Simon comes across as the sort of guy that works in IT or Finance. He demonstrated that he was able to think for himself and to take new information on board with an open mind. Complete contrast to so many constables that TPONTP and other auditors have interacted with.

You can see from his manner that at first he has considerable difficulty in weighing the situation up as TPONTP cites the various reasons why it is not illegal for him to be doing what he is doing. This underlines the fact that most of the controversy that Auditing engenders results from an abreaction to things that are merely ABNORMAL. Making the effort to consider and identify anything that is clearly ILLEGAL seldom occurrs. Well done to TPONTP for going to the trouble of clarifying that he is not doing anything ILLEGAL, the Law does not oblige him to but in doing so he is acting with due consideration to human foibles. Quite apart from the fact that not only is he expressing a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT he is putting himself well beyond a plausible acusation of 'causing harassment, distress and alarm' by doing this. I think that Auditors are well advised to show such a consideration and deference towards such vulnerabilities in others, it puts them in a strong position and well beyond reasonable criticism. Well done also to other Auditors who adopt this policy, Auditing is a recent development and so there will likely be issues that need to be ironed out in order to ensure that this valuable and necessary innovation of public participation in the process of improving governmental and social services continues to be fruitfull in ensuring that we have a Government and society that serves and secures the legitimate rights and interests of all those of goodwill or at least no malign and inequitable effect upon the interests of others of their kind. This is after all how it should be, though currently in many respects it is not! Power tends to corrupt and currently we have a system of Government that is often arrogant, self serving, or ingratiates itself to the interests of a Plutocracy. Checks and balances upon power and a climate of accountability to the general populace need to exist and they should be harboured within the ranks of those that are subject to the Law and not just those charged with the responsibility of making and enforcing it.
