Floydtastic 👏👏 Another great recipe destined for the eagerly anticipated Tweedy Outdoors vegetarian cookbook. Mr Fox is always a welcomed visitor. Delightful 👍😀🍷
Sorry about that! Part of the reason for doing the chopping at home is that I was cooking in a city park, and I'm a bit wary of carrying a knife around when in town!
Thanks Séan! The opportunity to get close to foxes is one of the big benefits of urban parkland like this - a proper rural fox would never be so comfortable around humans.
I thought that looked delicious. Mrs WC21 (UK) Productions Ltd had doubts about the potatoes, but clearly she was wrong as you scoffed the lot! Amazing footage of the fox, who seemed entirely comfortable in your company. Mrs WC21 (UK) Productions Ltd absolutely approved of that!
Yes I agree with Mrs WC21 on the inauthenticity of potatoes in Boeuf Bourguignon but it was a pragmatic compromise for this extreme survive scenario! Who am I kidding? I was in my local park! Yes that fox and I have established a bit of a rapport, and he or she (I can't tell) often swings by to say hello if I'm still lurking about in that bit of the woods once all the dog walkers have gone home and it starts to get dark. A friend of mine describes foxes as "cat software running on dog hardware" which I think is brilliant. I know not everyone's a fan but I find them spellbinding.
@@tweedyoutdoors that’s an excellent analogy - they do display very catlike qualities. Years ago I was walking in the Chilterns and sensed a presence - turning round, I was face to face with a blood-spattered fox in the hedgerow. He was tucking into some bird or other. We locked eyes and it was very much a case of first to blink loses. I lost.
Lovely, understated and gentle, glad the rain held off. That birdsong was really nice as was the visit by foxy. If not a Floyd bourguignon certainly a tasty looking dish.Thank you.
This is one of the (very few) upsides of this kind of urban parkland compared to genuine countryside - I don't think a proper rural fox would ever get that close.
I used to do allsorts of outdoor cooking at the local park and woods but that was 'pre Covid'. It all seems to of stopped. Must get back doing some. Used to get really strange looks from other in the park when I started to cook a three course meal lol. That BOURGOGNE HAUTES CÔTES DE NUITS "Clos des Dames Huguettes" 2018 I have might just be right for putting in that meal lol
I find food always seems to taste better cooked outdoors, I don't know why that would be - perhaps partly just the added sense of achievement? ...and yes if all else fails good to know you have one way of using up that potentially faulty wine! Although fingers crossed they're not all bad.
Another great episode of cooking in the wilds. just as I was longing for more drone footage, you brought out a robotic fox. So it looks like tweedy outdoors has a props budget. It looked like an expensive hampstead fox.
It's in the woods on Hampstead Heath in London. It's not exactly a city park in the conventional sense - more like a little patch of countryside that was left alone when the city grew up around it.
Hi John, that looked really great, how did it score on the expectationometer? I'm giving it a solid 9 subject to tasting the left overs ...... oh ..... just remembered the empty pan ..... I've tried doing this at home in pyrex dishes but nothing quite beats a ceramic bowl thingy which you use on the hob and then in the oven. Happy to see the potatoes I would be tempted with somed beans. You looked drier than at Stonehenge!! Have a great weekend!!
Thanks David! At home I'd cook this in a Le Creuset pan, which, as you say, can go in the oven as well. I love it but it's so heavy! Which sadly rules it out for outdoor cooking.
At this time of year I tend to carry a tarp when going to sit in the woods if there's even a slight possibility it might rain, but I usually don't put it up until it does. On this occasion I didn't want to be interrupted with that task when at a potentially critical moment of the cooking so I just did it beforehand. Mateus Rosé - now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time!
I completely agree food tastes better outdoors - maybe just the sense of accomplishment? I've made a vegetarian version of beef bourguignon many times (although this is the first time outdoors) and I think it works well with various different substitutes for the beef - I've made it with soya chunks and seitan as well. This one used "Quorn Steak Strips" which I think might be relatively new - I've often bought their mince and chicken style pieces but I hadn't seen these before. Of course fake meat isn't everyone's cup of tea so you could always add more mushrooms instead.

Thanks Andrew! I think that cook book would be of extremely niche appeal!
@@tweedyoutdoors Niche is good 👍😀
Irish stew with a french accent.......another excellent adventure with tweedy.......you are the king of outdoor dining....keep up the good work.
Thank you!
.....Sigh, no onion chopping ,another avenue of pleasure denied me !

@@tweedyoutdoors Mr. H ,..i would hate to think that P.C.Plod would be using their power of stop and search on someone wearing a 3 piece tweed suit.?
@@johnhiscott-walsh5198 I had muddy boots on, so they would have had good cause to suspect a ne'er-do-well!
@@tweedyoutdoors 😆
That was a nice bonus to see the fox stop by
He (or she?) is quite a character!
I might even risk a nip for a pet after all i cant catch what i already have 😁
what a nice visit from the fox - another entertaining video - thank you!
Excellent, Tweedy. The fox ends the occasion well!
He's a bit of a star isn't he? (Or she, I can't tell)
That food looked delightful. The fox is stunning, your channel is brilliant.

Great meal and location with added benefit of a fox🎉
Brilliant hope you enjoyed the chocolate! 👌
Fabulous fox footage!

Nothing quite like sitting under a lovely old tree.
I quite agree - and this one is a favourite of mine!
Thanks for the nice Quorn Bourguignon video and to Mr Fox who turned up. 👍
The fox seems to have been very popular judging by the comments! I'll try to get him or her to make an appearance in future videos.

Hahaha yes no expense spared!
That’s made me rather excited about using my new gas stove outdoors next weekend.
Oooh! They still feel like some kind of magic to me - that such a tiny bit of kit can allow you to make a hot meal just about anywhere.
Lovely - and not quite as grim as the weather on Salisbury Plain! But where was that? Or has it been asked already?

Watching this while cooking anchovies and puy lentils under a tree on Hampstead heath. 🤷♂️
Great minds think alike!
So, have I got this right: one puts a tarp up when one would like it to rain?
Nice boeufignon. You’ll be needing a Mateus Rosé with that, sir.
At this time of year I tend to carry a tarp when going to sit in the woods if there's even a slight possibility it might rain, but I usually don't put it up until it does. Ahh I'm a vegetarian, I've never made fakey beef bourguignon. Maybe I'll give it a go :)
Why does eating food outdoors taste so much better?

Keith Floyd the greatest tv chef ever, accept for the Swedish chef of course! 🍷🤔
Agreed! Although the Swedish chef's recipes were a bit harder to follow...
Traditionally followed with Black forest gateau......
I love Black Forest gateau! Probably a tricky thing to carry to the woods without it turning into a mess, though...
Barking
@septicwhelk3654 A fine line between eccentric and plain barking!
@septicwhelk3654 probably a bit rude to tell you what his mother calls him...
