1939 Emergency Air Corps Ration US Pilot Survival Food MRE Review
Вставка

- Find out what's inside this rare, mysterious, and expensive ration never before filmed. Used by pilots, and issued in back pad kits during WW2, it evolved into the Parachute Ration, and then Emergency Parachute Ration, which eventually becomes Food Packet Survival General Purpose. A pioneering and historical survival ration. The budget to this video was a tad high, but it was certainly worth the exclusive look.
Up next for vintage US Survival equipment is the E-17 Pilot Survival Kit.
I'm also releasing a never before filmed K ration prototype soon - stay tuned.

Steve’s superhuman strength activating the moment a broken key stands between him and 80 year old chocolate.
Literally nothing could stop him at that moment
I'm amazed there was not blood!
thats the reason he lifts weights
Totally became Popeye going for the spinach

Wow, the poem that comes on the fishing kit is incredible. It's educational, inspiring for the soldier, has parts to talk to the others about or dwell on alone. A message from home in a hard time. I'm surprised we don't see more poetry on emergency rations like this.
Yeah I found that part to be real charming too.
It's not a bad idea. Just a few moments worth of print that might give a downed pilot a moment of comfort or a chuckle in what is likely a very bad time. It costs almost nothing and if it has even a chance of helping, then why not?
It was awesome, I can imagine a soldier far away from home in a horrible situation reading that and hopefully finding comfort.
The culture was all invested at the time
It is a small morale booster
Fresh out of the jungle, Steve blessed us with an MRE he totally didn't fetch off a soldier's skeleton that was totally not mauled by jungle wildlife
Nice
Exactly how I like to think where he gets these.
If it was ancient wildlife, then we know Steve was the one doing the mauling.
Biden’s cannibalized uncle
Not an MRE.
That kit is in _remarkably_ good condition. Wow. Treasured find. Hard to believe the kit has survived pretty much in near-mint condition for best part of 85 years.
You can imagine someone finding a bunch of them at the back of a warehouse after they've been in storage for 80 years - and then donating them to a charity shop without realising that they have two magazines of .45 and a bunch of 12 gauge shotgun shells...
@@AshleyPomeroy why is that a problem? It's a part of the kit, you really gonna sell a half empty kit because it has something you don't like??
@@AshleyPomeroy Sounds like an extra cool find to me. I'd love to own authentic WW2 era ammo.
@@hellishcyberdemon7112 May I ask how you came to the conclusion of "it has something you don't like"?
@@PartTimeLaowai because they are talking about it being scary that these kits are sold with guns and ammo
Holy crap, Steve's not dead from eating questionable mre's? Welcome back.
Dudes indestructible at this point.
Eating the chinese ones gave him an upgrade
I’m pretty sure his gut biome has been altered. He’d survive anything.
He’s like that dude who can get bit by all types of snakes without it affecting him. Resistance is off the charts.
Gods can't die
Whether foreign food or kit on the wing, Steve he comes and does his thing.
Opening up a box in a careful display we get those bits out onto a tray. A pensieve word here and there, Steve goes about his work with care.
"Nice" he says as he begins, the audience across the world often grins, seeing him eat and test and taste the products others long laid to waste.
Whether in a can or condensed or dried, the Type 2 coffee or fatty bacon rinds, fruit preserves long past their best and cool trinkets from East and West, the clock winds back before our eyes. In each package a new surprise.
Now the presentation comes to an end, Steve gives his thanks and bids his adieu.
Thankyou, mate, for all you do!
Wow man that was top tier. Thank you! nice
alright cool, see ya
In my opinion that foldable machete is priceless. I would cherish that thing
Ive seen a couple of well used ones in army/navy stores over the years. If I remember right they were about $400. I wonder how much that new one he has is worth.
@@ChickumBurtango It's so cool. I with they made a replica.
Cattaraugus is a pretty sought-after maker for pre-WW2 and WW2 knives. One of my "if shit goes south" knives is a Cattaraugus 225Q that's been rehandled with Bakelite.

