This is great. Recently I came across Ode to Billy Joe on TMC, which lead me to search out Jeremy again. I'm revisiting my adolescence a little - maybe once you have a crush on somebody it never completely goes away. It's so nice to see that he is clearly such a good person and has had such a lovely family life. I've been kind of trying to articulate the feeling those teenage movies gave me at the time. So many adjectives seem to apply - tender, bittersweet, delicate - but none are specific enough. There were a whole slew of them then, and Robby's percentage of them is probably higher than anybody else's. Not so many of them any more, although a few years ago I took my niece to see "The Fault in Our Stars" and when she was next to me, swooning and sighing, I was thinking "I know exactly what's going on with you!"
I have always adored Robby. Robby does not need to defer to Hollywood, Hollywood needs to defer to Robby. I'm sure he has amazing ideas for directing, producing and writing. Shame such egos get in the way.
It was called Death of Richie. Based on a true story about a son on drugs who is murdered by his father. The father was played by Ben Gazzara and mother Eileen Brennan. Robby Benson's biography is on his official website.
Great interview, thanks to Robby.I always feel uncomfortable with interviews because the people conducting them are generally such boobs. They are stiff and never know anything about the person they are interviewing.Robby's skill made this a very good segment.Nice job at directing her without her even knowing it.Robby is a gifted artist and charming man.Very nice.
