@@lrs1519 its called " flanderization" named after ned flanders the character on the simpsons. almost all sitcoms do this for some reason. think about steve erkel, carlton to a certain extent, kim, Patrick from spongebob etc. characters go from funny but normal to bafoons with outlandish behavior and traits

As a kid when you watch shows, you would think the cast would be all friendly with one another. Like a big happy family. Then you find out there’s all kinds of resentment, hatred & so forth

At the end of the day it’s a job at a workplace and people don’t want to be there forever. They want to move up and progress their acting career, get attention for more roles, get better salaries, etc. Watching a fake family played actors on TV, you’re insulated from the workplace issues like any other place. And adding child actors to the mix creates a whole other slew of problems like money, drugs, child labor, child abuse, and parental neglect.
Oh, no. Jeez.
“And then there was Shawn” Hands down one of the top best Boy Meets World episodes ever. Not only was it a clever parodized take on the slasher movies that were popular during that time(including Scream 2 that was still in theatres that month the episode aired and I Know What You Did Last Summer with Jennifer Love Hewitt) but it also was a nice continuity episode of the story arc dilemma that season with Corey/Topanga/Lauren. The ending with Shawn was profound along with the great musical score during that scene. That symbolism was 🔥.

Cory and Topanga were EVERYTHING!!! I loved how this show potrayed them. Their epic break-ups, make-ups and wedding storylines were one for the ages. I’m glad Shawn got his own love story with Angela starting in Season 5.
Season 5 was an especially defining season for Cory and Topanga due to Lauren and due to graduation unknowns. The most epic episode for me is Season 4 the two-parter in Season 4 when Topanga’s parents were moving and she ran away and came back for Cory. That episode along with Amy’s acting was impeccable.
@AmoMe2009, WOW I am SOOOO happy to see that I am not the only one who pretty much legit knows way too much about Boy Meets World lol 😂 Also, I am not being sarcastic at all, I truly could beat 95% of people in a Boy Meets World trivia contest. And ummm yeah, so that might not be as interesting as it seems to me 🤷♀️either way lol.
Cory and Shawn are my favorite pair of best friends in the history of television. They felt like real friends. I'll never forget that one episode during Christmastime when they were older, and Cory said that Shawn was like his brother. And Shawn said "What are you talking about? You are my brother. ". That one line was consistent with their friendship throughout the entire series for me.
Boy Meets World was engaging thanks to the chemistry among the cast. I really enjoyed the Romeo and Juliet episode that featured Olivia Hussey who was Juliet in the Franco Zefferelli film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet in 1968. ❤
Looking back, Mr.feeney might be the greatest tv teacher ever. He wasn’t the usual teacher on tv. He wasn’t a bubbling fool or a party pooper trying to stop all the fun. He genuinely cared about those kids and advised and guided them.

Trina talked about how she was treated at a convention and on Pod Meets World. Kinda makes you wonder how every token black actor on shows with a predominantly white cast is treated because the actress Kat Graham who played Bonnie on the Vampire Diaries was also treated horribly in front of and behind the camera.
This doesn't surprise me. Yes I know Rachel True is biracial yet she was dubbed as the "Black girl" on The Craft. She spoke of mistreatment on the set of the cult classic. Some of the token Black former child stars on Nickelodeon have aired their grievances about being mistreated in the Quiet On Set documentaries. 😢🙏🏾❤️

What makes it even worse, is that no one stood up for her. I know Rider wasn't involved in being mean and eventually checked on her, but that was 20 some years later.

On the reboot for Girl meets World, they acknowledge Morgan was played by two different actors. Both actors played Morgan simultaneously. It was funny as Riley would talk about or to her aunt (singular) with both actresses present.

Angela was an alluring character. Sometimes co-workers have camera envy. It’s not “blackness” but seduction and sass which made her character so captivating
Now I am 25 so I grow up in the 2000s born in 1999. But we got Disney plus and thanks to Disney plus I got to watch this show for the first time and man this become my favorite show I was glad I got to watch it such a good show and a classic.

