I love these earlier Richard appearances when Howard and him would actually make sly cracks about him being gay and Richard was fine with it. Then in the early 90s when Richard really became mega famous you can tell he got way uptight about it and Howard eventually stops making any reference to it. The appearances are still gold, but these early ones are the best.

Richard really was just a businessman playing a character. If he actually cared so much he wouldn’t continue to come on for promo after Howard was so brutal toward his clients. I’m sure he’s not a bad guy but he’s also not this character 24/7.

Michael, the guy who he mentions around 25:00 slimmed down to under 200 lbs for awhile, but then he began gaining the weight back and avoiding Richard and they had a teary reunion on TV after Michael had gotten pretty huge again, though maybe not as big as he was originally.
Old clips of Howard denying he's Jewish are my favorites. He would CRUCIFY someone for "Not being honest" these days! I love how he acts like he "knows a LITTLE Hebrew" and asks what's up with the yarmulka as if he had NO idea! LOLOL! That salad spray device he's talking about isn't a bad idea. Walter Hudson was a bedridden man in New York who weighed nearly 1200 lbs at his peak. He died of a heart attack in 1991 (age 47). The fire department had to bust out a wall to remove his body from his apartment.
