    I am printing on a polyester 95% spandex 5% blend shirt. Navy blue fabric. I am using standard plastisol white ink. I have stretch additive and low cure additive. In this video you mentioned that adding a stretch additive to low cure ink would affect the low cure properties. Does the same apply if I am adding both low cure and stretch additives to standard plastisol? Or should I only use one additive and which one? Does the low cure additive also have some stretch properties built in like the low cure inks? What would you recommend?

    Hi there! Loved your video!
    I am currently inquering in china about purchasing a large quantety of polyester shirts for a running competition my family organizes. I requested the quotes to include the logo printing and received different types of logo printing techniques. I would appreciate your input as to which method do you think is the best for running shirts made from 100% polyester.
    Thank you!

      Polyester can be tricky because the dye can migrate into your ink if the garment gets too hot while curing. Most of the time Polyester garments need to be printed with some kind of migration blocking under base. Check out our Gamma Blocker Black Underbase for poly printing here: ua-cam.com/video/dlnytaBZOQw/v-deo.html

    Just wondered about heating the garment (sending it through the dryer) before printing to help prevent die migration. Thoughst?

      @Ryonet  10 років тому

      That is always a good idea, just make sure to let the shirt cool down before printing.

      +M Doe First you have to use either a low bleed poly Ink which only comes in plastisol or you have to use a low cure ink in either plastisol or water base. See videos on print on both of these, ua-cam.com/video/Je_342gjJ9g/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/pJ5w7FzYvTg/v-deo.html

    Can you use a low cure additive and a stretch additive together?

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  7 років тому +1

      Yes you can! Often times, poly specific inks will already have both of these qualities within them :)

    Could I just pay you to do it for me?? Those colors are the exact ones I want to use. I doubt our print shops here know what they're doing and I want to use a polyester bomber jacket. I also have in mind a jacket that's 80% polyester, 20% nylon, and 100% polyester. Does that make any difference to the way it'll be printed? I'm altering these for an event.

      +thisCLUMSYgirl Where are you located? We could possibly recommend some good shops in your area, if you're in the US. We aren't a screen printing company per se, so we couldn't complete the job on your behalf, but we can definitely provide any direction you are seeking! :)
      As for the job you're discussing, if you plan on printing it yourself, there are a few things to keep in mind when printing Water Based ink on polyester. Check out this post for some great insight :)

    I have a good question about color ink with low cure on a black polyester long sleeve, if I do a single color just one color that has one print, do I still need to use the white paint like you did before you used the green color?

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  9 років тому +1

      Blkwolf24 yes, the green ink won't pop if you don't use a white underbase.

    what if you don't have a top color in a low cure ink or additive? what temp then?

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  4 роки тому

      Every ink still has to reach fusion temp. Whatever you need to set your dryer at so that the highest temperature ink reaches full cure, that's what you'll have to do. Everything needs to reach cure temp all the way through the ink layer.

    How long should the garment be in the dryer at 280 degrees? When I regularly print with plastisol I run garments through the dryer at 350 degrees for about a minute.

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  9 років тому

      Aaron Jewett IF you are using warp drive then all you need to do is reach that temp, if you wait for 48 hours the ink is good to go :)

      I am using a Litttle Pro by HIX dryer with a 4 color mount on top. And printing on 100% polyester paragon SM0200 with spf30 if that makes a difference.

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  9 років тому

      Always test before you start a run.

  • @vintagemxer9165

    why not send a blank through the dryer first to check temp?

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  4 роки тому

      A fabric heats up differently than the ink. The shirt will heat up much quicker than the ink layer will.

    I'm having issues of the poly ink getting caught in the artwork on my screen and clogging it. Is that something to do with my burning process? Because this ONLY happens with the poly ink and not standard plastisol ink.

  • @FIGHT101TV

    Stretch additive? Are you talking about a reducer?

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  5 років тому

      The stretch works differently than the reducer in that it literally adds stretch capabilities to your print at a lower temp, it's ideal for heat sensitive or stretch fabrics.
