TBH, I drove by hundreds of times. I don't think I ever ate there. But if they made it over 60 years they had to be doing something right.

They have had the best Chinese food in the Twin Cities. Not only that they are a great family as well!
    Sad.

Now we can watch the other restaurants fight it out over the new food vacuum created by the closing.

I used to play on a men's fastpitch team back in 91-93. We used to play a team sponsored by Fong's. They actually wanted me to come play for them after my team quit playing, I regret not playing for them, or fastpitch ever again.

There goes an era from the forgotten Chinatown. I hear he was a prominent businessman and leading member of the Minneapolis chapter of the "On Leong" Tong and his family along with over a hundred people were robbed back in 1980 during Chinese New Years by members of the "Ghost Shadows" street gang (probably outta towners sent by the rival "Hip Sing" Tong). Events that led to murder and culminated in the 1990 FBI crackdowns across the nation against Chinese-American organized crime. Fascinating, rich and forgotten "江湖" stories fill my imagination when I scarf down that Kung Pow Chicken!
