Beautiful! My 89 year old Mum listened to his Floe piece a couple of days ago and was vocalising along to the music, away in her own happy musically enchanted world. Thank you Mr Barton. Perfect.
Listening to these etudes is the first time I have been able to make any sense of Philip Glass. I have heard his work a few times on BBC Radio 3 and not been encouraged. So, thank you!
Very clean rendition. Glass almost always works best without overmuch expression; it's all about letting the patterns do their thing. This my favorite of the Etudes - followed closely by no. 11
One of my favorite composers, Paul ~ Thank you for this rendition. Hoping he sees/hears your channel for all that your family offers to the world. Paz y luz. ✨
Philip Glass is a friend of Denis Russel Davis, former conductor of Bruckner Orchester. Once they gave a concert of his composition...very good componist. Thanks for your beautiful performance...
Paul, would you consider doing a video/videos on Beethoven's 25th Piano Sonata? To me, it's underrated and very beautiful. It's certainly easier than many of the others but its "simplicity" makes it endearing! Cheers!
This is truly amazing. Like you're talking to electricity. No wonder you can do easier pieces standing on your head. I haven't seen you do any Rameau. Perhaps you don't like him much?
My fingers prefer it at a slower tempo :D There is an earlier edition of this Etude, perhaps that is the one you were sent? Andrew Chubb plays this version here - ua-cam.com/video/E0mfa_Zd4l8/v-deo.html
What is this supposed to be? A single pattern repeated over and over again. I was really surprised by the comments such as “amazing”,” I was mesmerized”. I personally was board to tears.
You must never have tried to play piano, this is incredibly difficult, it's not something an amateur could do at all. Unless the amateur was incredibly gifted and practiced for hours daily. Not to mention it is beautiful.
@@morgantaylor517 As a matter of fact I did try to play the piano but was never good at it. I do however, play a different instrument and can humbly say that I am OK at it. My point however, was about the entertainment value of this piece. But please don't say that it is just a study. A good study is one that is also entertaining and doesn't bore the student to tears.
So challenging to play - and so beautifully performed.Thank you, Paul!
Si Si es iuuuuuuhhh Uc
I miss your videos playing for the elephants! Probably the kindest gesture they’ve ever experienced from our kind in their entire lifetimes.
My God, Mr. Barton. You are so incredibly gifted, sir.

perfectly well played, just can't get Yuja out of my mind
Yuja plays this in her thong too fast, LOL
Ow wow!. I really have deep respect for people who can play this piano piece.
Is this what it's like to see a master at work? 🤯
Glass s one on my favourite all time composers. You are brilliant! WHat a delight from you both.❤️
Tried listening to other pianists playing the same piece and much prefer your interpretation. Hypnotic.
That looks really challenging. Kept my attention and I kept watching your hands. Oh that abrupt ending!

Interesting to see you playing the repeated notes with 1&2, most I've seen play them with 1,2,3.

Great performance- sure wish the ‘music’ was more like REAL music with ear pleasing non noisy non discordant note combinations.
This is truly amazing. Like you're talking to electricity. No wonder you can do easier pieces standing on your head.

I love Rameau! -- I need to work to correct this -- thanks for the suggestion!
I’m learning Glass Etude 2 Piano Solo
My fingers prefer it at a slower tempo :D

It's like the music was in too much of a hurry, there was no other way it could've ended
What is this supposed to be? A single pattern repeated over and over again. I was really surprised by the comments such as “amazing”,” I was mesmerized”.

So sorry you were bored to tears. Take care and have a great weekend!

That makes two of us.
