Or just turn down the bass. Most people that use these amps correctly run the bass at 4 or below. Many times depending on the amp you can dial out the bass completely and the amp still sounds spectacular.

.68 and 25, where is there more difference, in the first stage or later? Where is switching the most effective? Other tweaks to sculpt the fatness it brings?
@@zabtej1645 more difference in first stage for sure. 25uF is too big typically for a high gain circuit on first stage, but I’ve seen it work. Try 1uF on first stage. It adds more low mid punch over a .68. If you want to tweak the fatness substitute a 5uF or 10uF for the 25uF on V2A.

Yes it's all stock other than a 25uf cap on the v2a cathode. Some of these old amps have more gain than others. This is a pretty good one. The PS100 does not have a boost, only presence and depth controls. For a 1987x I'd convert it to cascaded gain stages like a JCM800 and convert one of the stock volume knobs to a master volume. Then do the Friedman Jake E Lee mods to it which are fairly simple. You can see my other videos for a demo. I did those mods to my 1980 JMP and it has plenty of gain!

@@Ratso_DeLynch Well this amp doesn't really have any mods (other than the cathode bypass cap which doesn't add much) so the gain you hear in this clip is basically stock gain. People don't realize how much gain these amps have in stock form. I pretty much run all knobs on 10 with the volume on 6.5-7. That's it!
