Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock. Saw them here in Indiana in a 1500 seat hall. Definitely a good date night for 50-something's like me. Thanks for a great lesson.
that was much more than a guitar tutorial. It was an awesome display of talent. great vocals! I will be watching this over and over again. Thanks for a very well done video.
As an avowed rock lover, I will never admit that I've watched this particular lesson and learned this song. I will just tell my wife and friends its a long-lost Zep tune when I play it ;)
"If you were a rock fan, and I was, you were sorta obligated to detest Air Supply... but as I have gotten older, I am less of a snob on that stuff." *Classic,* my sentiments exactly
You and I are alike. I tried to learn guitar since I was in high school in the late 1970s. I didn't know anybody who knew how to play and I'd buy a book and practice and give up. I'd pick it up every once in a while and then give up. Then youtube came around and all the sudden I can watch people who know much more than I do show me the proper way to hold a guitar, how to string it, tune it and how to do anything I had questions about. I picked out people like you who had years of practice and a love of what you do. I learned so much and am still learning. It hurt me to hear that people were offensive to you. Like you, I don't remember the names of a lot of chords but I love to play and play everyday. Now there isn't a song I can't play after a short time of practice. Thank you for giving of your time and talent, Steve
I remember when Air Supply were standard fare on Am radio. They cranked out quite a few hits, this one included. Great tune for guitar! Thanks for another excellent lesson!
lmao......I remember that, listening to Air Supply was taboo. your so right, as we get older(and wiser?) realizing when good music is good music. That's what makes your vids great to watch the diversity in styles and genres plus your laidback style. Thanks!!
Loyalty challenge accepted, and embraced. That unique chord sounds like something Nancy Wilson would do....Thanks for the lesson!! My Mom will like this one :)
I saw Air Supply last Fall in Cleveland...I was perplexed at the way Graham Russell plays...it was confusing...left-handed & upside down. I know there are others that play like this...it amazes me!............................... Welcome back, BTW!
I appreciate that you teach a wide array of music. This is a good song I grew up with and I love it.Theres nothing better than a good ole love song!!I love that every time I think of a song I want to learn or I hear a song on the radio and I look it up on your site, 99% of the time you have it.Thank you!!You're outstanding!!
I'm just sayin', --- I've been sittin' here enjoying plain' guitar with you for muchos anos, --- and I'm running across it and in the mood to learn and practice some Air Supply once again, and I always count on you to take me there.... Muchas Gracias.
Well done and love your sense of humor - yes, age often brings wisdom and wisdom tends to reduce snobbery. Good music will always get through - eventually! Thanks again and very happy that you've continued your gifts for us through this new channel.
You are right about not needing the picking pattern. What you are graciously helping us with has to do with chord progressions added with occasional interesting natural (playable lol) embellishments. These teachings "well serve" anyone starting off from campfire tunes, on up to higher prestigious stages. Well done sir! ........as a footnote: The fancy finger work and nastalgia effect may reel in the ladies too... lol Keep it rockin..cheers
My only request is for you to keep doing what you're doing as long as it makes you happy. As for the "funny chord", if it has to have a name, it's an A Major, with the C# moved up from the 2nd fret B string to the 4th fret A string. It does indeed have a beautiful voicing. Thank you for your kindness and generosity to all of us with your teachings and good humor.
I was never a big fan of Air Supply but my girlfriend was. This album was almost always played at some point during our dates. Oh yeah, that girlfriend is now my wife. So thanks for the flashback!
I was just listening to Carpenters Greatest Hits this morning before I checked out this lesson so I know exactly what you are saying when you talk about Air Supply. I turned 50 this year so maybe the Rock has Rolled in me a little bit more now. Thank you for continuing, I never really had time to read comments and didn't quite understand why you moved your channel and at first thought it was a joke because you have a good sense of humor. I normally spent my time studying and appreciating what each youtube poster was sharing, even if it wasn't perfect or even good there was always something to take away and I don't have the time to make comments, supportive or otherwise. Since you moved your channel I began to read a lot of the comments in the guitar lessons and covers I watch and realize how ignorant people in this world are. And where are all these amazing guitar players? Now I get why you did what you did. I have watched, played along and commented on a lesson for Lost in Love by Air Supply this morning after listening to Carpenters. I better get back to the Stones and Led Zep now before some Internet badass comments on my activity.
I am a 'pt' fan from day one .. and I treasure your quality archive there, your presentation, depth of knowledge, superb skills and your wit. I agree with you .. as I get older I get mellower and more open to memory songs such as these. Many thanks as always 'jj' from one of your many loyal and appreciative fans ! Never think we do not appreciate your quality lessons !
