Really appreciate your kind words. My aim is exactly that, so share as much as my experiences on GTs as there isn’t another channel like this I have found! Thanks for ur support 👍🏽
The Dealer gets tired of people calling and wasting valuable time getting price comparisons for consumers to shop private shops. Bentley caters to those customers that want the car serviced and that’s it. Not a nice thing but reality.
Ahhh - that actually does make sense to be honest. I have seen some of the repair / service bills from the previous owner (all from Bentley) and boy were they BIG costs even for simple stuff. Thanks for your comment :)
@@zakmirza Yup! I own a Conty GT and found the same in my area. I am a private shop owner. I service my own car. But I do order a lot of my parts from my local Dealer. They put me off too once I called about n oil change service which is $900.00 USD. I am glad you posted your Vid. Much appreciated.
As a mechanic yourself im sure your running costs are LOW since under the hood it’s a VW/Audi so that makes perfect sense to you! Wish I was mechanic minded to do basic repairs myself 😢 but I always try search around for the VW equivalent part numbers rather than over prices Crewe ones
Bentley dealers find it hard to believe that one can buy a Continental for the price of a new Japanese car. They are used to selling to people for whom a $5000 shop job is peanuts. They base their attitude on if you have to ask the price of a repair, you should not be driving a Bentley.
Yes!! That’s why it’s hard to get costs upfront - I don’t have more money than sense hence have avoided main dealers now. I’ve seen the previous owners bentley bills and they look painful!
£2k was final bill - but that’s Bentley specialist not a main dealer. I wouldn’t trust main dealers as they just keep adding on costs and THEN tell u after the job is completed! Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Agree, mine was cost me about 2000K as well. For all of them around. Aftermarket will wissle and might not breaking well enough. I prefer to use genuine only here.
I have a Cadillac CTS V 6 as my daily vehicle. The difference between Cadillac dealer parts and Chevrolet dealer parts is interesting. And cheaper for many of the interchangeable parts in the GM range. My Facel Vega is a different horse: very expensive even though the engine is a Dodge. Drive a label, pay label prices if it is difficult for you to shop.
Agreed. We pay the price for the label; hence it’s nice when u find those cheaper interchangeable parts! Facel Vega - wow that’s classy!! 👍🏽 thanks for watching.
If That’s disks and pads it’s £ 2000 a corner main dealer, £1500 at a specialist. If you can do it yourself go to “ flying spares” they can supply parts
Unfortunately I’m not too mechanical minded to attempt new brakes myself! But I had a look at Flying Spares and they have a good selection of parts; appreciate you sharing that. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
No Bentley ‘told’ me it would cost £2000 for front and rear discs and pads. For Bentley that just sounds a bit too ‘cheap’. The person I spoke to sounded like he was lost - either that or he was a 16yr old on his work placement manning the phones!!
@@mattridgley9095 sorry for late reply, yes all in 4 corners disks pads close to £8k, 6k at a specialist using genuine parts. Good aftermarket would obviously be cheaper....That was the next thing that needed doing on mine (within the next 10k miles) mind you I was doing 2500miles a year. FYI. I had the car for 6 1/2 years cost £40k, running costs approx £15k sold for £24,995 so if you have £5k a year to burn a Continental GT is the car for you. I will add she never let me down all costs were purely maintenance and cosmetic ( wheel refurbishment).
Thanks for the video! But could you please share a piece of advice in terms of maintaining a Bentley, if I’m buying a 2013 flying spur 40k mileage, will the costs for breaks and for maintenance in general increase in comparison with the costs in this video and the one you made about maintaining a Bentley? Like will there be more technical problems with a Bentley that is almost 10 years old and has a rather big mileage?
To be honest the costs will remain the same as there is not a huge amount of difference mechanical; sure they have made enhancements but it’s not a totally need car from the ground up. Check online at car part stores for prices or breaks for example to get an idea. Servicing should also be about the same too. If your not so confident checking a car out worth getting it inspected before and that report will show also how much life is left in the breaks for example so u have an idea what you might need to spend in year 1 of ownership. I had all the paper work for my car which was previously all at Bentley, and even at 40k there were big ticket items replaced; or smaller items such as the rear brake bar which cost over £1000 inc installation. Expect to put aside £2000 per year for servicing and maintenance I would say.
Was that from a main dealer or specialist? Genuine Crewe or after market pads? To be honest after market are just as good - but I’ve found the braking capacity on these 2.2 ton cars are not good enough; hence a lot of downshifting can help 😜
Thanks for watching - i avoided GTC as its so expensive to get the top fixed if any issues :( Conti breaks and pads are simple tech, its nothing different from a VW Pheaton, so if you have a trusted local garage yes the mechanic will easily be able to fit them. I put links in the description to a website where you can buy none-crew parts. For some ppl they want to save a bit on the cost - Crew parts and so £££ though; they are essentially VW / Audi parts.
Ahhh really? It is annoying cos they should just be able to give you a straight price. Makes the experience bad; another reason I don’t bother with main dealers.
@@zakmirza in my opinion they should value us as well even with older cars. At the end I’m sure we spend more with repair than those people with brand new cars who come once a year in for a service

@@zakmirza Do you know what book time is? it is how much a mechanic is paid for warranty work. say, bentley decided it pays .5 hours to change one brake. A mechanic is not going to waste their time getting paid for half an hour when most of the book time jobs take much longer than stated. So most automotive shops will charge double for out of warranty work. If the manufacturer says it takes 2 hours then most shops will charge you 4 hours. of course, if it was not a bentley you could take it to any other shop and just pay the minimum 39.95$ to have the brakes changed like at walmart or your local mechanic. But because it is a bentley most mechanics do not want to touch it due to liability. The air suspension is 3,000$ each side. now what if your mechanic accidently put a hole in it with a screw driver? they would have to buy you a new one which is why no one wants to work on a bentley.
