Wow, this project has been going on for over a year, almost two, and I am immensely proud of each and every participant for their patience and hard work. Great job everyone!
This map features King Gill and the life he had (that was shared to us in the series) before he was killed in the arena by his daughter, Tsunami, whom she did not know was her father at the time of his death

I adore the small detail of him looking over at her wings, Seeing the markings under them, just imagining the thoughts through his head as he quickly realises but it’s all too late as she snaps his neck
Anyone else gonna make a Headcanon that this actually happened?

Scarlet probably knew who they both were to each other she really was one of if not the worst queens yet

Gill spent his entire rule trying to do what was best for everyone, but he never got the results he had hoped for.
He did everything he could to protect his unhatched daughters from the unknown monster that was murdering them. He assigned trusted guards 24/7 outside, checked the eggs frequently, and stayed alert. But he would always end up finding the female eggs destroyed just as the dragonet inside was about to hatch.
During the SandWing War, he worked out a plan to potentially end the fatal struggle without more bloodshed. But he was robbed of that dream by an unknown force of dragons who had been playing the pieces and no one bothered to help him salvage it. His wish was shattered right before his eyes as he tried desperately to keep it together. But it was out of his control and his allies chose vengeance over forgiveness.
When he was captured by Queen Scarlet, he refused to fight anyone in her arena battles, knowing full well he was risking his own life in doing so. And for a while, it actually worked. His opponents backed down with him and he managed to keep himself alive without staining his own talons with another dragon’s blood.
But he was living in a world that simply didn’t allow mercy. At least not for him. At least not then. He was starved and dehydrated for trying so hard to be merciful, and ultimately deprived of all sanity. Maybe his morals and kind nature were drowned out by the desperate will to survive and the unimaginable pain he endured. Or maybe he simply had enough of trying to be a hero in a world full of greed, and he just finally reached his breaking point.
And so he died doing what he had always stood against: inflicting pain on others without remorse.
Gill did everything right. He always chose peace, he cared for those around him, and he never gave up. But despite his best efforts, it was never enough. He couldn’t save a single one of his daughters, he couldn’t end the war peacefully, and he couldn’t escape the SkyWing queen’s arena. He tried over and over to do the right thing no matter how many times he failed before, but he just couldn’t succeed with using peace.
Pyrrhia simply just didn’t want to be saved yet. All of his heroics… had been for nothing.
Very poetic.
That’s why life just isn’t fair.
This is also why Gill has one of the most underrated implicit character arcs in series.
He really should be talked about more often. Especially with what eventually became of him.
He at least told Coral he felt bad at rejecting turtle in turn letting his son know he forgave him and he was good king (compared to all the other king we've seen anyway) so I'm sure the Seawings will remember him well who knows if tui does an arc 4 in the future and we get a book on Auklet she'll might try to live up to his legacy

The realisation in Gill's eyes as he realises it's his long-lost daughter is incredible- the emotion conveyed throughout the MAP is amazing!
We didn't see very many scenes with Gill, but he still intrigued me as a character. He isn't really cruel, but he broke under stress and scolded Turtle too harshly and never had the chance to apologize. It's realistic. He was a good character, without much time in the spotlight.
Pay respects to Gill and how hard he worked to help the seawings. Wish I could’ve seen more of him
I've aleays found Gill as a character to be fascinating. He was a guy doing his absolute best to work for peace in the face of a world consumed by war. I think he's one of the most well written side characters in the books, and he stands as one of my favorite dragons.
I think his death was really sad, especially since Tsunami also (for a brief bit) refused to kill him, Gill, a dragon who met his own mental demise for repeatedly doing that exact thing and refusing to partake in Scarlet's Arena.
Gill is a really good example of how even characters that died early on can be interesting, and in his case, horrifically sad.
The more we learned about him the more devastating his story became.
Reading Tsunami's fight with the knowledge of who Gill was becomes a Shakespearean tragedy.
And this Multi-animator Project makes it even sadder! The idea that he saw the markings on her wings but couldn't do anything about it is absolutely gut-wrenchingly sad, and I fully approve!

