Our prayers go out to your family for your loss. Lost my father in law in jan. This year, he was my father figure since I was 15 yrs. Old. He even drove for me for 14 yrs. I've had trucks and heavy equipment 39 yrs. I found a little gas on a rag hold it by the breather does a good job and is gentler on the engine. But that's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions!! Stay safe love your channel watch every chance I can. Brad from fla.
Dear schmit family I would to send my condolences to you and your family. I salute you brother for keeping this country moving enjoy your time off I know someone’s gonna be hard but just know little bird is going to be get a deer soon and that we really appreciate you guys necklace please pray for my health my spinal cord and spinal issues are really bothering me.
Summer in a can can be a life saver! I remember when I was a little kid my grandpa had a diesel Ford tractor that if you get below 20° it would require a small squirt of starting fluid sorry to hear about your grandpa!
loving the video mr Schmidt and as for FIRST CLASS she just needed to cough and clear her throat and boom off she went glad shes singing again and im still loving the mirror cam angle my dad told me when he drove lorrys 50yrs ago when he drove lorrys up in Scotland he had to light a fire under the diesel tank to stop the fuel gelling and clogging up the injectors imagine doing that nowadays lol hope little buds hunting trip went well stay safe out there from joff in the UK
Sorry to hear about your grandpa, you were calm and cool with the truck not starting,I thinking a few videos back when you was fueling up in Texas bringing that fuel north might want to put some additives in there, good luck little bud hunting
Sorry to hear about your Grandfather. Good luck with Little Bud. I remember stationed in Alaska years ago when the mechanics wouldn’t even shut our equipment off to change the oil. Just pull the plug start pouring new in and when the new came out put the plug back in
Hi, Kurt. Thank you for a great video. 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit A similar process takes place when diesel fuel begins to crystalize during cold weather. When the weather is close to 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit*, gelling starts to occur and can clog the fuel system (*depending on the source and quality of fuel, gelling can occur as high as 20 degrees Fahrenheit) . I found this on the web. Take care all of you and please keep safe.
Ha Ha, in the north of norway, Finland or russia they pre-heat everyting. For a great cartepillar ground mover they use a flame tourche to warme up things, even the drives. "John" age 77
Been there "sprayed" that. Air cleaner on passenger side spray extra then quick run to drivers side turn key. Now we plugged em in but sometimes someone would "borrow" your cord . Life in the big city of Minneapolis/St.Paul!

I am in Texas and I have had too go to the shop at 1:oo in the morning and get the trucks all running so they could get on time. It was snowing and freezing
Our trucking terminal had outlets by all the docks. Each truck had an extension cord to plug them in. The outlets were on a timer, so everything was warm by the time that the drivers reported.
They call the answer,Engine heater plugs.🤪.Man,back in the day, have had them freeze up going down the road, shut down right where your at.Crossing Wyoming one night, negative 5 below my old Cab Over Pete shut down, crossover fuel line,I didn't have any additives in it.Man I built me a small fire under it,no kidding I did.Didn't burn the truck down, but got her going.😁.Now that's old school.😂.Be safe my friend.Later.
How ya doing Mr. Schmidt, good ol winter snuck up on ya but that's okay you handled it. I remember my brothers big sleeper freightliner c/o had a big cam 3 400 cummins in it, on cold days when our truck struggled to start the engine had a compression release lever which let the engine spin free causing it to make friction thus assisting in it's ability to start but it was never cold enough to gel the fuel. Best of luck to you and lil bud on your hunt. Stay safe and stay loaded.
And that is why i always found holes in top of pistons on rebuilds when i worked at the Cat dealer before I retired.. A generator and ext. Cord to the block heater is cheaper then piston or valve replacement
I used that and either to kill gophers, i'd go probing the ground near a fresh dug outlet, when i stuck the ground and it gave way i knew i had it's tunnel. I'd spray about a 1/4 to about 1/2 a can step back and drop a match, sometimes the ground would shake a little. The gopher would come running out on fire or the gopher holes would stop and that's how i knew i got it.
Hope you and your son had good luck hunting and again sorry to here about your grandpa see if you could find a bone yard with a fifth wheel assemble that is not to expensive stay safe to you and your family
Hi. I'm Peternwilson from Ontario Canada. Wondering if you thaught of putting a wabasto heater on. Start it up 10:00 at night in the morning your cab is 76 and your engine is 150 degrees. Only uses about 1 or 2 gallons in 8 hrs.
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 I had mine on the side of frame behind bunk. Then it was mounted in the passenger side step. Some others found room right behind bunk. All depends were you have a little space. I'm retired now after 45 years and if I did it again, I'd never leave home without one.
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 engine heater is meant for about 2hrs to warm up the engine. Circulating pump drains batteries, don't save your fuel from gelling, gotta use additive or #1 type thing.
