Thank you went straight to the job no what he eat for breakfast what his wife wore or drove first video I have ever watched without cussing .showed every step as he was doing it gave web site part name n part number. Then showed completely how to install part anything I can ever help you with just ask I'm in North Carolina thanks again people could certainly learn how to make a how to do video from you. I'm 75 old n l thought I knew everything not a people person hate people u taught me something. And didn't talk two hrs for fifthteen mins
of info good luck to u n your family
Very informative and just the info I needed. I appreciate you putting this content out to help others!
keep up the good work bro. very informational
Transmission guy wanted 900 dolars to change tailshaft n install shift kit. U saved me alot of money thanks
Dude you just saved me so much time and money… I thought I was going to have to buy a different transmission for my project truck.
Just did this on my 4l80e in a my 65 cutlass. Do i need to put grease on the slip yoke as well or will the trans fluid be enough
Just got a 454 and TH400 out of a 88 motorhome. Bolt on yoke. Thanks for posting so I can use trans in my Nova.
Bill Jr Yes, my 454 & Th400 also came out of an 80s motorhome too! This will absolutely work for you. The transmission is now in my 73 Camaro with the original slip yoke drive shaft. Enjoy your ride!
@@thecrispis2728 that's awesome!! Does yours have the HD on the bell housing? Hoping its even a bit beefier than a standard 400. :)
Bill Jr I’m not sure if it has HD on it or not, it’s behind a sbc 350 for now just to get me around town. I hope it does, I’m building a 496 & going to use that trans for as long as I can! Lol
@@thecrispis2728 496 will be awesome in the Camaro. Either way a 400 is plenty stout. :)
Do you have part number for that yoke? or a link? Sorry i cant find it on the denny's driveshaft site. thanks awesome video thanks for making it.
If you are removing the oring the deep center bore before the splines shouldnt mean anything?..also can you just weld a cap in the old original? I stead of buying a new yoke
This is awesome.Thank you very much.I just swapped a powerglide to a turbo 400 with a fixed yoke. Was wondering how to do my driveline next.
Thanks for the video very helpful, do you have to grease the yoke inside and out ? Or does the transmission fluid do that for you
Thank you I have a th400 from a motorhome that had a fixed yoke and I want to use it in my Corvette project.
I typed in part number that was on the box but it’s not counter board. Are they a different part number?
Thanks for showing this, i had the same issue but with y
our help solved it like a pro.
Just for additional reference I did the same thing but with a beefier 1350 yoke from Strange. Part number STR-U1650.
Yes, I kept it 1310 because that’s what my driveshaft is made for. However I need need a 1310 to 1330 conversion u joint to mate the drive shaft to my 12bolt rear.
Hey, I'm doing mine now.. Looking at the U1650, it says the yoke shaft is only 3.5'' long. That doesn't seem long enough as on the th400 output shaft, from the end to the o-ring, it's about 3.25'', so it's only 1/4'' on the o-ring BEFORE you pull it out the 3/4'' to take your driveshaft measurements. Is that right?
Great video - short and clear - really helped me - thanks
This video helps me so much.
Great explanation. I found the slip yoke online but would have never known about the o ring. I probably would have wondered why the shaft was so rusty but probably wouldn’t have figured that out. Thanks for posting! Did the same length driveshaft work for you with the new yoke in place?
Yes, I did not have to change my original drive shaft.
@@thecrispis2728 @ my 97 4l80 has a steel o ring!!! Instead of plastic,,, can it be removed?? To accept the long slip yoke!!
Thanks a LOT GREAT content and information👍👊
Just tried it with turbo trans yoke will not go on far enough
Since the new one is bigger will that throw the balance off?
Good video, very helpful, thank you. 👍🏻
But its better the other bolt on slip yoke with the U
Great Job! Good Information!
You explained very well all details!
SO AWESOME! Thank you so much for this information!
Hello, Great Video. I have a 1975 AMC 360 Jeep Cherokee Station Wagon 2 Door, I don't get into the 4 wheeling tearing shit up, I am more into Drag Racing and Street Rod's . I have the Turbo 400 and it's great . The Borg Warner Transfer Case needs a new $ 300.00 chain kit , Wouldn't it be more cost efficient to ditch the transfer case and put in the slip yoke and find a drive shaft to fit The Full Size Jeep ? I would think selling the BW Quadra Trac do the dirt devils would cover my parts to ditch the 4 wheel drive into a 2 wheel drive.I do like to keep things original , But in my situation at my age if the T.C . Comes out it's staying out.
Thank's.
Hey brother, thanks for the video helping out more than four years later! I’m gonna get dad‘s old El Camino sled running with an HD turbo Hydro 400 that had a fixed yoke on it.
cheers buddy i was wondering if i could just top the end off my longer one ,, will prolly just order that instead of taking apart two tranny just to swap output shafts . ive got two different EARLY models of 4l80e
Thanks for the info!
would part # N2-3-10431X fit my 3L80? was out of a 1989 suburban with 454 and i wanna switch to slip yoke As well so i can get rid of the 2 piece driveshaft as well.
How many different housings are used for a turbo 400? I have tried two brand new yokes. One slip yoke has splines all the way to the end and one like in your video. But neither yoke will go in. The tail housing stops the yoke from being inserted.
