That sitting room was lovely. 'Things exploding from shelves' It's like she's against books in shelves. I think those 2 rooms were major good selling points.
I could easily see that this was a beautiful home, even before the staging was done. I am not sure why other people could not see. They could have left the builders white. I agree with decluttering the kitchen, making the living room more of an inviting sitting room, adding the home office downstairs and repairing the back step. The rest was not necessary. This was a lovely couple. I hope they were able to sell and move to a home that suited them more.
Exactly; the issue with this house is the proximity with other houses, the garden exposed north and the staircase that could scare families with young children. You can probably get better for your money, especially its this house looks far from everything;
I find it hilarious when these people that live in $400,000 houses with multiple bedrooms and huge house is like we need more room we want to have kids and these huge bedrooms just wont do.....LOL Not this video specifically but just in general when they give a reason to move.... Our whole house growing up would fit in their garage....lol
They claimed they wanted to be closer to work. Why did they move there in the first place? Change jobs, or what? I hate the green & lavender together. They go from white to ugly.
Remember, they stated they wanted to move because of their commute times. They are young, so they may have obtained new employment recently, that took them out of this area.
The facade of the house has something to do with it not selling....also a kitchen island doubling as breakfast nook would add the needed workspace to the kitchen
Love the living room color and look. I would have made the dining room table dark wood though. The bedroom is nice except for those little things flying up the wall. A nice picture or something would be less tacky.
I don't want to view a house filled with someone else's furniture and vision of what the house "can be". I prefer to view a house that is empty, not even "staged" with rented furniture. I want to see the house ..... I want to see empty rooms because it them makes it easier, for me at least, to envision MY STUFF in there.
That’s only possible when no one lives in the house. Also lots of people have no imagination and want to see a potential lifestyle, especially when they are upgrading.
@@malamalinka Well, of course. I was merely making a statement regarding the concept of wanting to see THE HOUSE" not someone else's vision of how a house came be a "home" ..... hence not wanting to see a realtor's vision by "staging" rooms with furniture that is either rented or left behind after the seller has moved out taking only what they want to put into their new house.
Even though these episodes are a number of years old, I'm amazed that popcorn ceilings were still being used by builders. I thought those awful things went out in the early 90s.
They were easy to spray on and a lot of builders cut corners and didn't bother to tape and mud ceiling joints because a couple heavy layers of popcorn cover hid the lack of workmanship.
@@jannibal9273 Oh, I understand why they were first used. But to keep using them after it was generally acknowledged how awful they are... That's what I don't understand. I guess it simply comes down to money. If people still buy new houses with popcorn ceilings there isn't any incentive to stop using them.
I would like to adopt the young man who fixes things! He would make a wonderful addition to my 5 sons! And could teach them a thing or two! Glad you kept the piano as that would have been a draw for my family. The bedroom was a great change!
I thought the transformation was amazing. I especially like the showstopper chandelier over the dining room. I myself love a bit of room jewelry. Everyone else seems tired of green, but not me. I love it!!
It is good to see that Sophie has ditched baby blue wall in her makeovers and instead is now using more appealing neutral colors such as grays and whites... big improvement!
I prefer white walls. Cannot stand mushroomy/beige or grey walls. The first thing I'd do is repaint it all white.Purple walls, purple curtains, horrible neon green ornaments. All the house needed was decluttering and room repurposing. The dining room light fitting is hideous. A buyer would have to get rid of all that. Who would want a grey living room and a purple bathroom?!
Advertisements pushing white sheets which you can never get back to the perfect white after about 5 washings just drive me nuts. I'm not paying through the nose for white sheets - from ANY company! Boob lights ANYWHERE in a home - really, people, you need to erase them. A decent lighting fixture may cost a little more than 3 for $25 but you put it up and it's there forever. Boob lights - everybody hates them, makes fun of them behind your back and knows exactly how much you paid for them because the savvy ones replaced them with something a bit more individual and slightly upgraded. You don't have to spend a fortune to find nice light fixtures. If you're on a really tight budget, try the Re-Store in your area if you have one, or "second hand" stores, consignment shops, and "antique" shops. Never hurts to check out salvage yards, either, if you are a bit more handy and don't mind repainting or refinishing, or paying for some updated wiring on say a fixture from the 1920s.
I don't understand attaching the garages but not the house part. It seems odd. It's like the builder couldn't decide between town house or detached homes.
How things change. The decor of that house completely fits with today's white and black trend. All it really needed was a declutter and some curb appeal.
I cannot believe how much STUFF they have accumulated at this early stage of their lives!! All those bookshelves are overwhelming, so crammed full of STUFF!
Love everything except those greens!!! Looks hideous. The reason this isn’t selling is not the decor. Generic designs and a battery of McMansions with almost no backyard don’t appeal to a lot of buyers. However, the house has pretty good finishes.
@@TJo-vb8tg Kind of reminds me of a furniture store, where the stager is obsessed with an individual color, instead of utilizing a variety of complementary colors. There was so much green it felt like the twilight zone.
Really makes sense to put empty boxes instead of books on the bookshelves.. With books your guests may think you re more clever than you are:P.. Being sarcastic here .
Sometimes it is a matter of having bought many, many years ago at a much , lower price and now that property values have risen, BAM! they have a house they can get $400,00 for. My boss and his wife bought a house in the early 1980's for $180K. coming up on retirement they didn't want to have to worry with yard work and exterior maintenance of their home, so they bought in a condo community ..... a free standing house condo ..... they sold their home for 1 million+ .... enuf to buy the condo with $'s left over to do renovations to customize for their needs/wants (a million+ new home) That is one way one can afford to have a $400K house ......
I bet if she walked into this house now, she'd laugh at the fact that all the rooms are different colours. That sure dated quickly. The first thing she'd do now is paint them white again.
That table sticks out like a sore thumb. Couldn't they find one that matched the color of the other furniture or painted it to match? The green is horrible. Lime green was on the walls of this house in the living room through the open kitchen. I almost didn't buy the house because of it. We couldn't do the painting & walls needed repaired & canned lights replaced - huge vaulted ceiling. Ugly green.
@@chrissyb7916 true, but I noticed the nasty green was all accessories and would presumably be taken away by the seller. I’d much rather have seen a nice French blue for the accessories, but I guess some people like green. Just not me!

It's like she's against books in shelves. I think those 2 rooms were major good selling points.
She’s also against babies. She once turned a nursery into a guest bedroom. And there was no crib in sight in the entire house.
It drives me nuts that there's no follow up concerning a sale.
