Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 чер 2024
- Hello there, in this video we take a close and in depth look at my tropical aquarium. We take a brief look at the history of the aquarium, but mostly at the plants and animals that are currently living in this planted tank. These include: German blue rams, cardinal tetras, black phantom tetras, leopard danios, kuhli loaches, cherry shrimp, amano shrimp, snails and hydra, for the animals.
Enjoy!

Don't put that kind of pressure on him lol
@@Brainplastics oh nah its not like I'm only looking for quality videos or something, just the fact that he's passionate and interested in what he's talking about makes it worth watching
@@goobas yeah that's what I love about his videos, it's stuff he actually cares about and not just random things that seem interesting. I was mostly joking but I hope he doesn't feel like he just has to entertain us.
@@Brainplastics oh my bad, but yeah it would definitely suck if he got burnt out trying to focus on pleasing viewers rather than talking about things he actually enjoys
“Family heirloom aquarium plants” is the best thing I’ve ever heard of. I hope I have something half as cool to pass on to my kids one day
I'm sure you'll figure something out!
I dont know why but I always pictured you as a old man. I guess your voice is just so calming.
I think he just graduated or is about to graduate from High School!
You too?
April Rants two years ago actually! I'm currently studying biology.
Same here, reminded me of one of my teachers from college.
I thought this when I first started watching this channel and I'm 36! When I first saw him I was like dayum!!
I really don't think its ridiculous to keep personal hobbies. Keeping hobbies personal can help to separate your private life and public life. A lot of creators tend to want to make all their passions public and end up losing a sense of privacy. regardless, fantastic video as always. Be good to yourself.
So envious you have a dad who, as well as obviously doing a great job at raising you, was passionate about something and passed it on. All my dad gave me was 2 hours per weekend and a receding hairline lol
Yeah it's cool to have a shared interest with a parent :) I'm so lucky to have a daughter who, despite having no interest in it, is really chilled out about my hobby...our bath currently has a full aquarium sitting in it while I check it for leaks and I'm so glad not to have had any complaints! 😂
I'm raising a handful of kids alone. I am a Maddy (mama/ daddy). Not all dads are great. Mine was anything but nurturing. He would ridicule me and make me feel worthless. If you long for a loving father, he is living within YOU!! He is waiting to show himself to you. But someday, you will be exactly what you long for in life. I hope someday u have a son of your own, so u will get to meet that wonder father..
@@prettypumpkin6891 I've already decided I'm not having kids since I have hereditary mental health problems acquired from both parents, so it would be unfair of me to pass on my broken genes to my potential kids. I wouldn't want them to go through what I'm going through. I'm gonna try be a cool 'uncle' to my friends' kids, though.
Oof felt that

Your tank is SO clean. I cant understate this enough, no algae on the plant leaves, no visible dirt or debris, little no no dead plant leaves. It's clear you take very good care of your tank. This is show tank level quality. Love your vids!
It's so cool that you have plants that have been kept in the family for so long.
idk but something about your videos make them so easy to watch and listen to. it's a combination of your personality, editing, and knowledge of what you share. you make it incredibly clear that this is your passion and it's an absolute joy to watch. Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching!
You're obviously doing a lot right when it comes to understanding and implementing a naturally balanced ecosystem to have such a successful planted tank for so long that isn't clogged with algae, all while next to a window, and without using ferts/high tech, or lots of water changes. And shrimp that have lasted years too!
It is wonderful, keep up the good work, and thanks for showing it to us.
I wonder if growing up with aquariums he maybe doesn't realise just how much he knows compared to people new to them. I bet there are tons of things he subconsciously thinks of as 'common sense' that I'd need to actively research lol. I love it, sharing his interest with us is so entertaining and inspiring 😊
You have the most soothing voice ever...
I agree, it's really easy to take in everything he says 😊

Great English. Humble to see so many people across Europe speak English when we can barely speak English in the U.K.
No just in the U.K.
We’ve got many people in the U.S. screaming at immigrants to only speak English in abysmal English. One video featured two such ladies, and when they were confronted and told they were ignorant, they shouted that they weren’t “ingorant.” 🤦🏻
The Netherlands is coincidentally the best English speaking country where its not a official language.
Unlike the Germans, we can't be bothered to dub EVERYTHING. So you catch up a lot of English from just watching TV with subtitles.
love your soothing voice. you're like a bob ross of aquaculture
"And I changed my mind because that was ridiculous"
😂😂😂
It's a beautiful aquarium. I've always enjoyed having different species in my tanks, never worrying about where their native homes were. I'd rather see fish getting along, being healthy and acting naturally more than something with a zoo feeling to it. Seeing more videos like this would be great, although I enjoy all your videos. They're well shot, very well narrated and interesting, and I enjoy your sense of humor. It's very cool that you're not only carrying on your father's love of fish keeping, but doing it with some of his original plants as well.
I love your attitude, and your approach to planning your aquarium. I too enjoy the water plants a lot, and the balancing of elements to let the aquarium look after itself, as it would do in Nature. I Love that you feed live caught food, and don’t mind if a bit of the food hangs around for awhile. I think you handle “long” hair very well...but then, I was a Hippie in the 1960s, when lots of guys had hair much longer. Your content never disappoints, for which I thank you. 🖤🇨🇦
These videos bring me such joy it's absurd