Boy Meets World is the top 5 greatest 90’s television show that ever existed. Their high school seasons are seriously the greatest works of art I have ever seen on television. The dilemmas they had, the lessons they learned, the language they used, the tone they spoke. The series finale was such a tearjerker. I remember the April 2000 promo for the series finale like it was yesterday when they used the classic Graduation song by Vitamin C. The voiceover for the promotion did an amazing job with his farewell lines. I loved this show!!!

I hate that Trina McGee was told to turn down her Blackness. I always felt they just stuck her into the show inorganically. I remember at one point, she hardly had any lines. The writers were lazy and took too long to develop her character. I'm super disappointed in Will Friedle. I had a little crush on him. Ugh.
I had a crush on him and Jack in the last season when they cut and frosted their hair lol. I like their addition body gain in that season as well.

Great video. I wish all of us had a Mr. Feeny in school. This was one of my favorite shows growing up, but I loved it even more when it was aired on The Disney Channel. I always wondered about Mr. Turner, I loved how that were self-aware were and addressed some of fan question. I saw that Will addressed on the podcast the Aunt Jemima joke, and apologized.
The tall redhead had a pretty decent Adult Film career! Not sure why that wasn't mentioned in this video...

I liked watching Boy Meets World. Sadly, tokenism was its weak spot-like so many mainstream sitcoms of that era.
Additionally, I think Trina got hated on because the other cast members were jealous of her popularity and storyline with Rider Strong. No one else on the series had the same passionate connection. Shawn and Angela’s onscreen chemistry was palpable.
All the crap Trina had to endure irritates me. 😡

I can't see this show the same way I did when I was younger. Hearing about all the things some of the cast did to people behind the scenes just turned me off from the show then hearing that a couple of cast members defended Brian Peck against his assault of an underage at the time boy just sick. I've been over this show for a long time but hearing all of this made me glad I sold my DVD's years ago.

I went into TGIF for Family Matters, was talked into watching this one, fell in love instantly. Like I became obsessed and this show was one of THE shows that defined me into my teens and adulthood, I had such strong feelings about the characters and wanted everything to work out just right for them. (The episode where Shawn dumped Cory in S2 because he considered himself trash AND the first Cory/Topanga breakup hurt me so hard.)
Also Girl Meets World deserves all the love for giving us a follow-up to Mr. Turner. He survived, married his nurse, became superintendent of schools in New York, and admitted he'd always wished he'd adopted Shawn.

To this day, I'm still wondering why Ben Savage not only ghosted the main cast, but why he chose to not be apart of Pod Meets World. He's in politics now, but I still wonder if he knows some things we don't and that's why he's keeping his distance.
Look into the Nickelodeon documentary Quiet on the Set. Rider Strong and Will Friedle showed support to the guy who molested Drake Bell. That might've played apart?

There's a fun fact that you really missed an opportunity on. While you mentioned that Ben and Danielle never dated in real life, William and Bonnie were also a couple during the show, but are actually married in real life. You dropped the ball on that one.
Ahhh. She played Dorothy's new friend in that episode of golden girls where she belonged to a 'restricted' country club.
Boy Meets World is a prime example of how reboots and the hyper fixation on nostalgia ruins the legacy of the show. I loved this show and up until a few years ago kept my tv on the repeats whenever I found them. All the behind the scenes messiness coming out ruined the way I view the show and now I can't watch it at all. And it all could have been avoided if they left it alone and just collected their residual checks.
I'm fairly certain that the drama specifically involving Trina was known before Girl Meets World was a concept. There were more than a few commentaries about it on this very platform.
But if that bothers you, I can't imagine the amount of hairl pulling you did when you find out the political leanings of some of the greatest actors/actresses of our time.
@@willdiesel8431 if it was known to you, great. I didn’t hear about it until Girl Meets World and their podcast so once I found out, I stopped supporting. Especially since as a little black girl, Angela and Shawn were the draw for me. Also yes, when I find out that famous people are associated with things that are over my “separate the art from the artist” line, I stop supporting, no hair pulling necessary.
No one should be silent about their mistreatment just for your enjoyment of an old show. It wasnt enjoyable for them. Tf

