Congrats to Chris D for winning the Austrian Audio CC8!
The CC8 sounds natural and open without becoming harsh or spiky, even at extreme volumes. The mids and highs are silky smooth, never exaggerated. This makes the CC8 the ideal microphone for the detailed recording of various acoustic instruments, such as stringed instruments, woodwinds and brass, and orchestral percussion, in addition, instruments like acoustic guitar, piano, snares, hi-hat, and entire drum sets.

What microphone should we review next? Share below in the comments.
Tlm 102, I got it and I don't like it!
I'm thinking of selling it to buy the mojave ma-300
Advanced Audio Cm28 small diaphragm tube mic :) i have the CM67 and love it!
Wonderful video by the way!
Sennheiser e614.
If you want to try really cheap mics, try Behringer B5. Even two capsules, Omni and Cardioid.
They were not bad at all in a test shootout.
Nice southern rock kind of song, and what a singer, and of course, great playing all 'round. The mic did a great job, too. Austrian Audio seems to be killing it with very useful microphones. Thanks.
They really are killing it. Really had fun with this one. Thanks, Lawrence
Honored to be a part of this! Sick track as usual :)
Loved your part! Highly educational
Awesome !!!! 🔥🔥
Honoured for you to be part of it! Let's do more!
@@leefchapman you Rock my friend!
@@guillemontalvan thanks ever so much!
What a track! So good to see you playing guitar again!
Thanks very much Lee!
Here from Ricky's channel! Amazing video Loved it
Welcome, Tonio!
Had TONS of fun mixing this track. Thank you, Warren for giving us the opportunity!
let s try this contest! cheers from belgium
Good luck!
Omg what an ear worn! Not usually my taste/style but that hook!!!
Ear worm 🐛 i meant, obviously
@@MrPipmeister haha! After a long time it will wear your ears out.
I'm still in disbelief at having won (or having been one of the winners of) the giveaway 😲 I'll only believe it once i get the tracking number for the package... Cheers PLAP & Austrian Audio!
Wow! Congratulations! Did it arrive safely?
Great sounding mic! You made a great choice to partner with Audiohaze. I found him a few months ago. He is honestly one of the best mic review guys out there even though he is new to this. He represented your mic very well! I would love to get one for myself one day!
Yes! We love what Ricky does!!
I’m here early!!! Hello Warren, I am doing marvelously well 😇😇
Yes you are! Glad to see it!
Man, that was a super fun track, I mean BAM right out of the gate!
We had a lot of fun too! Thanks for sharing, Wes!
I own a pair of these that I use for live drum overheads. The first thing I noticed about the sound coming from the speakers was its incredible smoothness. I boosted the highs a bit to get more sparkle, and sparkle I got -- with no harshness! I multi-track recorded that session of my little Midas board and gave them a critical listen on my monitors. Of note: Still smooth on my hyper-accurate monitors (Neumann KH-120). But also, the dynamic range is incredible! The drummer was a very dynamic player, and there was no loss of detail on lower-level sounds, e.g. ghost notes, compared to loud cymbal crashes.
Not that you should trust my recommendation, but I HIGHLY recommend these microphones based on my experience with them on drum overheads!
That’s some nice guitar playing Warren! Awesome tone.
Thanks ever so much!
So glad you featured AudioHaze! Love to see the collaborations between some of my favorite channels!
Thanks ever so much! Yes, we love him and his channel!
great intro...says a lot about a channel like this when they have a poor sounding intro and you'd be surprised at how many producers giving advice on youtube have an un-bearable intro theme. Great playin man
Thanks ever so much! That really means a lot!
Wow Steve and Warren!!!!! every time I need some info or inspiration there you both are, working out exactly the thing I need to work out, PLAPA has been like being in a hive mind! Thank you so much, for all the great content and pure education!
very very likeable musical genius(es). Deep respect from the land the featured microphone comes from.
Thanks ever so much to you in Osterreich
Mic sounds great.
The song sounds like a country-fied version of Whole Hearted by Extreme. Pretty cool vibe though.
Aha! Thanks Brett!
I'm thinking a pair of these to record drums with the Glyn Johns technique would be good.
Agreed Ed!
Sounds fantastic!
Thanks, Alex!
LOVE this song!
Thanks ever so much
Great clear explanation about transients and volume levels etc.!
Thanks ever so much! Glad to be able to help
Great song, very tight and catchy!
Thanks ever so much
Fantastic video with a wonderful song and a great guest appliance by Audio Haze!
Thanks ever so much
Outstanding!