That kit is in remarkable shape. Replace the perishables and it could be used today.
It’s amazing to me that this man doesn’t put ads on his videos even with 2 million subs. It speaks volumes about his character and integrity. Maybe he makes enough doing his real job or just isn’t motivated by money like 98% of people.
I wish he would so his hobby can at least fund itself.. but his financials are none of our business i guess
I think he runs an online MRE store. So his videos are also a sales pitch. Really good marketing if you think of it.
@@Swampyankeehomestead I checked one of those websites out and in the entire website there is only one MRE available
@@Swampyankeehomestead don't yell at me please I'm sorry that i upset you but you don't need to abuse me I'm already crying
@TPW13 your good. I was mistaken I thought Steve had something to do with an MRE distributor. Guess I was mistaken. Also I yell alot because I'm deaf. Don't take offense to my loud voice.

The disappointment of spending 10 minutes opening the box just to find chocolate haha
better than an entire tin of charms lol
Chocolate that was designed to be barely edible so it wouldn't be eaten unless really needed.
I hesitate to call D-Ration bars chocolate. 😅
CHOCOLATE!!??!!!!??!!!!🤪
@@brandonberry1764 I remember when they first made chocolate
This kit is one of the more organized I’ve seen , everything has a little place. That machete is sick…Too cool
thanks for the review again Steve. ✌️🙃
Steve is not just for the guys! This girl loves to watch him!! Thanks Steve what a treat!!💜🙏
I always just sorta assumed Steve's followers are all women and us not quite gay dudes.... because Steve is a chunk of hunk ugghh ❤❤❤
I’m also a gal who loves Steve’s videos. 👍
Me too 😊

Oh yes we love looking at Steve 🤤🤪
When you’re getting ready for bed and the notification of a new video from Steve appears you know that you’re no longer going to sleep 😂

6 magazines worth of 1911. Nice! Always a treat to see an upload. Thanks, Steve.
Hey mumzly! I was tempted to dig in further on the rounds, but decided to keep them sealed and whatnot. What a kit!
@@Steve1989MRE I don't blame you. Most of us know what a 45acp looks like anyway. They really haven't changed in the past 110+ years. Better to keep them sealed up.
Your videos are really my favorite thing to watch, always happy to see you upload
Hey right on that's awesome, thanks so much. I'm workin on two more right now, alright cool, see ya
Imagine being stranded on some Pacific island with Steve, and he's excited about getting to use the survival rations.
LOL Steve could eat literally anything while we'd prob die 4 times
Hard tack and washed-up jellyfish ......Nice!
At least, he'd be pleasant company :) .
I'm still in awe of the things you're able to acquire, even after all these years
Survival kits were using that style of pocketknife until the 1960s, my father was in the branch that issued
them to aircrew, I have 2 of them that he brought home, as well as an original pilot helmet with oxygen mask.
Was general issue into the 60s
I am a blessed woman today, Steve, to have this keep me company while I accomplish various tasks around my house. Thank you. Nice!
Nice!
Oh shit! Glad to see you back buddy!
Nice! alright cool, see ya
@@Steve1989MRE Good to see you. Hope one day you manage to find a WW2 Mountain Ration and a WW2 Jungle Ration. They were issued to soldiers from 1942 to 1943 until they were replaced by the K-ration(though they did continued to be issued until 1944). The J-ration actually had two variations-the first one was lighter in weight and had higher quality meats like salted beef which was later replaced by heavier and cheaper canned meat like spam, tinned beef and pork loaf. Both of those rations are incredible rare and hard to find, few photos of them even exist.
Steve is the ONLY UA-camr I will watch the complete ad and click on it, just so he gets max pay. Steve is my favorite UA-camr, and im not some big mre fan, i just enjoy watching how passionate he is about MRE's. Its so relaxing and enjoyable to watch steve in action. I will always support you, ok, nice.
Exactly I have no real interest in ration packs and I don't even know how or why I found his channel but I watch every video
These videos are so interesting. Napoleon said an army marches on its stomach. All the rations that you review prove that that is true
He probably ate of napoleon's rations as well.
Got a 9 hour layover in an airport tonight. Thank you Steve for blessing us with these videos tonight.
Gotta love Steve1989 dropping videos casually on a Sunday night. Now I'm sorted until bedtime. Nice.
Nice.
The contents of the kit is great but I think the most awesome aspect is the packing - compressed fiber, cotton canvas with hay fill - even then in the kit the goggles made of leather. Not a polymer in sight. A world without forever polymers is a world we can return to.
BABE WAKE UP NEW STEVE JUST DOUBLE DROPPED
I actually did that. She laughed but told me to watch it in the living room so she could sleep.
When steveMRE drops a video. Its time to get the popcorn, hear it hissssss from the microwave, and enjoy a relaxing Sunday evening.
Nice.
espeically if its an old timey ration!!!.
with the modern ones i dont really care to be honest... boring.
At this point the new videos are just reassuring proof he didn’t die of food poisoning
"Bet they were having fun with these"
I assure you Steve. If they needed the *survival* ration. They in fact were not having fun 😂
NICE to have you back
Nice
Nice job Steve that's one of the best ones you've done in a while now
Man I'm in awe of that emergency pack. It just oozes quality. You can't even buy things that nice now.
Because they figured out most of us are dopes that will buy crap, and then we'll whine about how the corporations are screwing us while still giving them record profits.
You sure can.
Look up the stuff from Eberlestock or Mystery Ranch.
nice
I was amazed at the condition of all items. They must have been stored under ideal conditions. Too bad about the chocolate
I love the old survival kit reviews! They are incredibly fascinating to go through.
Its been a long time since I last watched this channel, happy I found it again❤

