Can confirm that DX 12 runs smoother. Actually, in my experience, DX 12 has less stutters than performance mode.

I'm not sure, I do not know how you conducted the tests, but usually when changing dx from 11 to 12 or vice versa, the game recompiles the shaders and therefore there are problems with 1%.
Jeez look at the ram usage maybe thats why my game is a little stuttery on dx12 bout to try 32gb hopefully that helps
Bro man I wish performance mode would be fixed. I am forced to use dx12 and is a lot ALOT smoother than performance mode or dx11 because of the drops and 1percent lows exactly like you show in the video. I use a 390hz monitor so I wish performance mode is fixed so I can take advantage of my monitor. I use 5800x3d and 4090
Dx12 works way better than perf mode i get higher fps on perf but it stutters completely unplayable ( On ryzen 53600 Rx580 16gb ddr4 3200 ram speed)
its recompiling the shaders and all, give it a few matches where u just run around, then its fixed
How do you have the same fights on both of them? Also performance mode on my rx590 is the worst option out of all of them, constant frame drops and can’t even get to 75% of dx11 for highs (especially the moment I move my mouse it just drops). Also lower your game volume or increase your mic volume, the parts where you speak I can’t hear you so I increase the volume then when you stop talking the gameplay is extremely loud so I have to lower the volume but then when you speak I can’t hear you that good so I increase the volume again and so on

@@mightbenizar ah, can’t believe I didn’t notice that, but the movements aren’t the exact same as normal gameplay? They lose some detail and you can see some weird jumpy movement between animations, wonder if that changes anything
@@YHK_YT I think the idea is that its similar enough to actually playing the game to be valid as a benchmark cause everything needs to be rendered and run by the game engine. So it taxes your cpu, gpu, similarly
In my experience, DX12 gets more stutter on multiple games I have tried. DX11 is smoother and more consistent.
Prob cause you don’t have a 40 series card

You have to play the game a lot on Dx12. What this guy isn’t mentioning is that Dx12 takes time to store the renderings in the game. So at first the game will run a bit laggy but after it’s the best mode ever. It’s even better than performance with more customization. If you’re on a RTX or High end AMD card, definitely go dx12. Just play the game
dx12 is designed to run the game with mutliple cpu cores and utilizes your gpu's vram to avoid cpu bottlenecking

So everything in Epic with DX11 runs at 60fps but in DX12 with Epic runs at 20-40fps (without Lumen) and has more loading times
whats really weird is that i have been experiencing stuttering in somegames with dx 11. Switching dx12 fixed it a lot in some of my games
Same, I have an amazing setup but switching to dx12 on fort at least, smoothed out all the stutters
I have acer nitro 5 8gb ram and currently using dx 11, should i upgrade it to dx12? Does it have any bad impact or is it worthful?

@obin-YT oh, so in conclusion its not recommended for 8gb ram to get dx11? Because i can run high graphics in dx11 nicely but around like 60 fps thats why i wonder if playing high graphics in dx12 might boost it up, wouldnt it?
Regardless, you will stutter but you should still try to get 16gb if you can. You will notice big difference and shouldn’t cost you much
I play on DX12 with high settings since i have a good system (RTX 4080).
But whenever i set the “Effects” setting on “Epic”, i still get the same performance but at the most random moments my fps drop to around 40 - 0 for a second.
Happens like 3 to 4 times per match, but still gets annoying as it sometimes happens during a fight. Anyone familiar with this? Or what should i do?
To play dx12 good you have to go with AN amd GPU like an rx 7900xtx

Yes and no, all depends on your hardware and if your like visuals over fps or fps over visuals . You can still get nasty spikes on performance mode

My understanding is that Performance mode is still DX11. I average over 400fps on performance mode at 1080p but I struggle with poor 1% lows & stutters. On DX12 I get about 250fps average but the 1% lows are MUCH higher for me & the stutters go away. Maybe others with different hardware will have better luck with performance mode than I have, I'm running the 5600x3d CPU with a RTX3600.

dx12 is good but i feel like the game has significant input lag
It does have more input lag.
DX12 will also be worse feeling the first few matches as its loading the textures and saving them to file for use when they appear again.
first time playing on dx11/12 it will feel shitty, but as you keep playing it will be smooth 😃😃

dose anyone know how to get fortnite to be playable and not stutter like a slide show on dx11 or dx12? i can play the game in performance mode just fine, but its lags and stutters so bad in dx11 or dx 12 its not even playable.

Most likely your cpu or ram is dying, I would buy new ram first, to check if it still happening
Fortnite is known for this the optimization is non existent i get worse fps on performance mode and get higher on dx11 but it still stutters like a mess i use dx12 now it did stutter when i first started using it but now after a while everything is fine
Dual channel ur ram. get more ram. Make sure temps r good. Play on dx12 for a while it uses a training thing and gets better overtime. go to game files %appdata% and delete the fortnite game folder then relaunch the game. Try verifiyng files.

Yes and no higher frame rate isn't always better and were the 0.1% are terrible in dx11 it causes stuttering and spikes.
Basic ass fortnite player thought process. Higher FPS ≠ Smoother, better gameplay. There is an enormous difference between the 1% lows.