I loved Shawn and Angela relationship on the show to me they’re relationship was more realistic than Cory and Topanga relationship was been betrayed I’m gonna keep it 100% real. The reason why Angela and Shawn relationship never worked out on the show because you had prejudice people behind the scenes that didn’t like the fact that the interracial couple was becoming more popular than the white couple. That’s why when girl meets world came out we all know it was supposed to be Cory and Topanga’s daughter with Shawn and Angela’s biracial daughter

If people are treated badly on set they shouldn't have to wait 20 years to say something. Not saying anything means they ones who 'bullied' you really never faces any consequences. Any of those around who treated her badly had 20 more years of their careers to continue that behavior to others.

What I understand, and obviously I am not 100% sure if this is true, but, what I heard was that Ben Savage wanted nothing more to do with Ryder Strong or Will, the Eric Will not the Feeny Will, because the two of them stood by Brian Peck and not only went to court to support him but they both also wrote letters to the judge trying to get him a lesser sentence for what he did to Drake Bell. Again, I’m not sure if this is true but if it is than that is truly disgusting and I give Ben so much respect for having the courage to stand up against people that he had such a close relationship with for so many years in order to stick with his beliefs and do what was right. What a true class act. It could not have been easy for him.

Fun fact: In 1990, Ben Savage had a brief appearance with his brother Fred in one episode of The Wonder Years, playing the part of a kid dressed as cupid.
I remember googling trina mcgee about a decade ago. Before the times up revelations about her treatment on BMW and seeing her hanging out with the actor i knew to be the gay football that hit on malik on an episode of the game. The same actor played a football player on the short lived show playmakers, too. I didn't know they'd married, but i saw so many pix of them.
Trina on BMW is another example, like shelly from blossom, of how diverse (tokenism) shows have been for decades. I don't see how diverse casting is woke, all of a sudden.

I literally grew up with this show, and seeing how Trina was treated has forever changed my view of Boy Meets World. Growing up I loved Angela and thought she was well written and surprisingly progressive at the time considering how 90s tv was for black women, but hearing about her treatment makes me sad. I'm glad Trina is doing well and most of the main culprits have apologized, but she shouldn't have had to experience that in the first place. Michael Jacobs sounds like a nightmare.

I loved this show as a kid so much that I have a lot of bmw t shirts. Shangela and Tory were my favorite couples but Shangela felt more realistic.
I know what you mean about Shangela. I did like how they were portrayed. Their debut episode in Season 5 was flavorful and I loved their Season 6 storylines especially how they handled Shawn’s own issues outside of the relationship and how it affected them as a couple like when he became a freshman and also the poem episode.
Good show. People have apologized and made amends. There is drama in every world environment. Be done.

u left out how danielle made fun of trina's hair back in the day cuz it took so long to style trina's hair. u left out how maitland is a porn star now and she thinks its the reason why danielle wont speak to her or invite her to her wedding. u left out how the executive producers had maitland model for them in lingerie, while trying to come up for storylines for her character. u left out how ben's brother guest starred on the show in that one SA ep and then decades later he was accused of SA himself and was fired from the wonder years reboot. u left out how maitland wasnt asked to do girl meets world cuz of her porn and how everytime they have a reunion thing, she is always left out. u left out trina is preg. at age 50 something and how maitland doesnt believe her and wants to see proof. u left out how ben is running for a office in the gov. u also left out how this one guy who guest starred on the show, is now in jail for doing something with underage kids and how the cast was creeped out by him

I don't wanna burst your bubble if this is anyone's 1 of many favorite shows, but it's not a funny hahaha sitcom, it's more like a funny ha (good one!) type of sitcom. I would only watch it in the 90s when there was nothing better on TV or even cable. But in general it's an entertaining show. I don't hate it.
I never cared for the black token character on tv shows. It was always cringe to me. I can't stand it in the workplace, but the stories you hear, you wouldn't think there were issues on set since the acting/ professionalism was top-notch
