I think Joel Sherman has a good handle on Yankee world. He has a real approach to the inner workings of Yankee management. He also is a good judge of their talent.
Sherman is great. After the World Series when he said - the Yankees give up 90 feet like they don’t give a fuck. I laughed then thought about it for a few seconds and thought to myself - wow that’s a perfect description
Joel Sherman > John Heyman ~ just sayin ~ Yanks are already better than last year ~ Fried over Cortes & Williams over Holmes (with no constantly missed balls in RF)
We still need a second baseman or a third baseman, a backup catcher who can throw runners out, and a solid defensive lefthanded leftfielder who can hit
Jazz 2B ~ Cabrera 3B ~ Trevino is gone ~ the Yanks have an outfield that made the WS, so more is not really needed, but possible. If not, LaMaheiu at 1B, Bellinger in the OF.
Incorrect. Because of the Yankees surpassing the Luxury Tax threshold and signing Max Fried they have forfeited the compensation picks they would have received for Soto leaving. Those picks would have been in the 4th round anyway, so not great
I like vacation-mode Joel! Pulls no punches and is very direct with his no BS language lol. Also, he mentioned Peraza and Rice, but why is every always forgetting about my boy Cabrera?!? He played more in 2024 than the other guys and has been consistently on the ML roster since 2023. What's up with this oversight and what am I missing?? I really like Oswaldo
The Yankees should Kim from the Pods to play second base. He doesn't have a qualifying offer attached. Then the yankess should trade for Josh Nayle to play first. His glove is good but his left handed bat at Yankee Stadium can easily translate to 30 plus homers.
I just started getting into baseball after 30 years. Have been in he military and gone so never had time to keep up. We didn’t have to and stuff I learned looking at baseball cards and just understanding statistics. Now that’s old school stuff before automated figuring things out.
good move getting a left handed bat in this lineup a guy that can play 1B/OF i like it hopefully some of that power comes back at Yankees stadium which should. that short porch in RF will help Cody but we still have more work to do we need a 1B/3B depending on what we do with Jazz. we can stay with a in house option with Rice or sign cheaper options like Santana, Goldschmidt maybe trade for Yandy Diaz or Nanthaniel Lowe. maybe Santander is a option he only played a few game there last season but his bat too me is appealing. and the only reason you would sign him just to make up that power loss from Soto.
Will Bellinger get stronger and improve?? He doesnt seem to work on conditioning...the upper body and shoulder area to be sure.... he cant get around on the fastball....He can still time an offspeed pitch and guide it over a wall when it comes down in the middle of a the zone but he was overmatched vs. pace...
I think that we should focus more on incentive contracts it’s these players. If I could sign some of these player to contract expectations their would be. Better handle on the overall mount of money we pay players and make it better for younger players and in the minor leagues to move up. That would solve problems like Alonso etc
so far the Yankees off season has been a successful one if we can dump Stroman's contract that would be a plus. but then again we should keep him for depth but to be honest i really thought Durbin would be our 2B, since we traded him away i hope we sign Williams long term.
I was thinking the way they were going was mantle and Maris type of teammate combo. I see it’s judge and we add other players in there to see who is going to be his robin to Batman. I’d keep judge at RF save him not wear him out he could be around for along time I played RF 3rd base a few times so I understand if your a strong hitter there going to put you in RF. Yeas I was a good hitter. But I see we need defense we don’t need sluggers we got judge, it keeps the stadium full, we need people who can hit singles, doubles, triples. And defense the Yankees played horrible defense in the World Series.
I like the team makeup. Losing Soto is a blessing. I doubt the Yankees can improve the overall roster with money tied to Soto. Now with abt 25mil left now go get Bregman/Walker n trade Stroman