Thanks, Joe
I was waiting for this for some time. My idea and my practical audio work is done entirely with small diaphragm microfones. My exception are dynamic live vocal mikes, no problems with the combination of moist conditions and phantom power.🤨
Personally I do not use anything else, aus this class of microfones is extremely precise and therefore universally usable.
As far as I know, The Yellowjackets are also relying in this class of microfones.
The demo songs are usually good but this was genuinely amazing. I'm not even really into that kind of music either, but I was thoroughly impressed.
Thanks a lot for the review and another great song! I was about to buy this mic for drum recordings and now I give it a try to win it here on your channel;).
Thanks and cheers from Germany!
Cool tune! Love the guitar solos Warren. All the instruments sound great!
Hi Dick! Thanks a lot!
Beautiful song! 🥰👍
Thanks ever so much Adis!
Honestly looking for that clear, crisp detailed sound of the 451 but since I know the CC8 is the next gen version of that mic, I'm going to order both and see which one does that classic sound better.
Hot track, guys!!!
Thanks ever so much!
Warren how does this mic compare to the Lewitt LCT 340?
I haven't done a side by side comparison yet!
Would you recommend Austrian Audio The CC8 or Oktava MK 012 for streaming/online teaching in unsounded room with dogs barking outside the house? Thanks!
Great songwriting and performance! I’m liking what Austrian Audio is doing and I love it that they keep going after they were “kicked to the curb” so to speak…That’s an impressive piece of gear.
More cats!!
That VI chord comes in handy don’t it?
I’m going to suggest the Townsend Sphere modeling mic again. I know you like it Warren and I’m really interested in your opinion of it. Oh yeah, who built the bass that you were playing?
Thanks for sharing this info and the tracks!!
Thanks ever so much!
The sE SE7 sdc is by far the best value in the class... 16 dB noise (same as CC8) and full frequency response down to 20hz (better than any other in its price class)... at $220 a matched pair, probably the best value of ANY microphone sold...
KITTY!!!!
Yes! Cats get a lot of love on the channel!
That is one bad ass song!!!! First thoughts were “Widespread Panic” live!
Great song Steve and Warren
Thanks very much!!
I think it's pretty cool on vocals, not too much plosives for a sdc. Might be cool to pair it with a saturated SM7b O:)
Marvellous idea
Nice musicianship guys!
Thanks ever so much
@@Producelikeapro loving that blue guitar as well Warren. Super classy look
@@bobbydreg5597 the Yamaha RevStar is amazing!!
Ok, what TV show/movie is this song going to be featured on? Haha
Great production/mix as always!
I do have a pair of CC8's and for me they sound more like the C 460 / C 480 with the CK61 capsule than an C 451 EB - for me the C 451 EB is brigther sounding and not that smooth like the 480's or the CC8 - man I realy love the CC8 on overheads!
Entering another one, will I win or will I go 0 for 12!!!!!!! LoL
What a fantastic fun song !!! And the mic is great too :)
Thanks ever so much
Great video.
Really good guitar player. It would sound better if the guitar was in tune. It’s funny how a lot of these gear videos are SO focused on the gear that they don’t tune their instruments. You have some of the best ears on the planet. Tell that dude to tune up! Love your channel. Thanks.
Isn't it confusing doing compression, eq, etc. in Pro tools, and in the console?
How will this match a neumann KM85 or 185?
It will stand up very well against both of those!
So all I need to know is did you keep it and will you use it again? Because if you use something better than this, then what is the point of this mic? Save your money, buy the good mic. Stop buying semi good carp - is the only thing I can say in response to this kind of pitch.
What a great riff!! Forget the mic!
I have these mics on demo and I’m not sure I like them. I find them a bit harsh
That riff got to me, Warren. Nostalgic thought it might be for you, it was too much. It was tasty enough at the beginning, and then coming back to it periodically would have been really nice: but not relentlessly all the way through. But yeah, I know it was just a quick recording.
Really great showcase for the microphone, though.
I bet you could do the same with a 57... 😎
:)
Thanks Audrey!!
FYI: "Terms and Conditions" for the "Enter & WIN The Austrian Audio CC8" on your website are outdated - they are still mentioning an old deadline and some Kali monitor speakers as the price to win. But much more creepy, of course, is the question: who the hell reads the T&Cs? Pls. don't ask 🤪
They should be updated! :)
@@Producelikeapro That "you have been selected among our shortlisted winners" message sounded too good to be true ... it's using your profile picture, but I guess it was just a scam ... if not, then sorry for reporting it as such.
btw: your T&Cs now mentions the CC8 ... but it still says that the promotion begins May 2021 and ends in Dec 2021 ... yes, okay, I'm a nit-picker 😕
You guy should do a masterclass on piano recording. That piano is really nice! 😍
Thanks ever so much
Warren , loved the song and mic , it’s great to see your hands play again.