I was a Senior in high school in 79 and funny, but I was just the opposite. I was more of a pop and lite Rock fan in 79 (ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, some STYX stuff like that) and liked some Hard Rock but wasn't much into it but since I started playing guitar since about 1982 I begin to like more Rock and have a better appreciation for it.
This is a very pleasing song. Like it :) thank you for the tutorial. Reminds me that a nice song can work well with just guitar all on its own. Thank you, Man!
This is only a test, LOL Yeah it's funny how music I felt obligated to hate back in those days is actually kinda interesting after I've matured and played for a while. Nice job and WELCOME TO THE INTERNET! We can use a guy like you!
Don't get me wrong I was a rocker back in the day, but my tastes were always a bit eclectic....I really kinda dug Air Supply back then/now!!! Learning a lot from your channel and glad of the musical diversity. Cool beans!!!
I still remember the name of the girl I dated in the 80's that put in an Air Supply cassette in my car stereo. I was nervous because cassettes got stuck in the stereo or my stereo ate them. Everything was OK with cassette but Lost in Love was always a guilty pleasure. Best post to date.
Great as always, good luck on this new channel. Been a fan for a long time and support the changes. The quality is there and this will grow like the PT channel. Keep up the good work and teaching me new things!
BTW.....I'm sure I'm echoing everybody's thoughts here......Don't delete the Privettricker account.....It's a priceless vault of guitar vids that we all go to when we want to remember that one song from awhile ago. Thanks so much for your dedication.
awesome choice! brings me back to Jr. high dances and being carted around in my parents Country Squier while my mom belted this one out . I agree that as I have aged my appreciation of the lighter stuff has increased. Especially as I continue to work on my own songwriting dittys . How about some Commodores ; ) (if you havent already )
This one takes me WAY back. A guilty pleasure song I will admit to is, Coming Up Close by Til Tuesday, which I first watched/heard on MTV back in the day. Just to be clear, your videos on the PT channel are priceless to me. I've got you beat by a few years but I finally decided to take up guitar a few years back and have been hooked since I've learned enough to follow along. I've got a long way to go though, so please leave them up! Again, Thanks a million!
Its a beautiful song....no need to be embarrassed about liking it, you've got excellent musical taste.... How about doing "Love grows where my Rosemary goes" and perhaps some Raspberries selections!
I love all your videos James, keep up the good work! Even though I can’t play guitar myself because of my disability, I really enjoy watching you play! The two main guys that you hear are Graham Russell from England who is the writer of this song and many others, and Russell Hitchcock from Australia who sings the “you know you can’t fool me” part. I have seen them twice in concert, and they are a must see if they come your way. I am also blessed to say that I am best friends with them! The version that you were playing is from the album that my father and I listen to a lot, “The Singer And The Song.” I really like how you did this, I am a HUGE Airhead (that’s what they call their fans), and this is one of my favorite songs of theirs! I hope and pray that both of the guys get to see this soon if they haven’t already! I know Graham would be really impressed with your guitar playing! This is very helpful for guitar players of all ages too. Please do videos of other Air Supply songs including “All Out Of Love,” “Two Less Lonely People In The World,” and others!
What a great song - and lesson in how to play it yourself. The brilliant Graham Russel - and his Lead Vocalist, Russel Hitchcock. Together they are Air Supply. But the odd chord is probably easy to do left handed...
Kinda same way on Air Supply as I came to actually enjoy and still do Bread. Even though it's just 1 slice since David is only one left. Another cool Air Supply I like is Sweet Dreams.
I listened on the edge of my seat waiting for the high vocal part in the 3rd chorus. You can hit that high note, but it involves a pair of vise grips and some Tylenol afterwards. 😅
Air Supply, that's funny. But I caught myself trying to learn eric Carmen, raspberry please baby go all the way! I'm 56 and it's funny how tastes change
JJ: You once referred to " I've done everything for you..." as a guilty pleasure. At the time, I thought to myself that as a musician and an audiophile, you must have some REAL guilty pleasures. Well....this is it! Great Job as always. To answer your question...Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock are Air Supply.
Not a test of loyalty at all!! I'm 46 years old and I love this song! Thanks for sharing!
Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock. Saw them here in Indiana in a 1500 seat hall. Definitely a good date night for 50-something's like me. Thanks for a great lesson.
I find myself digging old tunes that I would have never listened to back then.....you listen with a finer ear...thanx for your effort
Your comments were just hilarious and so so true. I was born in '60, 18 in 1978. My wife of thirty-one years is gonna love this one! Thanks.
Awesome for anyone that grew up in the 80's and is Ok with saying they liked Air Supply! Thanks
Nice performance. Air Supply is one of my favorite group. Regards from Indonesia..
Great lesson brilliant song thanks James best wishes Colin UK 🇬🇧 👍

