Truly amazing! If I may take some of your time to read this message. Your father was a perfectionist. His experience of making cabinets has shone through. Everything you look at these as I do will give you happiness and pleasure. I collect diecast model aircraft and I do this as hopefully they shall be worth something for my daughter to remember me by in the years to come. Also if we look at the numbers, at 148 models, if he had have theoretically completed 1 per month, it would take more than 12 years to have completed them all. A truly staggering amount of work went into that collection :)
Gorgeous collection! Years ago I dreamed of building as many aircraft types as I could. The problem I ran into was OCD. I didn't want to just build a Curtiss P-1. I wanted to build a P-1, P-1a, P-1b etc. The other problem was that I'm poor and live in an apartment, so space is at a premium. Instead, I build a handful of World War 1 aircraft, sticking to the oddballs. I do have one plane in a museum - the Boeing 299, the prototype B-17. As I said, a collection to be proud of.
An aviation historical society that will appreciate this awesome and historical collection . An aviation museum . Do not sell this you may regret it . In these societies devoted to aviation history this collection will live for ever . Once again thank you .
I built so many of those same kits. Great job committing the collection to video. Lots of rare birds in that collection. ....You might also consider spending a laborious day taking still closeups of details, such as any custom work or detailed painting, then make a collage, and post said collage.

My mistake, or the a/c at 01:05 must be an F6F-3, bacause in the F6F-5, the small windows, after the sliding canopy, had been eliminated in the production line at Grumman's.

I can not express how much I wish I had the money to buy every last model He/You have. Especially being built by someone who obviously had a love for it. They would be adored and guarded with life and limb.
Beautiful collection. Though I think a couple planes are of different scales, the P51 and F82 seem to be. So awesome though, as kid I remember building many of the kits you have here, they are all long gone. I have 3 fighters now, and 2 dozen cars, to restart myself in the hobby.
Very well built and detailed. I'm about the same timespan having 180 in 72nd scale as well. However, constant relocation had me build a cabinet of clear plexiglass and wood. Each level is about 12 inches high, 32 X 42 inches with 1 to 2 slideout clear shelves. Each section carries like a suitcase when not stacked, everything secured by clear plastic wire and lighted. It stands 7 feet high...it's worked out very nicely except for one thing. It's a sealed cabinet BUT it still has DUST! One thing I found out from my early planes on the ceiling is DUST...no regrets to the hobby though...
I recognize most of those kits. Many are from the very large Airfix range of 1/72 scale aircraft, some are from Revell, some from Frog, some from Monogram, and some from Heller. Probably other companies as well. I built a great many of these myself over the years, starting way back in the early 1960's.
I was in VP-48 in the late seventies, early eighties. VP-50 was one of our sister squadrons. You may have been told this before, but the main cabin door on your P-3 model is incorrectly installed. The door opened in and then slid sideways like an airliner. This is not to take away from your work. You have a great collection!

I don't see anyting wrong in selling them. Agree with P. Gerald, bit I think that there must be a lot of parties interested in them as a whole piece of collection or as individual pieces. A musseum might be interested. I wound not be surprice if such a superb collection had not been sold by now. I would keep a complete photographic record of each piece as a memento of my father's interest but I'm gonna be honest as a frustrated modeller , since I myself have tried ton put together some of the planes shown (B25, B17, Corsair..): preserving this collection requires dedicación...time and sharing the very same love and passion obviously invested in them.