Thanks ever so much A.D!
Nice detail. Cool cat. Thanks.
Thanks ever so much Arthur!
Love Austrian Audio …. ❤️
Thanks Vincent!
Super good
Thanks ever so much!!
I love the song!! Great video all around!
Thanks ever so much!
Slightly off topic: 1st gen Revstars are going to be up for grabs on Reverb any minute now, kids.
Get yours while people who haven't watched this don't realize how much they still rock!!
They are so good!
So i'm an old Southern Rocker / Country Dude. What a fun killer track. If i was still playing live this track would be in my show ASAP.. It would be a blast to play. This would get the folks ready to party... lol Love it.....
Thanks ever so much! I really appreciate it!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Sounds fab, also stunning video work 👍🏻
Thanks ever so much Karl!
BRILLIANT DEMO WARREN 👏🏻👏🏻
This mic appears to be beyond reproach ❣️ I have the OC818 and only have good things to say about it.
You got a bass sound here to die for ❤️🔥👍🏻 As far as I'm concerned, how a microphone records electric bass is of utmost importance ‼️
Don't ever sell yourself short as a guitarist; and I say "ist" as opposed to "player." You can certainly fill in for Tim Pierce or Michael Lemo when they aren't available. 😉😇
Thank you as always 🙏🏻
Nice song 🎵, I love it. I'm very happy to see you using your hand/wrist strainless. Is it all well right now?
This CC8 by Austrian Audio suprises me, great balanced sounding mic. I owe a matched pair of the Neumann KM184, which I really love. But they are much more expensive than the AA. Do you think, the CC8 can keep up with the Neumann?
These sound really good against the Km 184, Aston starlights as well, Roswell audio 47's are also in line here.
18:13 Me when I call my cat
How's CC8 comparing with Lewitt LCT140, as I watched some videos for you and Lewitt and bought an lct140 last year.
Fantastic microphone
Thanks ever so much for sharing
Love this dudes voice. So cool
Thanks ever so much!
Hello!!
I’m Amit, from Tel Aviv, Israel.
Love your channel very much!!!! Watch it constantly!!
I’d like to ask for your advice if that’s ok.
I was thinking about add/upgrade my small condenser overheads arsenal. Should I get the KM184 or the CC8 for drum overheads? I already own a pair of KSM137’s which I love, but I want something with a bit more bottom end. I also have a pair of the OC818. Good stuff, but too much spread and less accuracy.
Thank you very much and keep on rockin🤟
Amit
Hey if you would take only one mic for acoustic guitar with percussion style, which would it be cc8(450$), km184(600$) or soyuz 013(600$)? Less money is ofc better, but if its worth... :D Or I also saw a used cc8 pair for 700. But then Neumann and Soyuz used will be dropped to 500 aswell. Thanks for any advise! :)
Well I wouldn't buy soyuz because it's Russian. Was considering Neumanns for ages but now think I'm going with cc8 as they've been highly recommended for acoustic guitar and virtually indistinguishable from km184 probably the 184 is a little brighter but AA reproduces the pure sound of original instrument very well and the extra you pay for Neumann isn't worth it
I am considering cc8 stereo pair. Was even thinking about AA OC818 LDC pair as it has multi-pattern capsule capability and I know that is superb for classical guitar. I play flamenco and classical hybrid
@@DuncanEduardo yeah, AA cc8 in comaprison to neumann looks very well. But Soyuz is something completely different.
Dont you like it because its just Russian or because of some specific aspects?
and btw, I already have Sennheiser KM4, So I was think to buy only 1 mic and combine it with senn later (if needed, just experimental), I'm beginner, so I'm a bit scared to overcomplicate everything :D
On the basis of watching this when it first came out, I bought the CC8. It's a really great microphone. Thank you.
Fab track. Really gets up and goes and takes you shopping 👍
LOVE THE SONG, feels like country - Cajun - rock, sounds and feels good, oh n that hook is SOOOOOO catchy.
Thanks ever so much! I love writing and recording with Steve!! He’s the best
A great song, I hear some nice claps,
That's one element I have trouble with, what EQ and compression do you use, and any tips for recording claps,
Thanks Warren
Hi George, yes, I don't boost the highs too much, that makes them sound like clicks! Try a little 1k for mid range punch as well as a little high passing
@@Producelikeapro thanks Warren I will try that,
@@limbophonic1 you're very welcome!
the better cheap chinese mics like ISK microphones
What a great Microphone company, future classics in the making.... every bit as nice as a Neuman.