I love that you did this song. I had the album as a kid.
"If you were a rock fan, and I was, you were sorta obligated to detest Air Supply... but as I have gotten older, I am less of a snob on that stuff."
*Classic,* my sentiments exactly
Same...love air supply now. Beautiful version you guys
Just can't knock such an outstanding vocal song as this. Will always be a great.
What a beautiful melody! Many thanks !
Indeed....a beautiful song

It is a great tune..in my later years like you...lol. Funny how we change with time...
I remember when Air Supply were standard fare on Am radio. They cranked out quite a few hits, this one included. Great tune for guitar! Thanks for another excellent lesson!
Superb as always!
I was there (late 70's), indeed detested them and also later learned to appreciate their music.
lmao......I remember that, listening to Air Supply was taboo. your so right, as we get older(and wiser?) realizing when good music is good music. That's what makes your vids great to watch the diversity in styles and genres plus your laidback style. Thanks!!
please dont let the haters get you down ! you are a big part of my guitar playing man ! thank you !
this song is still better then any crap that comes out today.
Agreed
I was in High School when this came it out. Couldn't admit it at the time, but this is a great guitar song.
Beautiful song. You play it the exact the way they play it when doing the acoustic version. Thank you for posting it.
I think you're right about the chords in this song - very pretty. That's what attracts me to most of the songs I play. Most of us mellow with age too.
hey ......real nice. I just started playing.....and that's one of my fav songs. Always will be.
Just another great song. Thanks for that. Love your range of music. Keep it coming.
Loyalty challenge accepted, and embraced. That unique chord sounds like something Nancy Wilson would do....Thanks for the lesson!! My Mom will like this one :)

