Dara deserves to be in jail. Kalanick deserves to be in jail. All these years, this illegally founded business has been allowed to operate, with the blessing of Congress. And what did it get us? Question why do some Uber customers have a four digit code ? The driver types it in… in order to start the ride I don’t understand the point

Some people are paranoid and dumb that verifying a license plate isn’t a good enough safety measure so they make up a code in order to start

The point was for safety of customers so someone can't use the Uber's account fraudulently. Also, there have been some claims that Uber driver's have picked up the wrong person or started the ride in an empty vehicle and drove off without the customer.

Also keep in mind that customers are notoriously not where they are supposed to be and drivers have waited for them and when the time elapsed cancelled the ride and drove off. Well, then the passenger is charged $5.00 as a cancellation fee. The driver's whose time was wasted makes $3.78 of that $5 on Uber and only $2 on Lyft. And that's waiting for a total of 7 minutes as 2 minutes is given as a grace period.
