What's not to like about this dark genius? Whether it is her electronica, folk, post rock, pure doom metal or all of them at once, she strikes a cord that few other artists strike. I absolutely love everything of her. Thank you Chelsea for bringing us to those dark places we have in ourselves.
I had to travel around 8000 fkn Km to see her live at a festival. Absolutely striking performance and one of the very best of that weekend. Dusk sent me to tears
I had an opportunity to see Chelsea in Poznań (Poland) on August 14th. Unforgettable experience. Her stage personality is something that makes you feel things on spiritual level. That dark silhouette - it's like a black hole trying to consume you with that beautiful, haunting voice then tear you totally aparat with heavy, dirty sounds of music. I was lucky to meet her after the concert and I really wanted to tell her all of this stuff but I was too nervous haha! I just told her that the gig was such an amazing experience. And she's totally sweet! She was very eager to talk to every fan who waited for her and also seemed very pleased after the show. Very mystical and intriguing creature. Wish I could have even half an hour conversation with her. Thank you for an amazing show Chelsea! Hope you'll come back to Poland soon!
I have had the opportunity to see her live twice. I super enjoyed. The fans were loud and cheered long. Many were dressed in CW imitation. The venue in this video appears to be superior but the crowd is lacklustre...
@@nataliaszwed5842 She didn't go out the stage or leave the main entrance. There was a backdoor near her tour bus. Suddenly a group of people left and someone said that Chelsea stands on the stairs and talks with fans. So I went :D
jdhxusbd Of course i believe you! But I was soo suprised when I saw that some people talked with her that night. I was just curious how the hell that happened :D
Thanks so much for this great concert video from Chelsea, here the comment in my own German language: "Nur wer bereit ist durch seine eigene Dunkelheit zu gehen, wird das wahre Licht zu schätzen wissen" ❤🙏🤘
I`ve seen Chelsea Wolfe as a support-act on the A Perfect Circle-Winter-Tour in 2018 and what can i say? It was mezmerizing, hauntingly beautiful and an out of this world-experience.
Euro tour info 2015 to present : Abyss era was Fuzzrocious dark driving, dod boneshaker, death by audio apocalypse, disaster transport senior, supernatural, pog, rolan loop, digitech delay, boss tuner, into an on board radial pro, into a (big? Lol) fender twin. Later shows, pre hissspun but with some of those songs in the setlists, she added a eqd talons, hummingbird & speaker cranker. Bass and ebow player both use afterneath extensively, but she does not.
As amps they are (usually, here i can see she's using one but the other guit using a marshall) using Fender Bassbreakers 45 heads with 2 2x12 cabs each, and i would say that is 70% of the tone already
The lighting here was well done. I was heavily captivated by it. It suited all the songs. Truly improved the music atmosphere, which was already so haunting by itself alone.
Chelsea Wolfe (the woman and the band) is a force of nature. Dangerous in its beauty, elemental in its depth. I have never been moved to my core by a performance as much as I have the times I've seen this band. Thanks to everyone involved in capturing this production!
She's pure haunting, black spun magic. I love the guitar sounds on her last couple of albums, I hope she continues in this direction. One of the very few innovators in American rock music these days. No wonder Myrkur and Chelsea Wolfe have recorded together, two trail blazers.
This cannot be real......she is so far beyond talented. Such bleak and gorgeous structures and textures.. I'm literally in tears . And the lighting !.....just wow ! I mean ....wow
I wanted to cry before chelsea stepped on the stage this is so atmospheric i wish i could see her live again and again her performances too intense and dark
Just found her like, 10 minutes ago....sounds like Bjork vocals over NIN tracks....but new! Very nice... Edit to add: well that got heavy as fuck real quick....can't wait to tour thru her catalog...
The quality and texture of her music is such that she can afford to leave out several of her more emotive big-hitters, which is something most artists would never get away with.
@@nethercords 100% - Trent jumped the shark by about Halo 27 or probably earlier... Chelsea has outpaced him on so many levels... American Darkness? Don't see Trent do anything as awesome, ever....
