I would agree with Aldous that he had something of a 'gift' for writing. I liked 'Time must have a stop', Point Counter Point was my favorite.

I was not aware of his physical limitations with reading. This us the first time I’ve heard him share such a detailed description of his condition and the extra efforts he had to go to in order to gain his education beginning when he was a teenager.

I’ve read by him brave new world, devils of London, after many a summer dies the swan and island. He’s not the best stylistically or even from a talent point of view- but his ability to cut through the nonsense and streamline his stories with such precision is remarkable. He said what he wanted to say. Island remains the only book I’ve ever read that made me cry, which happened at the end.

Interesting to hear how he speaks and especially how he pronounces the word 'laboratary'. Was that standard or had living in the States rubbed off on him by this time two years before his death.

Joyce was right about his etymology of Odysseus being that in The Odyssey
Odysseus tells the Cyclops that, '"Nobody" from Zeus plucked your eye out!'''
Aldous Huxley was not in touch with the realm Joyce was in and considered
learning to be an acquisition of wisdom in a linear way, not super conscious.
