Incredible info for anyone's retirement plan! Bocas Del Toro looks like a dream spot for an affordable retirement.
I use to do my passports runs to bocas , at that time it cost $5 to exit Costa Rica and $5 to get a taxi to the docks , $5 boat ride to the islands. Once I got there a little lady asked me if I was looking for a room- I asked how much and she replied $5 - lol and my first meal there cost me $5 . I always called it the $5 vacation. Enjoyed seeing the islands again in your videos. 😃👍

The average yearly rainfall in Bocas Del Toro, Panama is 107 inches. Seatle, WA 37 inches, Buffalo, NY 167 inches.
I stayed for 3 tears and found the locals to be cold and malevolent and the weather to be undesirable.

Another place the we can travel too for a couple of weeks to check out and I mean that is more for my wife to become comfortable with the country and safety. Moving to Bocas in early 2024. Very excited! We finf Tom's and Chitra to be the most reasonably priced restaurants for local food.
Thanks for the update. I used to do Bocas 20-25 years ago when main street was still dirt. That was the first place I thought about retiring. It has developed so much since then I can't wait to get back and see all the changes.
The food is amazing now. How was it back then?
The food was good but only a handful of restaurants. Very few foreigners were there. Also spent a bit of time in Boquete. The first time I went to Bocas, all the pangas were made of wood.

Bocas is more walkable overall but they are both pretty walkable. The difference is that many of the expats in Boquete live in expensive homes in the hills around the city so many of them buy cars. But the collectivos run through most of those neighborhoods in the hills in Boquete and were just riding on those. overall Bocas is more compact and walkable.
Hi Dan, I am curious how you handle that. When one wants to fly from the US to Panama one is required to have a confirmed return flight or confirmed onward flight arrangement. However, since you probably keep your departure (time & next location) flexible, I am curious how do you handle that requirement ?
Just Google "Onward Flights" A bunch pf companies will rent you a return ticket that lasts for about 48 hours. Just book it a few hours before you fly and if the airlines or immigration checks, the ticket is really in your name on that flight, it is real. They cost $10 to $12 USD.
I am guessing you can take the bus to Bocas from Panama City. I haven’t done it but have spoken with those who have. They say the bus is fine but it’s very cold. Apparently the bus is known for having great AC. People say if you don’t bring a jacket, you’ll be sorry.

You're pronouncing it chung instead of qiang which are totally different sounds.
I asked her. She taught all her international English speaking friends from the modeling world to say it with sounds they know how to make. She said in the fashion industry it is rude to insist everyone learn how to say things perfectly in a language hardly anybody in the world outside of China knows how to speak. You do know she has a channel right? Feel free to ask her.

I want the cheapest place to live by the ocean
As always a great source of info!!! I'm looking at trying Panama for the winter and if I fall in love with Panama then retiring there. I have a friend that is somewhat disabled, so I will need to find someplace that is disabled friendly. Do you have any ideas? Searching the net keeps giving expensive Airbnb. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The beers will be on me!!!!

Panama City seemed more disabled friendly than other parts of Panama, but they will still have challenges. Not all of the sidewalks or retail outlets have ramps.
