The Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station - Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Bangaluru Station AC Double Decker Express is a Superfast Express connecting Chennai and Bengaluru. It is the first AC Double Decker Express in South India.
This is the first AC Double Decker train B/W Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station and Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna railway station. This train uses LHB coaches. A Royapuram WAP - 7 locomotive, one of the powerful locomotives of Indian Railways, is used to haul it. WAP - 7 30332 of Royapuram electric loco shed got the honour of hauling the Inaugural.
This train comprises AC double decker chair car 8 & 2 luggage/parcel and generator cum brake van which is provided with the guards' cabin. Total coach composition is 10.
The train stops at Arakkonam Junction, Katpadi Junction, Ambur, Vaniyambadi, Jolarpettai Junction, Kuppam, Bangarpet, Krishnarajapuram, Bangalore Cantt. And the Train No.22626 also stops at Perambur towards Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station.

When I watched the Video of the journey between Londa Rly Junction and Belgaum as the train Alco Express chugs out of Londa, it certainly reminded me of my journey on this route 65 years ago when during those days the trains used to be hauled by Steam Locomotives. I remember travelling from Belgaum to Londa by the Mail in the morning hours and return back to Belgaum by Mail in the evening hours. Though they used to be steam locomotives it used to be fun listening to the noise and the whistles of these locomotives. These Engines were YC Models hauling all Mail and Express trains starting with 550 series upto 564 series. Drivers used to be mostly Anglo-Indians and there was one Parsi Driver by name Shruti or Surthi who was a Terror while he used to drive these trains and was the best. Can never ever forget those good old days;

I am Canadian and have never been to India, but these new trains look as good as anything we have in North America. The double deck cars look like commuter cars to me, but are for long distance travel from reading the description. Only 15 years ago they were still using steam trains.that dated back to pre 1947. But double desk trains are the way to go with India having such a large population. IR really needs to work on getting people to not lounge around on the tracks and run across tracks when trains are coming at high speed. In some clips on UA-cam there is even a pedestrian bridge over the tracks behind a crowd of migrating passengers who almost get hit. Darwin's theory at work.
Thanks for the reviews man... :) :) It is true that Indians are quite lazy and prefer a shortcut to success that often cuts them to their size... :( These double deckers are indeed quite amazing from the exterior but the interior design is quite cramped and the passengers end up with severe leg pains after a journey by this train.. I myself am a witness to this thanks to a journey from Bangalore to Chennai by this train :)

Dude u haven't been to India....bt m an indocanadian....ur Go trains r really not comparable to indian double deckers....so slow n messy and lets jst nt talk abt ur via rail which jst has 3-4 coaches....n fr d point of safety....even in Nrth America...people get on railway tracks even wid there cars n big trailers....so please before point out others look at urself first...
N ya about steam engines....dude canada still uses diesel locomotives n India has switched to electric on most of its tracks....

Bcz of this train legend BRINDAVAN lost it's AC coaches and pantrycar. SWR shud bring back the old status for BRINDAVAN.

PUT BRINDAVANSFASTEXP DEPARTURE AT CHENNAI CENTRAL
Seats are very congested..if you are fat then please never prefer the train..you should be standing for entire 5-6 hours of journey as you won't be able to sit in the seat. I don't have any other option as Shatabdi doesn't stop on krishnarajapuram railway station
Inaugurating train is not important.How it is maintained is important.See the condition of the double decker today.Though charging heavily don't they maintain it properly.
