I agree. To me, Apocalypse's origin and his engagement with Rama-tut (Kang variant) weren't explored in the first part of the movie. Then, the recruitments of the horsemen just looked a bit rushed. This needs to be given more details and context for why each one of them jointed Apocalypse in the first place. Thirdly, the phoenix power here looked inappropriate as well as Jean entered such state in a different time.
