I truly appreciate this video, thank you. My car desperately needs a new oil filter and oil change and I've never attempted it before. Mechanics are scary to me with their ability to escalate the cost of work so now I'll do this myself with your help..👍
Just done the wife's meriva B the sump plug was far to tight so left it in place and used an oil pump to remove all the old oil got over 4 litres out of the car new filter installed and topped back up with just over 4 litres of new oil next time I will probably put the T45 bit on my breaker bar and try that.
Hello, thank you a lot for the video, i would like to know where the Fuel filter is? I have the same car and i have never changed it😊 Thank you so much again
@@hicham1686 fuel filter doesn't usually come up as a service item on modern petrol cars. I'm not sure of it's location but it might be in the tank on the fuel pump
Thanks for the useful video! Do you know how tight the drain nut should be? I've got some oil around mine some months after last oil change.. maybe I did not apply enough force while i tightened. Thanks
I don't know how many miles this car has done but I would recommend more frquent oil changes looking at the state of your old filter. i have a 25000 mile meriva and just after a 2000mile oil change the oil pump failed due to metal fatigue a known problem with this kind of timing chain engine. A swine of a job and £800 at the main dealer and thats if you can reuse the timing chain cover plate. Mine was ok a bit scratched due to the failure but salvagable. I have had other manufactures defects with this car including faulty relays made in Portugal coil pack corrosion. and plastic clutch master cylinder failure all down to bad quality parts. I hope yours is ok but be warned. Thanks for the video glad to see you changed the o ring. Regards😎😎😎

Do these cars have oil pressure sensors. I noticed oil like substance dripping down the block just above the sump plug and was thinking it could be a sensor leak. Does anyone know 1.4T meriva b se?
All cars have oil pressure sensors as far as I know. Google Meriva 1.4 oil pressure sensor to see what they look like and compare to where you oil leak is 👍
@@baconbuttties ah thank you. I had a look around the engine and can't see one. My astra had similar engine and I couldn't locate that one either. Thanks for the video - Just to say our meriva required a T40 torx so check first before buying a T45.
That's unusual as I thought the vauxhall drain plugs were all the same size.
Ive just used a T40 torx and it worked fine .
Another excellent video from BACONBUTTIES a great help to the amateur DIY`ers.

Any advice on the best point to place the jack stands? Doesn't seem to have a lot of solid points?
Thank you
I used the jacking point to jack up the car and put the axle stand under the chassis rail.