So you have to remove that oring when using a slip yoke? Cause I simply bought the slip yoke for my TH400, inserted it into the transmission, and got my measurements for the driveshaft.
I contacted someone at Denny's the other day and they said on the Turbo 400 conversion bolt on yoke to slip on yoke the part number was Neapco 2060662 and the yoke you show with Neapco part number N2-3-10431X was not a conversion yoke. So who knows. But if that one works cool! I did look up the 2060662 part number on their site afterwards and it is the one needed by the detailed description
Did you use your original driveshaft? And thank you for the post.
Exactly what I was thinking 🤔
Putting one in a79 camaro, did you have to cut drive shaft?
The driveshaft that I got with the car fits fine with the new yoke. But I do not know if this driveshaft was original to the car or not.
new to the channel, very helpful video brotha
Great Vid! This info helped me a great deal. Gotta swap one on a 6L90e. It came off an Isuzu NPR & is going in a chevy G30 RV that has much smaller U joints on
a two piece driveshaft.
I’m doing the same but did you remove the tail house seal? Cuz my tail house seal is to small for my yoke and I got the same one as you? Or go with a bigger seal?
You can use the O-ring on the slip yolk as well to prevent hydro lock.
No, you need the lubrication as the slip yoke constantly slides in and out. So remove the oring.
What about swapping the yoke on the driveshaft?
Video I'm in the process of doing that very same thing this weekend.
Will this yoke fit a factory diveshaft/ what size ujoint goes in it.
Awesome video man. Beautifully done
Answered my question, thanks!
Didn't know the yoke was a bolt on . 350 has a slip yoke
Good job
Hey , nothing but good thing to say here . Thank you so much
Nice! Just picked up a 700r4 out of a '73 vette so I need to do this before it goes in my 91 firebird!
Do u know info on that o ring on the output shaft? Part number by chance?
Wish i saw this last week. Ordered a slip yoke and it was too long
How long was the one you ordered if you don’t mind cause I’m in this same boat right now
JUST WHAT I NEEDED TO KNOW ,,PART NUMBERS TOO!
Very good doing the same on my 78 camaro. What did you use to block off speedometer cable need to do it to thanks was good video
How do you get the nut off if tried almost everything
hello my slip yoke just goes like 2 inches in the transmission do you think it is touching the oring and I need a new yoke. thanks for your help
Did you ever figure this out?
Hi mate how long was the slip yoke shaft ? Thanks
Great video. Solved my problem thx
very nice and informative... definitely need more subscribers
Did you had to cut off the threded it part of the chef on a transmission
Will that same yoke fotos on a 99 4l80e?
I have a TH400 on a Cadillac that leaks through the hole in the yoke. I've heard that the hole helps relieve pressure while the yoke slips in and out during operation. Your setup uses a sealed slip yoke, I'm wondering how much of a pressure issue that will cause. I guess the elimination of the "O" ring inside eliminates that problem?
Man I’m having the same problem in my 79 Cadillac… th350 … it leaks out the tailshaft seal …
Should it be in neutral when you take the fixed yoke out
Good stuff I’m doing the same to my 62 impala.
Do you have part number for that yoke? Can’t seem to find it thanks appreciate it
Do you need the counter bored if you taking off the o ring?
Thanks for the info...helped a lot.
Did you had to cut off the threaded part it the shift to make it work
Thanks for the quick vid
Does anyone know how far that yoke should stick out the transmission when measuring for the driveshaft?
I think it should stick out about an inch to be safe
How much rwhp do you have with that slip yoke
Thanks man. That was super helpful.
Thanks for the video helped alot
very good video thanks
Good job u taught me something
Genius is right, thanks for the video
Great info, thanks
Thanks , your video helped me out
Very informative
Will it work on a 80e
Thank you worked as described
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the useful info!
Best video and explanation I've found!
Great video, informational and straight to the point
Joe Peasley Thank you for the positive feedback!
@@thecrispis2728 Thank you for educational content
Did you use sealant when putting back on the tail housing or just the gasket?
I just reused the original gasket and tightened it down good no leaks here 👍🏼
Thanks it was very useful,I'm putting in the same transmission in to a 79 elcamino.
Broken wrench 21 Glad to help!
This was helpful
Very helpful thank you
Nice detailed installation thanks!
Why are you changing the yoke
Broken wrench 21 So I could use a slip yoke, and keep the original driveshaft I had!
Was the u joint different than the sealed yoke
Broken wrench 21 no, both 1310 ujoint. You can buy the slip yoke with the counter bore that I have in the video with 1310, 1330, or 1350 u joint. I bought 1310 because that’s what my driveshaft originally had. If I upgrade my driveshaft to a bigger joint I’ll get a new slip yoke too.
Helpful thanks.
Hell yeah thank you so much!
How long did it take you to get the old one off? I can't get mine off
A couple minutes. It was a bit rusty, I had to continuously hammer the yoke on all sides for it to come out. Careful to not hit the transmission, yoke only.
Awesome
What u joint you use
Thank you.
Awesome information
Can you do the same for th350 since they are similar or no
tony delarosa GM never made a TH350 with a bolt on yoke, according to google. You most likely have a TH400?
Excellent vid!
Thx for the tip
Thanks so much!