The following is just my opinion. I am originally from Long Island NY and I have been a NY Yankee fan my entire life. I think Codi Belinger was a great addition to the Yankees. But I think the Yankees must do much better. I thought the Yankees missed out on a great opportunity to get Kyle Tucker. I was shaking my head - NO! Anyway the Yankees must put together a team that will not just get to the World Series but WIN IT! In 2024 the Yankees were crushed by the Dodgers. Yanks were humiliated. I remember the days when the Yankees had the will to win! I remember “Mr October” (Reggie Jackson) back in the 1977 & 1978 World Series. I remember the days of Yankee short stop, Derek Jeter. THE YANKEES HAD THE WILL TO WIN! But in the 2024 World Series Aaron Judge was terrible (offensively) and Soto was not much better. The Yankees did manager to win one game where they scored 10 runs. But basically the Yankees were soundly defeated by the Dodgers. The 2024 World Series was plain as day folks. THE NEW YORK YANKEES DID NOT HAVE THE WILL TO WIN! Plus I thought for sure they were going to replace Aaron Boone (Yankee Manager) with a better manager. But it looks like Boone will be the Yankee manager for the 2025 season. Well, we will see what happens in 2025. Who knows?
I agree I’ve watched highlights over and over the Yankees killed themselves on defense, and I don’t blame that Aaron judge drop he plays RF so they put Soto in RF just to accommodate him so he could hit. The Yankees need a team and I don’t think Soto was there to be part of it honestly. He was there to just get his money up. If you plug these new batters and fielders in that we could have way better.
Out of the so-called 5 tools, Soto has one - i.e. he hits for power when he gets a hold of a pitch. That's about it. Otherwise he's mostly a hotdog showboat me-first ballplayer. Good riddance
I think Joel Sherman has a good handle on Yankee world. He has a real approach to the inner workings of Yankee management. He also is a good judge of their talent.
I’ve also said the same thing. I’ve always read his columns..the guy knows baseball.
Brilliant - more informative than all of the baseball shows I've seen this week combined.
He's trippin' on the LeMahieu scenario.
Cody's dad won 2 World Series with the Yankees, now its his son's turn.
It's a good sentiment but the truth is that his father watched the Yankees win the world series from the bench
Sherman is great.
After the World Series when he said - the Yankees give up 90 feet like they don’t give a fuck. I laughed then thought about it for a few seconds and thought to myself - wow that’s a perfect description
Exactly right, HELL NO TO BREGMAN AND ALONSO NOOOO
300% correct
No to Alonso. No defense, can not run. Would consider Bregman, but would be totally comfortable with Rice.
@@goshrim1 it just how you write the contract and I don’t agree with this comment
Joel Sherman > John Heyman ~ just sayin ~ Yanks are already better than last year ~ Fried over Cortes & Williams over Holmes (with no constantly missed balls in RF)
What an opportunity the Yankees gave themselves.
Good stuff fellas
Owners aren't rushing to dish out too big contracts to players going forward. That part's over.
Trevino will stay. We just traded our young backup catcher prospect to the Red Sox, Carlos Narvaez.
So nobody wants gleyber back huh
@@davidbee7060 I think the Yankees should bring him back on a two year contract and a team option for a third year. Just my opinion.
@@Ross-lu6sq I mean, Trevi wont be starting so his arm is a non-issue, and he'd under arb ~ potential trade bait come July
Yankees hit the lottery, losing greedy, self-centered DH clown 😂
100% correct
Dilly dilly
@josedomingues23 aww aren't you SPECIAL lol
The Yankee's get 2 picks due to Soto having a QO on him. So that equals the fried QO!
Incorrect. Because of the Yankees surpassing the Luxury Tax threshold and signing Max Fried they have forfeited the compensation picks they would have received for Soto leaving. Those picks would have been in the 4th round anyway, so not great
Need a left handed bull pen arm.
Will re-sign Tim Hill. Cheap and very capable.

Santander and Santana BOTH switch hitters too. Take either or both lol. 1 year for SlamTana and 3 for Tony Taters

Need another LEFTY bat. Arraez or Santander…….or both
Y 2 arreaz n 2 santander
They have the kid Jones that plays first base
Jones is a center fielder
bellinger could be Maris,Murcer and Granderson.....a good player who becomes very good( ALL star) at yankee stadium....built for park

Great offseason so far . Would love to dump DJ . I think thats a major issue that no one is talking about. Hes owed a lot of cash .
Ain't nobody want any part of DJs remaining $35 mil, not even us :/
@ truth
No santander.
Blow the tax out and sign Bregman and Walker. Bring back Kahnle and one more top reliever and win the World Series.

It's 29, It's athletic, It hits left handed, It rubs the lotion on It's skin.
We need a Mike Tachman type player
We have that in Trent Grisham
Sign Josh naylor for 1st,getter each year

Put Rice at 1b and bat him 9th
Bellinger over Dominguez in center?
I know Verdugo had a very subpar year offensively but do you think Yankees should bring him back on a one year "pillow" deal?
Clay Bellinger was a superb utility guy.
I think Vinnie Pasquantino would be a great trade candidate