Always wondered what Steve Harrington is doing nowadays. Great video as always :)
Really unique YT channel and I'm very glad that i came across it! I did try my own project shortly after i found the channel 2 years ago. However when temperatures outside hit 40 degrees it all kinda died :(
Seeing elodea and vallisneria really makes my heart sing. They are underused in tropical aquariums.🙂
it's not ridiculous to want something for yourself! you don't have to share everything!
Ahh your aquarium philosophy is the same as mine. I used to have a fish room, almost a fish house, with many species in biotope aquaria.
My favourites were South American cichlids, African mormyrids, Australian brackish and Asian labyrinth + cyprinids ( danio, rasbora barbs). I also had 3 reef tanks. Some of my tanks were huge!
But having so many species became a chore and the pleasure was swamped by stress; I was overwhelmed.
So I cut down to just a few tanks, with rare bettas, danios and rasbora. I could keep these biotopes because my favourite plants were also Asian species - java fern, crypts, hair grass, buces and others.
I have a big influence from Takahashi Amano, nature aquariums. They are aquascaped but very informal and wild. The best thing about the wild betta species is they do not need oxygenation so no pumps or filters: just lots of plants, good lighting, low stocking ( trios) and a range of invertebrates to clean up. Self contained ecosystems that just need a little food and trimming. ( Like Foo the flowerhorns tanks, but much, much bigger ).
Oh and a pico reef tank, with just corals it's 6 litre (-search for Maritza the reef vase on UA-cam, its a 10 year old reef tank in a vase. I was very much inspired). Thanks for showing us your big tank, it's very beautiful and well kept. The age of some of your fish is testament to that!
That's a really nice aquarium. I'm glad you decided to show it.
I have a bachelors degree in Biology. Let me tell you something. Don’t ever put yourself down because you “want to be a biologist”. Your aspiration for knowledge and observation is much more admirable than some sheet of paper with the name of a university in it. A degree means nothing when you don’t have passion in what you study. Please, keep going and growing. You are doing an excellent job.
I agree.
I'm a senior ecologist myself with no formal qualifications. I just worked at it and made my way up. Have at it, work hars and you won't need a fancy bit of paper.
Bro got the Steve Harrington hairstyle, beautiful!
Liking ecosystems is a POSITIVE of wanting to go into biology! This stuff is super cool bro

I just got my first planted aquarium this week, I can’t wait to get lots of growth, yours is amazing!
i just had some baby guppies born today, and it reminded me of your guppy video. cant wait to see the f2 gen! :)
Guppies? I thought you said Doiritos! I ate them. All of them.. I am so sorry Cat. Can I call you Cat? Or Kat? Okay good. It's now time we talk about Noble 2 Kat from Halo Reach. How the H*LL did a single round from a Needler Rifle kill her? Why didn't her energy shielding save her? Well there's a few theories. The first of which, is simply that the Covenant glassing Reach (as mentioned in the game) produced a huge amount of radiation. This hypothetically could disarm a Spartan's shielding. It is a well known and documented phenomenon that radiation can disarm or destroy electronics. The next theory is that Kat, along with the others, did not charge their shielding because they assumed they were alone. This makes sense, considering the Covenant abandoned the city prior to the glassing. But I find many irregularities with this hypothesis. I don't believe a Spartan needs to manually and consciously charge their shielding. I find it much more likely, canonically, that their shields charge automatically. Additionally, if their shields did need to charge manually, I am confident that the greatest super soldiers in the galaxy would do so, even if they thought they were alone. The third theory is simply that the energy shields in the game are not necessarily cannon. This is the theory that despite the energy shields being [X] powerful in the games, they are not necessarily the same in the lore. This is done to keep the game fun, challenging, and balanced. Ordinarily I'd get behind this theory, and I do believe it to an extent. But my problem it's that even in the books, I highly doubt that a single round from a ballistic rifle could kill a Spartan. It just seems cheap to me, Catherine. I'd love to know your thoughts on the matter. Please comment your response down below, or email it to hotsexycorndogs33@aol

Sorry to hear about the copper issue - glad to see more videos from you :D
Life of learning...🙂 Stress is one of the most common causes of fin rot in Tetras. Stress can be due to a number of factors including overcrowding, overfeeding, moving or handling your fish, and putting them in an aquarium with more aggressive species or old fish/ "tank bullying" notorious fin nippers. Poor water quality is also another common factor. There is a product that can help them with water but you will need to check if it okay with the other species.
Just wanna say, if you ever change the logo, I will riot. Its the bow on this beautiful gift you give us.
Love the logo too!
Always run your tap water for 2-5 minutes before doing a waer change to remove the copper build up from standing in the pipes. or you can run a load of laundry or dishes or take a quick shower before doing a water change to flush the pipes. It also reduces the amount of chlorine build up as well.
This was a wonderful video and I’d love to see more of this kind of video