I love this map so much. Poor Gill. The realization that one of his family members (he sees the royal patterns) is going to kill him. Great song choice to show his spiral to insanity. Well done everyone
I think Gill's death is the one that really stings the most out of all background/minor characters in the series, along with Abalone tbh.
Given how few good dads and just few kings in general there are in the series, his precense would've been so welcome. While he's certainly a flawed parent and king (but let's be real who isn't), in many ways he's the father Turtle and his brothers really needed in their lives as Coral outright neglected them, and he too was a king the entire kingdom really needed to counteract Coral's irrational executions and overall fear she places forth towards her subjects. He may be a strong reason why Coral may never marry again.
If given the chance to bring back a character from the dead, I'd bring Gill in a heartbeat.
He deserves to reconcile with Turtle and meet Tsunami, Anemone and Auklet 😭
That would be an awkward conversation...

OMG THIS MAP!!! I never realized it got released!! It’s great to see it though! I was Apple_A_Dayy :D ran into some personal issues so fell out of the WOF community but it’s wonderful to see this pop up on my feed!! Everyone did soooo amazingly (also dear GOD my art was so old this was so long ago omlll)
This map is amazing! You don't see a lot of gill maps and this is my favorite! I love how the map includes turtle trying to find someone(I forgot who it was) with his enchanted corral. I love when gill see tsunami's markings and realized it was his daughter. Everyone did so good!

I honestly love Gill. He is underrated. His backstory was so sad, he only wanted to be nice. But the way he was punished, it was so… creepy, eery and un deserved.
I never thought about whether Gill saw Tsunami's markigns before! That's such a sad realization, that your own daughter is about to kill you and there's nothing you can do to stop her or even tell her that she's your daughter..

I love this map, and hearing a new song, I wish Tsunami didn’t snap Gill’s neck, then they would’ve been a nice happy family- he was tortured by no water… so I guess they give him water and he’s all better? I feel sorry for Gill because at the last 5 seconds he noticed he wings, and then Tsunami snapped his neck. It’s all really sad, SOMEONE SHOULD MAKE A WHAT IF VID ABOUT IF GILL SURVIVED!

King Gill is such a tragic character when you think about it-
The question I always had about the particular scene where Queen Scarlet makes Gill fight Tsunami is, did she specifically set up that fight? Did she notice that Tsunami had the royal seawing wing pattern like Gill did? Is that why she forced Tsunami to kill Gill? To try to make her have everlasting guilt knowing she killed her own father? So many scenes in the books now have new questions like this I find. What do you guys think?

Wow, this MAP really got me emotional. The way Gill notices Tsunami's royal pattern right before she kills him, and how we saw his terrifying descent into madness... just wow. This MAP hit me on so many levels! The animators captured this story perfectly.

This has got to be my new favorite map! It’s absolutely beautiful, and it makes me feel so horrible for Gill. No dragon should ever be restricted from water, especially a seawing. It was such a cruel thing for scarlet to do. This map really shows his story,

OMG I can’t believe it I found you I had an old account and I commented about the same thing but I wanted to comment again to let you know that I’m still back ( I was Emily Emily) but anyway, I have always loved your videos and I used to watch them and of course I didn’t have UA-cam channel but I love them so much. I thought they were amazing and this was one of my favorite videos, and I always wanted to find the person that creates and I am seeing you and I have always loved and you have been one of my biggest inspirations of all. You are one of the best UA-camrs I ever saw and I’m just gonna say this, but you are probably the best person that animates that I ever seen. Of course there’s more but you just are amazing and put hard work into barely get any likes. It’s ridiculous you should be getting way more always appreciated and I’m so amazed that I find you again!!!!!!
The only thing missing is his reaction to his Queen's wrath on the guards. I just re-read _Talons of Power_ and it really felt like he didn't think it was the guards fault. The way he reacted to Coral stating to give the guards execution without even knowing about Abalone dying.... I think he was really horrified by Coral's actions. He never believed it was the guards fault and he was right all along. It wasn't like he could stop Coral from killing them either. As queen she had more power than him. I wonder if he ever felt helpless with Coral killing so many innocent dragons. He seemed like a good guy.
All villains have a backstory that we don't know about, Gill was one of the only who were heard...
