Billy Jack Chatroom Gathering 08/2001. 15 or so of us came from all over the country to LA. Tom and Delores made a surprise visit to our hotel. What a blessing of a visit! I’ll never forget it. GOD bless them and may they both Rest In Peace. Love ❤️, Pondlady
I love his movies, his message and spirituality. He inspired me When I was younger to always do the right thing and stand my ground. I've always felt like the protector of those that others bullied in school and all through my adult life. I say it like I see it and don't care if someone can't handle the truth. I hunted for years to find his movies and now I have all of them. Thank you for all you did for everyone, Sir. We need more people like you in this World. RIP Tom Laughlin

My grandma tells the story of me, at age 5, insisting that she take me to the drive-in to see "the trial of it"...I had seen & been mesmerized by the original Billy Jack at just 2 or 3 years old. I have seen it more times than I can count, I can speak every line. I have said so many times that Billy Jack was ahead of its time - the morality, the spirituality...etc...it still makes my heart long for all of those qualities in this present day and age. Thank you Tom Laughlin.
My grandmother owned a Theatre and Drive-In in a small town in North Dakota. I was visiting her for the summer and watched the original Billy Jack 13 times! I have that number indelibly in my head. I was nine years old. I likewise new every line by heart. This movie had such a profound impact on me. At the time my mother was divorcing my second Dad and I was so seeking a strong father figure and I think Billy Jack was that for me. I love you Tom Laughlin.
Understandable except for one thing; The law is not a person. It is a statute, and a principle. It is enforced by men, and sometimes bad men, but that does not give us a right to break the law. BLM is a perfect example of a people that have been hoodwinked into believing that anarchy is the answer. If we divide then we will fall. Civil war is like a man slicing his own throat. God has all the answers. Seek, and pray for your country. The Love of Christ JESUS is our answer.
RIP, you shaped my life and help me withstand things I never knew I would encounter. I was just a kid when this movie came out but the message has stayed with me today. One tin soldier rides away.........
You were such a wonderful man and have been my hero since I was 8 years old, when I first saw Billy Jack. I understood every single bit of it and cried my heart out at the end. It was my wake up call, my "call to arms" and the beginning of my "freedom fight." Thank you Tom, for helping me see the truth, the lies, the difference in "good" men and "bad" men (and women) and the world as it really is. I've been a loyal freedom fighter ever since.. You are greatly missed, the world lost a truly good soul the day you passed away. R.I.P A'ho

Billy Jack is one of my favorite heros. His use of martial arts reflected the proper use of it, for a "just" purpose. The stories were about morality, something lacking in today's films! As Tuckle said, Billy Jack films need to be required viewing in schools to teach youth about honor, justice, and living a meaningful life!!!

I have to say he had the "look". The "magic eye." What's the look? It was in his eyes, "don't f--- with me or pay for it dearly." For back in those days when he made the Billy Jack movie people were just beginning to learn about martial arts. His first movie, I believe was "Born Losers"? Nothing, compared to "Billy Jack" though. Awesome guy.
This is really Tom Laughlin's channel? If so, I just wanted to say I watched the Billy Jack series when I was a kid. I loved your character and what he stood for. He stood up for the helpless and oppressed regardless of the price he might pay for doing so. He never compromised his principals. Thank you for creating life to this superhero.
When I walked out of that movie at age 13, I really did feel 10 feet tall. I don't think any film ever made me feel anywhere near like I did when I saw it. The biggest part for me was that he was a true hero, and was tough as hell, and wasn't afraid to die. "You know me, and you know my meaning".

