  • SAGE (Serial Analysis of Gene Expression) is a molecular technique used to get information about the transcription profile. The mRNA is converted into cDNA and short fragments of the cDNA are self ligated to form a long chain, which is finally ligated into a plasmid. The insert present in the plasmid is amplified by PCR and sent for DNA sequencing. The sequencing analysis will give information about the presence of genes (that formed the mRNA) and their copy number.
