Even the best guitarists in the world still learn new stuff all the time. Anyway, I hope you're still out there somewhere, learning more song on the guitar. Good luck to you!

Marty, you rock man. I'm surprised that nobody has picked up on the fact that you just taught us two songs in one. This is the exact same chord progression and strumming pattern, I think, as Neil Diamond's "Cherry Cherry". The only difference is that for "Cherry Cherry" you tune the entire guitar down a half step.

I think you can match that chord progression to about 100+ other songs .. like Buddy Holly, Neil Diamond, the Romantics, The Kinks, almost any 50's band...etc... always very catchy.

Don’t tell me that I just found Marty music’s old channel
You need to hold the D for an extra beat in the 1st measure before coming back to the A for a single beat, then to the rhythm Marty's showing. So if Marty's rhythm can be represented by EEE AAA DD A AAA then the 1st time through it should be EEE AAA DD D-D A and then alternating with EEE AAA DD A AAA (sorry, there's no good way to show tab on here).
Go listen to the song, you'll hear what I'm talking about.

@LovelessxXo nothing wrong with simplifying but in this case it would be just as simple to have the correct chord progression
don't get me wrong, I love Marty and he has inspired me to start playing again after 20 years away from the guitar, I just like to see accuracy even in beginner's instruction

“Got a real easy 3 chord song for ya”... And YOU can do it.!!! says Marty ...... Even though it’s wrong, and sounds like sh@t, you CAN do it! Please don’t....
You should not label a song “Easy” then teach beginner students how to become hacks and play songs incorrectly. Not once do you even mention there’s a correct way to play this song and that this isn’t it. Nor do you mention even once, the extremely important rhythm that’s an absolute MUST,:and that without that ever so important rhythm, no matter what chords are played, it will never be recognized as being that song. Instead, you use “Down-Up-Up-Down-Up-down-down-Up-Up-Down” etc etc etc and all that useless nonsense. Those “Down-Up-Downs” are all pointless without being in the correct beat and groove.
This rhythm pattern and syncopated beat, is what really makes the song. NOT the 3 chords.(which you also have wrong but I’m not even going to bother getting into that in this comment.
WATCH the lik below....Focus in closely on TIME STAMP 6 seconds through 30 seconds mark. Slowdown the video to half speed if needed, to clearly see the proper chords, and the proper chord positions. IF you’re a beginner guitarist, this song is going to be to difficult for you to properly play right now..Three chords, Four chords i a song or not, there’s a lot more to properly playing a song as a guitarist, than simply and randomly strumming those 3 or 4 chords.
Sorry Marty, but, THERE IS a right way AND a wrong way to play songs. EVEN for musicians playing music. You shouldn’t encourage beginners to play something wrong, and well called out on it, have them say, I’m an artist, and THIS (the wrong way) is the way I WANT to play it.
