My father is from Bahrain and his mother taught MY mother (from Missouri, USA) to make this dish. It was always a holiday treat growing up. We used squash as opposed to chard for a vegetable in the soup, and would also incorporate a beef or lamb shank in the soup. The Rice is a new idea, which I will try the next time I make tomato soup - Great tip!!
When I was growing up , mom made kubba hamuth more often but didn’t have a chance to pass the recipe. However, after seeing your video , I tried it myself and boom !!!!taste the same. Plus, I included the 7 spice ( bahart) on meat stuffing and used citrus acid on soup part. Thank you.
I've tried semolina with meat it turned out a bit hard. The original recipe requires meat with rice (washed , soaked, and then dried) to be mince together with the meat. I'm doing a new, easy version using the ready-made rice flour with the semolina 😁 So I'm not really sure, you can try flour maybe it workes🤔
My best friend is Assyrian and her mom would make this. Omg! It's such a comfort food, so delicious!

Such a great tutorial! Thank you. Do you think salt-free chicken broth would be good instead of water or too overpowering?

Do you know how many calories per serving this makes?
Honestly speaking, I don't ☺️
@halalfoodskitchen that's OK. Thanks responding anyways!
I’ve made it with rice flour only used salt cumin black pepper but when cooked it taste bland and doughy, any idea why
Maybe the rice flour is a lot more than the meat and the kubba shell was thick🤔
@@halalfoodskitchen maybe, it’s my first time making it hopefully will get it right next time, thank you
@@scarletttobin6548 hope you get it right next time 👍🏻👌🏻
