The lead singer is Rob Thomas who was in a band called Matchbox Twenty at the time this came out and they were a famous group on their own. Rob wrote this song for his wife who is the girl in the window dancing next to the fan. You definitely need to check out his music from that band
Great reaction! Carlos Santana is right up there with other top-level guitarists. He and his band have been making amazing music for over 50 years. Lots of his songs have featured singers.
I think the vocal effect at the beginning is supposed to make it sound like it's coming through a radio (which it does). It's used when they show the visuals of the woman looking out the window from her home. Notice it doesn't really kick into 'normal' until the band finishes setting up & everyone is playing in the street. Also that woman was the singer's fiance at the time & now they've been married for like 25 years.
@@elbruces When it goes back to the 2nd verse, they also cut back to the lady in her apt looking out the window. And you just see Carlos & Rob in a room together. The only time you really hear the clear vocals are the shots of him singing w/ the band in the street.
Carlos Santana played at Woodstock, He is one of the greatest guitarists ever. He's unique, if you hear a Santana song you can tell who it is because Carlos' guitar playing is feeling coming through the guitar.
Yes Stax you made it to Santana...this is featuring Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20..Check out Santana Black Magic Woman live and Matchbox 20 3am...you will not be disappointed. This lp won multiple Grammy awards and Santana made a comeback by collaborating with some of the best artists at the time. Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ☮️ ✌️
My Boomer Mom was into Santana (it's a band name, not just him when he's solo) when I thought they were new in the 80s she told me they were old...but this is the only song I know by Rob...but it was on the charts. Spanish vibe.
Maria Maria from the same album is also great - a good one to check out. And Santana’s performance at Woodstock is a must if you’re going down this rabbit hole.
CRASH! PAIN I FEEL by Blahzay Blahzay. Oh yeah some east New York shit. Don't say I never give you something! Love & Peace to all the Stax crew!!! ❤❤❤🇬🇧
It's hard for anything Santana to not sound beyond mortal ability. I still can't get enough of their Soul Sacrifice live at Woodstock, just can't hear it enough. Try a reaction to that, but watch your soul.
Stax, there is 70+ years of Rock to explore, My Man, youre in for a real treat! Theres a reason why it has lasted for so long....because Its the Shiznit! No better Genre, ever! Santana, "Samba Pa Ti" next please!
I love the voice and style of Rob Thomas. You should check out his group Matchbox Twenty. Any of these songs by them is a winner. 3AM. Back To Good. Push. The Real World. Unwell. If You're Gone. Bent.
Yeah, man, Carlos is a BMF with a guitar. I'd put him up there with BB, Slash, and Brian May. There are folks who are better on the technicals but very few who can keep up with knowing what notes fit perfectly (and only playing those notes instead of showing off and ruining it) like those four do.

Well no, the second verse goes back to that distorted vocal effect too.

I don't know if they have block parties any more, but this is what it is-- a big, fun block party.

You've likely heard Santana without knowing it. That's the "groovy" you're hearing. Santana is a guitar LEGEND. Rob Thomas is...ok.
I feel like I have