You are singing too....dang. You keep us fans mystified. It's kind of like KISS in the 80s.
Amazing man! And this second voice!!!! Uauuu wonderful!!!!!
That is a cool chord! It's precisely why I came here,I knew there was something unusual about it...
I want you to know how much I appreciate you doing these videos! You’re a hellova teacher
I'm just sayin', --- I've been sittin' here enjoying plain' guitar with you for muchos anos, --- and I'm running across it and in the mood to learn and practice some Air Supply once again, and I always count on you to take me there.... Muchas Gracias.
Thanks PT "James" still love all you do.
Well done and love your sense of humor - yes, age often brings wisdom and wisdom tends to reduce snobbery. Good music will always get through - eventually! Thanks again and very happy that you've continued your gifts for us through this new channel.
I'm just learning to play guitar and want to learn the songs I grew up with. So cheers for Air Supply! Please do more!
great acoustic tune!!
Dude, u are the best guitar guy on the internet. everything is always perfect. Thanks
Awesome, this tune has great progressions and chording ! THX,
Thanks James, appreciate what you do and share! keep rocking! Brent, Louisville,Ky.
Man you said it......that is some test of loyalty even with the good chords.
David Mainwaring I'll concede that point, but is it any worse than REM?
I can't honestly say it is.... between the devil and the deep blue sea there's not a whole lot of choice going on
Yes chicks do like it and it is a lovely song no matter what genre your talking about.
You are right about not needing the picking pattern. What you are graciously helping us with has to do with chord progressions added with occasional interesting natural (playable lol) embellishments. PT, I was born in 70, I too love my Rock, But I find my self liking a lot of stuff I didn't back then.. Keep it up man

Thanks great song, even guilty pleasures can be a great song
You're right about "chicks dig Air" also, thanks for showing the mystery chord!
Thanks for the new channel. Loved the old channel and I already know I'll love the new one. Cheers.
Nice playing,thanks for sharing
Hey Air Supply is a guilty pleasure like ABBA, a great song is still a great song, your manhood is still intact.
I was just listening to Carpenters Greatest Hits this morning before I checked out this lesson so I know exactly what you are saying when you talk about Air Supply. I turned 50 this year so maybe the Rock has Rolled in me a little bit more now.

The first concert I went to was Air Supply and Cheap Trick. I couldn't stand them at the time! That has changed for me as well.
Absolutely awesome!

I loved air supply in the 70s and 80s wowed a lot of ladies with them
Air Supply, late Chicago, Bellamy Brothers, Exile, all guilty pleasures :)
This is a very pleasing song. Like it :)
thank you for the tutorial. Reminds me that a nice song can work well with just guitar all on its own. Thank you, Man!
great melodious tune! I took some crap from friends for liking it. no worries.
I came from PT channel and always like your lessons. Thanks you for this.
I'm a little older than you but I actually like this song. Didn't care much for their other stuff but this one was a well crafted song.
This is only a test, LOL
Yeah it's funny how music I felt obligated to hate back in those days is actually kinda interesting after I've matured and played for a while.

BTW, I grew up just outside of Buffalo, so the jersey was a nice touch.
Great thank you Colin UK 🇬🇧 👍 😀
Song as an ethereal, floating, fairy tale quality to it (especially the original). I think that is the appeal.
Glad to see you on your new channel ! Well done, and girls do love it , guess I'll have to learn this one !
Beautiful thanks so much.
thank you so much! simple and clear and unaffected. cheers.
Great as always, good luck on this new channel. Been a fan for a long time and support the changes. The quality is there and this will grow like the PT channel. Keep up the good work and teaching me new things!

I'm older than you, and in my day the Air Supply slot was filled by Bread. I liked Bread but would never admit it. :-)
Absolutely a chick song. My wife has been bugging me forever to play this song. Thanks JJ.

dude - keep on rocking! and please keep the privettricker videos up, soooo much good stuff.
cheers.
So happy to see you again!!! I'm a follower from your old channel. Keep up the good work Sir! I'm a fan :)
great job !! i liked it !
What a great song - and lesson in how to play it yourself. The brilliant Graham Russel - and his Lead Vocalist, Russel Hitchcock. Together they are Air Supply. But the odd chord is probably easy to do left handed...
definitely one that you let the windows up on at the intersection :), but I was in HS at the time too and have always like the intro
Thanks for not stopping. I'll stay with you as long as you're here.

Found you!!! Love it!
Very good!
lol, so true!! i enjoy this stuff more know that i have aged to it!! lol, great guitar in it!!
