Short shifting can be done for several reason;1. The pilot may not get a chance to shift later (avoiding rev limiter) when needed, usually because the bike is leaned over too far on the shifter side for the foot to get access to shift lever itself.2. Sometimes the pilot wants less torque, maybe to avoid spinning up the rear tire, and uses short shifting to accomplish this.
