Bartosz Kamil Kurek (born 29 August 1988) is a Polish volleyball player, a member of Poland men's national volleyball team. He was a participant at the Olympic Games (London 2012, Rio 2016), and he is a 2018 World Champion, 2009 European Champion, a gold medalist of the 2012 World League, silver medalist of the 2011 World Cup, bronze medalist of the 2011 World League, 2011 European Championship and 2015 World Cup, three-time Polish Champion (2009, 2010, 2011) and Italian Champion (2014). In 2019, he became the first volleyball player to be voted the Polish Sports Personality of the Year.
In 2014 he was a member of the Polish national team during the 2015 Men's European Volleyball Championship qualification, but then did not get a chance to play in the World League. He was not included in the Polish national team's 14-player roster for the World Championship, held in Poland.[14]
After year of break, he came back to national team on May 28, 2015 during first match of intercontinental round of World League against Russia (3-0).[15] He was top scorer of match (15 points). In 2016, Kurek played in Olympic Games Rio.[16]
On September 30, 2018 Poland achieved title of the 2018 World Champion.[17] Poland beat Brazil in the finale 3-0 and defended the title from 2014. Kurek received an individual award for the Most Valuable Player.

One of my favourite Polish players. His volleyball career wasn't always that glorious, he was known for some time as the spiker who is definitely foing to ruin the service and he wasn't always as good as he is now. He was even dropped from the national representation at some point but he made a huge come back when Stephan Antiga took over our national team. He was shining during these matches, showing his full potential I haven't seen earlier. His MVP title was so deserved. He is one of those players that I admire for grit and passion for volleyball greater than his ego and his failings. He overcame them and became one of the greatest players for Polish national team. I have a huge respect for him.

Actually, he was dropped by Antiga in 2014 and eventually restored to become a HUGE player by Heynen in 2018 ;-) He is a natural born talent with great physical conditions and poweful spike. Gold medal and MVP in 2018 well deserved!

Not true. Bartek's attacks were amazing because the ball was received great by Zatorski and set even better by Drzyzga or Kubiak. Szalpuk played really well in attack and defense. And let's not forget about amazing blocks made by the whole squad. Volleyball is a team sport: this is what Kurek keeps repeating - single players, no matter how big stars they are, don't win matches, let alone the tournaments.

The trainer's problem is not whom to take but whom not to take to the biggest tournament and its each match...
Bartosz Kurek in 2018 performed grate and proved his talent in almost all games of WCh.
Kubiak is a true Captain, when he's missing somehow the spirit is gone.
Without all 6 great great players on the highest level on court during all games Poland would not win.
Game Poland vs. the USA in semi-finals showed who is tougher and has greater will to fulfil their dreams. Both teams played their life-match.
Poland in final vs. Brazil pretty much deserved and all titles given during this tournament very accurate.
Who watched all games remembers surely.
Proud of Polish National Team!

You have to understand the context here. We haven't won the world cup since the 70s and Brazil was for a very long time unbeatable by anyone. I remember one Worldcup when Poland won very single match - except the one with Brazil. Brazil is known for their high level of volleyball and if a Polish team was ever beaten - it was by Brazil. So yeah, plays against Brazil were very important and meaningfful.