I also don't think you can say it's purely propaganda, because it explores the complexities of life, i.e., it's great to say you're for peace, but violence is sometimes necessary to combat evil. Your comments are very well said--and I agree with you 100%. I'm fairly new to the Billy Jack movies, but what I get from them is that they seem very real. People don't really behave the way we see them acting in movies--people aren't that perfect OR that dramatic, with every line uttered a pre-conceived thought, and every action something that would look good to the camera. Watching clips of the Billy Jack movies on this day of his death 7 years ago. I saw the original when I was about 14, the age of kids in the film. It made an impression on me of how wrong bullying is. I see that message being taken up now by kids of that age in Gen Z. Hope some of them discover his movies.
I saw "Billy Jack" in the theater when it first came out. and I was 12 or 13. I saw it over a dozen times - and it not only changed my life, it changed who I am as a person - for the better. I've tried to live up to these standards, speaking out for injustice, working against racism, etc., in my own small way. I can look at these and still be inspired, to realize that the fight goes on.
Well, one aspect is unique, at least I've never seen any other movie featuring such a thing, and that is Delores Taylor's utterly deadpan, emotionless delivery. Quite honestly, I still, to this day, am not quite sure whether or not her performance was intentionally as bad as it was, thinking perhaps she was playing it for laughs. Her performance was truly memorable.
What made these movies different was that the two of them were educators who made the movies to help change the way people thought...to educate the public. The sixties were a time of profound change that has been passed down to many succeeding generations, each more personally invested in the ideas of living not just for yourself but also to in some way to pay greater attention to the needs of this planet and it's inhabitants.
Loved the films. Loved the characters. Loved the message. However, we have all grown so old. I am younger than Tom and Jean, but I was one of the last of the baby boomers. I am now a weak old man. The ideals and dreams we once had are gone forever, replaced by the Tweets of today.
we all have something we have seen or hear about or live threw or see on news so relate to some thing in a movie can happen. ... but we each may have this in different ways. this film will do that for so many. and other films too 2020
Me too. I think I saw it in 71 at the drive in along with the Legend of Boggy Creek as the second feature. Road Runner cartoons and that crunchy dry boxed popcorn and hot dogs in foil. I was studying karate at the time so it connected. My son was a toddler in the car. Now he's middle aged.. What's that make me? :-)
I liked the movies because the message is "mean people suck" and Billy Jack makes them pay by kicking their asses. Good against evil. He's one of the good guys.
Gotta disagree. I was a teenager when this came out, and this movie captures the attitudes of the hippie subculture and the tensions it caused in society better than any other movie. Obviously it's a low budget movie, but that gives it a documentary feel that fits the movie's topic and setting. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece, but it clearly struck a chord with many people, or it wouldn't have found such a huge audience and still speak to people today.
Okay now I'm truly disgusted. The movie Billy Jack came out when I was a young teenager. I found it a memorable movie and thought I would watch it again when I came across it on TV. I'm disgusted! After watching it again, I go to their website and see this headline "Why I resigned from the Academy because of Star Wars ... and would do the same today because of Argo". So they have the unmitigated gall to criticize any movie when their own movie shows animals being injured and killed...more

RIP, so sad. I can't believe how quickly he aged.
+breckandy LOL that wasn't quick, this film is almost 50 years old
Guess I hadn't seen him in a while
this film came out in 69 I think, went to the drive-inn to see it, wow time flies
LOL
billy jack todo un heroe gracias tom laughlin por crearlo
I liked the movies because the message is "mean people suck" and Billy Jack makes them pay by kicking their asses.
Good against evil.
He's one of the good guys.
I only wish he could've made that other Billy Jack film. Godspeed, Mr. Laughlin.
So they have the unmitigated gall to criticize any movie when their own movie shows animals being injured and killed...more
Thank you for such creativity
RIP. Left us too soon.
BigTed5
No get real Ted..he lived a full life of 82, that wasn't too soon. Now an age in the 20's through 40's, ok now that would be young. You and others that say that BS, talk as if we humans live a few hundred years. ( 125- 200+)
I talk to old people in their 70'-80s, my age of 60, and they go, " oh your still a young pup, WTF.. your telling me that 70+ to whatever is old, but 60 is young.. considering that most senior people die between 70- 85. So basically I have another 10-25 years to go before im old and dwindle to forgetness..but as for now Im young.. lol.. you people crack me up!
I am a great writer and choreographer, I wish I could re-write this according to present day conditions!- RIP Tom Laughlin, Billy Jack
