know a fix for this. Using the example key binds I can not jump while moving left and forward or right and forward. I also can't jump while sprinting or sliding.
I'm gonna be moving from switch controller to kbm in about a year. I'm wondering if these are good beginner keybinds, or should I look for something easier?
Since you said a year I might not be too late 😭 I don’t suggest these as a beginner especially if you have prior experience playing on keyboard for other games