It is always appreciated the way you document everything. That even when things are disappointing you still put a good wholesome spin on it. Never change my friend!
My dad is in the hospital right now. I needed this. Thanks again Steve
I hope he gets well soon.
thank you for keeping the history alive i love the chance to see this stuff. i get so happy when you open it and we get to really see whets inside
Steve just casually uploading a video like it's an average Sunday. Never change, Steve. 😊
dang. I haven't watched you in a while...you sure haven't changed a bit, and I love it. Keep up the amazing historical work, because this stuff needs to be more widely known. Not sure if it's because I have a father, cousin, and a few uncles who were in the military, but this stuff has always been a passive interest of mine, for sure. My dad told me a couple stories about some of the stuff he did while in the military (1980-1984), and I wanted to learn more. Then I found your channel and have been watching and catching up ever since.
Much appreciated content as usual, Steve.
You're still alive and still doing this. Real hero, wish I had such balls and life filled with adventurous tastes.
2 at the same time? We are blessed today
The last couple have been two vids at once. It's welcome as ever, but not unusual.
All of his recent uploads have been twofers

Every time he uploads im thankful the last one didn't kill him.
What a special ration! Thank you so much for finding and sharing this with us.
Who needs the damn key when you've got SteveMRE hands!!
Even if the meal was disappointing, the kit itself was super interesting. The folding machete was neat!
Thanks for posting!
My favorite UA-cam notification to see. Nice!

he ate all the MREs and never died it is as it written he truly is the " Lisan Al-Gaib" of the MREs Nice !
It is written.

Very nice, Good unboxing of real vintage items.👍 Those old paratrooper chocolate tins won a lot of battles without soldiers. 😚 After eating the chocolate, the tins were heavily used as dishes. 🍫 Even the soldered sealing metal strip, was useful as a handle, or to move something hot. 😊
nice!
I started watching your videos during the covid pandemic shutdown, hearing the opening music of the videos really brings back memories.
Naming a league for the blind 'Newview' is some top-tier trolling.

Great to See you back in action Steve !
Steve just somehow knows when the world will be teetering, and he jumps in and saves us with videos at the perfect moment.
Thank you, Steve! This is just what I needed
steve would be the kind of guy to somehow get his hands on a perfect mre from 1200 bce and say “Nice.”
Look at how heavy duty and well made everything is. Absolutely incredible.
IK,R?! Failure was not an option when they put this kit together. The morale boost this kit would have provided to downed airmen must have been tremendous. Nothing says, "you are important and cared for", like a quality survival kit.
Thank you so much for giving me some insight into how my father stayed in the fight and what he got to eat. He was in the Army during the Korean War and the Navy in the Vietnam War. He passed away about 5 years ago. I thought he was tough on me and my brother growing up but now I see how he helped make me the man I am today. Nice
Always a good day when we get a new steve video!
So awesome to have comments on a new video to read
