I was there for quarantine in 1998....ended up doing six years...this documentary doesnt begin to describe what we went through...seeing a man falling off tier four or five...and landing on a table in pieces...yall have no idea
This is where I started. Little did I know at the time: I was headed for 4 block right after. 1/2 of my 7 years was there because of a county jail escape.
I was there back in Oct. of 1986 and I remember looking out my bars to the other cell and some young guy standing in his underwear telling the guard how cold it was cause some windows were broken out and the old guard said, put some clothes on you stupid S.O.B! That was the highlight of my 99 days in 7block.
Having a museum on the site of an operating prison is probably too much of a security risk. I checked into visiting once, each guest had to undergo a background check and if you had any felonies you would not be allowed to visit.
Had the privilege of being a cell block 7 tour guide a couple years ago. This museum sadly failed due to limited hours based on the state of Michigan. Museum visitors and staff had to be off the premises at 5 pm. Larger than life facility that could have been so much more
The left side of the walls. 7 is front right corner. Connected to parnell correctional facility now. 8 is closed off due to unsafe conditions. Which is y the closed the 7 block museum.
The State Prison of Southern Michigan. The Michigan Reformatory in Ionia taught you how to fight. Marquette Branch Prison taught you how to due time. Jackson taught you how to die
my brother was there for 25 years and still didnt come out any better he went straight to dealer stuck drugs in his arm and died next day with that needle still in his arm his buddy just dropped him off at er hospital and left
i was there and in a couple other blocks in 2004 for quarantine i guess it was about 40 days til i shipped out but i remmember the place gave me all kinds of historical vibes it almost felt like visiting a prison musuem even though i was locked up but at the time i was 28 years old and thought i was a badass so it was kinda cool to be there and think about all the other bad motherfuchers that went through there,,, iremember i got there in about middle of febuary 2004 and rode out as they say on the last day in march or march 30th i remeber walking the yard afyter dinner around the track and its dark in the winter and thinking some of these people are killers and probably would kill me given the right reason and as im walking the fear transformed on me as i started to feel very aware and awake and it was like a rush of adrenaline ,
@@isabellaella525 Because when you get "admitted" to prison, you go through Jackson prison as a quarantine before you get placed at your facility. The average stay at Jackson back then was 30-45 days. Was there in '06. Guy tried to kill himself by cutting his wrists, but caved and called for the C.O.s.
@@derekmoore1612 Quarantine is still on the old Jackson State Prison campus today. However, it is in a remodeled building that is (supposedly) modernized for today's inmates. I have never been in the building so I don't know any more.
was there in quarantine 2013 4th tier then other side to smt caught few tickets moved to cotton level 4 then 2 then 1 caught a assult on prisoner and went to coldwater them home from there 2 years later
The sound of the main doors closing behind you when you arrive, is a sound you will never forget.
That was the location where I told myself I would quit drinking. Almost 27 years later, still sober

Old Jackson prison was when prison was still prison. These soft kids today would never make it in place like Jackson was.