@@danieltripp2578 He just evolved due to his personal issues. Most of the bands do it. I'm not saying Chelsea did not do so but, she just went through a better path.
Fantastic performance, what more can be said?! What I appreciate about Jess on drums, is that every single one of her hits on each piece of her kit is done with absolute intention. You can literally see her making a mental connection with each hit. I don't think I've ever seen a drummer do that before, and I think it adds something more interesting to the sound overall.
The amazing thing is (and this is my second time watching this, so I have an even better pov so to speak), she has the most gentle echo on her vocals throughout most of this performance. That means she is responsible for like 85-90% of what you are hearing when she sings onstage, in contrast to the vast majority of solo artists / singers. She has such a great range too. That, my friends, is raw, rare talent.
I love the first time you hear an incredible artist! Those lil tingles up spine as the brain attempts to make sense of it....then you know youll be f'n with this srtist for yrs to come!
This “sound” is absolutely beautiful!!!! I can’t stop listening to this woman’s voice!!!! Omg I think I just found another of my top 5 artist of all time….omg
Devastatingly beautiful and haunting. They all sound better live than on record, and that's the sign of a truly great band and an equally good sound engineer. Thank you to all involved! These go to 11/10.
I drove 600 km to watc another artist, happy for that. But this was the artist i wil remember from the trip.. Never heard of before love her! (So much)
Young lady you are amazing. I only heard about from the jazzmaster interview .Being NIN fan from day one you are truly next level. Well, played well played indeed✌🏿👍🏿👍🏿
[ I think I've seen this live recording a hundred thousand times...not only that Chelsea is incredibly good, but also how the concert lighting fits the music. Minimal and on point... Congratulations and greetings to the light guy!! ]
This is awesome... less than 100 days till Chelsea's downunder, in smaller more intimate venues (tiny little pubs)! Can't wait... and it will be winter... the perfect season for Chelsea seasoning....
this is an incredible performance, so good, that I thought I'd never see a better one, until I saw Chelsea perform live last week, definitely on my top shows list ever...as for this show though, I don't think I'll ever have the pleasure of witnessing what she does at 9:58 during Spun in any other live performance
Daaaamn, this is perfect! Setlist is very good, light, sound, the performance of the whole band... That groan at 9:57 🖤 I hope I can see a show like that one day live in Germany!
If I were on a ship and through the red fog I heard her siren wail like on Feral Love you'd better be sure I'd steer it towards her knowing full well I would crash on the rocks and drown. It's so haunting.
My first really good intro to Chelsea and the band. I like it - I grew up in the 90's and I really appreciate how this feels. Her vocals (I'm sure I'm telling no one anything they don't hear all the time) remind me a lot of Bjork and the audio pallet reminds me of what would happen if the guys from Massive Attack decided to jump into these genres. She just hit some notes around the 10:00 minute mark that make me think it would be f'ing sick if she did a rework of Kemistry by Goldie.
Am I the only one who thinks this lighting engineer fucking killed it?!
Yeah he did
Right there with you man, jaw dropping
did you find out who is it? so good
Lighting is a rarely appreciated aspect of live music... you only really take note if the LD killed it or fucked it!
This LD KILLED IT!
I thought I may become an epileptic whilst watching this, the lights were mind blowing.
The things I would give to have seen her during this Hiss Spun era. Easily in my top 20 favorite LPs. What a gem
Her stage presence is actually quite intimidating
" Larks tongue in aspic " intimidates hipsters and posers .
I love how the audience at the start of the video seem completely unprepared for what they are going to witness.
We where 🤗 she blew me away though. Absolutely stunning performance. She is my queen now
Welcome to the CW army ;D
That is a problem with festivals ... most of the audience often doesn't know who's next on stage. I'm sure she found some new fans that evening.
She totally captivated the audience. They were not ready for this!
I love how confident her voice has become since the first concert I saw her perform.
1:34 that entrance with the opening of Carrion Flowers made my stomach feel like it was eating itself.
Chelsea does that to ya
same even the culling intro, what a rush...
Hell of an entrance 👏
