      Absolutely stunning. I had goosebumps holding it. All that history. It would've been a sore loss for someone very wealthy back then!

    • @weedfreer
      @weedfreer 11 місяців тому

      @@TheAyrshireDetectorist it would be a sore loss for anyone owning it in this day and age let alone back then!
      Well, that said, there was a history of exporting golf bullion/coins across Europe as the price of gold fetched more there than here... conversely, the price of silver was often valued to be more here than it was there...sooo, can you see what people in the know may have done?
      😅
      History is fascinating...keep it up, looking forwards to what you're able to dig up next.

    24:06 looks like he’s on the horse path between the fields… I’d hunt there more than the fields.

    • @TheAyrshireDetectorist
      @TheAyrshireDetectorist  11 місяців тому +1

      That's a great spot! I never even noticed it thought about that. It does.look like a track way of sorts. I just assumed it was where the farmer had stopped ploughing

    • @88997799
      @88997799 11 місяців тому

      They need spots to cut around the farm fields… those long grass areas are old horse and walking paths. Or they’d have to walk through the field. Stay on the path!!.. 😉
      The gold coin most likely fell out of someone’s pocket who is riding a horse.

    Never understand why people don't fill in their holes it takes seconds to put back with your foot, great video was ment to be on that dig n all maybe see you at another group dig

    • @TheAyrshireDetectorist
      @TheAyrshireDetectorist  11 місяців тому +1

      It beggars belief Michael. As you say, takes about 10 seconds to put it all back in. That was 1 of about 5 I walked over. Obviously from a previous dig. I couldnt even fill them backmin as the soil had flattened down and was sodden.
      Yes definitely, I should be up at another one soon, pleas pop over if you spot me for a blether 👍🏼
