+Shawn Murphy No problem. I missed another feature actually too. If you tap to focus you can see a little sun icon beside the square. You can change the exposure of the picture by swiping up and down on it.

Dan, you are awesome! I really appreciate people like you who realize the importance of making/sharing these tutorials with others. I've had my iPhone (6+) for almost a year now and I've never taken a selfie. I suppose I've never had a reason to do so if I were to be honest. I'm usually the one behind the camera but not often in front of it. I suppose we should all document what we look like once in awhile.. LoL. I suppose I'm just old school when it comes to technology. There are a lot of reasons why I like it and many reasons why I don't. I found siblings I didn't even know I had this past year... I mean how cool is that! On the flip side, I hate seeing everyone so preoccupied with all their gadgets especially young kids. That being said, it's the world we live in now.. and I'm still learning. Thanks again, truly appreciate the help. 🙂

Great instructional. Question - when videoing, is there a way to use a filter along with filming or do I add a filter in the edit mode? How do I do that? Is it possible with the iPhone 6? Or do I do that in iMovie? I want a 'soft' filter so my wrinkles aren't so obvious!
+Wright Ideas with Susan You would have to download an app that offered that feature to take video with a filter. Other then that you would have to do it after the fact using editing software like iMove.

My iphone 6S plus has a different camera option that is not discussed here - its a thick round circle with two other circles around it. it seems to be there by default all the time and its like it takes a small video and then a picture. can you explain the function, please?

+kamal cade You can just use the regular camera app for that. To edit it a bit download the iMovie app.

I click pics on the iPhone and it's just awesome but when I upload on fb the pics are blurry or looks like not focussed.
Divya Veeresh You're welcome. This could be due to zooming when taking the photo but probably because you are seeing it on the larger screen you can see the imperfections a lot more. I couldn't tell you exactly what is causing this without seeing how you took the pics, then seeing them on the phone and uploading them.

Michelle Lee It does auto focus when you take the picture outright. If you want to pinpoint an exact subject to focus on you can tap to do so.

Thanks great video. I had a question for you regarding with the flash during an evening shot. Why is it that most of my evening pictures using the flash turn out terrible pictures. My day time pictures are always amazing but when a take a group picture using the flash the pictures are unclear and look very bad. I have an iPhone 6. Thanks
+Nathalie Rierson It could be that it isn't enough light to make the photo look good. Low light is always harder to get good quality pictures and the further you are to the subject the worse it will look.

Some iPhones built for certain regions can’t mute the sound. If the silence button on the side of the phone doesn’t mute then you may not be able to.

Does the iPhone 6 record in mono sound? And can you take a photo whilst recording a video? I also heard there is no image stabilisation in there. True?
Gino Guillermo The iPhone 6 does have image stabilization but it is digital where as the 6 Plus has optical image stabilization. It records in mono and you can take a photo while in video. When recording a white circle will be available to tap to take photos.

Thanks. It usually happens when your service is poor. So if you are noticing this in a subway, elevator, basement or some condos that is most likely the issue. You can always try just a simple restart of your phone by turning it off and on to refresh everything. If it is happening all the time then you need to contact your phone carrier and see if something can be corrected.

I at one time used the camera and had a spotlight effect on my picture, cannot remember how I did it.
Good but I am still having trouble getting the photos to my computer. I like them on my desktop when I have to use them a lot. So after I email to myself how do i edit to get them turned right side up. When should I edit? on phone or computer?
+Gail Levites You can edit them with any program you would like. I prefer the use of the computer, if you have a Mac it auto rotates though. Some people have issues on Windows so if it wont allow you to rotate try this online program www.picmonkey.com/
When using video mode, can you pause and restart? Also I believe you can snap a still picture while recording as well.
No but you can install other apps that work that way. I have a feeling that will be coming though.

I took a photo on iPhone 6, and sent it via email. Before sending, it asked me what size photo. Then, I took same photo and included it in a message. It did not ask about resizing. The message was very slow. Is there a way of re-sizing photo for messages?

Great tutorial, Dan. The only thing I don't seem to be able to do is use the microphone and camera above the keyboard in iMessenger. They are greyed out. The microphone below works. Any thoughts?
Thanks, glad you liked it. As for the greyed out areas, try rebooting your device. Turn it off and then back on. If it doesn't fix the issue let me know and I can start looking into some actual issues for this.

syed mubashir You can lock the focus point on a specific spot by holding your finger on the screen until it locks. As for apps you can try "camera awesome". It has a great selective focus feature.

Tap to focus is the only option. Ensure it’s in good lighting and not super close to the subjects.
