Its a shame Carne went to Union in 1997 where his career fizzled out. He could have had a bigger legacy if he had stayed in league. Not sure if I would call Carne, "underrated', he played Origin and Test football and was considered the best winger in the game for quite a few years. I think more forgotten about than anything else.
Even though there were dodgy calls and dodgy plays(Daley play the ball for one😁).....it was still a better watch than the constant video replays nowadays. Players and coaches just accepted calls and got on with it.
Poor Martin Bella,he was dazed & confused from that Laurie Daley tackle,he played the ball wrong🤦♂️ I think that's his final game for queensland. What a shame he didn't win a premiership in the Sydney competition
I grew up on the WINFIELD CUP and this State of Origin era ... more brutal, more physical and more intense that todays game. While I love the NRL, the rules have really taken out the brutality of the game. No different to how Rugby Union's rules have removed 'rucks' onto the backs to clear the rucks ... instead they are going for more athletic and fast pace of the game ... that takes away the true nature of Rugby League and Rugby Union ... a brutal, physical contest of the game. Just saying.
As Billy Moore would say "Queenslander !!!" What a game. Freddy remembers this one. You don't give the cane toads and inch.
Amazing game and amazing competition. Rarely more than a whisker between the two sides. Carne was such a star too. Very underrated player.

What great commentry at the end.
"Where he appeared to knock on in the tackle" 😂🤣

One of the greatest origin tries. From either side.
Watched this live when I was little kid in primary school loves you Mal 💪💪💪💪💪
The right corner in the city end was memorable
If only you uploaded highlights of this length for the current games

Remarkable!
MORE OF THESE PLEASE !
It’s game of what if, what if Brasher’s ‘offside’ try was allowed. This game had some what if’s, but it was always destined for the miracle try!
Daley's play the ball where he didn't even get up or Chief's knock on before half time
The first NSW try shouldn’t have been allowed.
It levels out.
Even if Brasher's try was onside, NSW never should have had the ball since Harragon knocked on in the tackle.
Rugby League in the 1990s was so much better than now!
So true
Put game 1 and game 2 2014 up they were classics
Rob floating pass to renoulf was forward
no way did Daley play that ball correctly in the first try 😅
