Well, if she's 16 and can write her own name in English, I'm assuming that the adults around her didn't stop teaching her to read or write at that point.
@@mynameisreallycool1 Yeah but WB knew anything that part is just part of the fairytale. Some of the more obvious reasoning you can argue is just part of the acceptance of a fairytale. If Ariel wrote to prince, we wouldn't have a story. Most girls were just to look pretty and most likely King Triton wanted his daughter to be protected than her being efficient on her own.
OK, but did you saw the poor unfortunate souls? It would be the equivalent of going to someone's house and seeing loads of rotten corpses , would you make a deal or stay closer that person? I would try to escape and call the police, if I was Ariel I would scream for my dad ...
I think Aurora's body was possessed when following the green orb. You see after she was crying and maleficent appears, she suddenly has this look on her face like she was semi conscious and wasn't in control of herself. She was actually in a trance and caused her to do so probably against her will.
In Rapunzel's favor, she did figure out she was the lost princess from recognizing the sun design from the parade and more impressive, she charted the stars to prove that the lights she was seeing weren't stars. And who are you to say her hobbies are not practical/useful?
Agreed. She maybe is naïve as she was totally isolated from the world, but couldn’t say she was really that dumb. Drawing star placement isn’t really a thing everyone would do, especially, in those times. 👀😬🤡
I would argue that there are a few moments in which Cinderella show a bit of wits. She has the idea to call Bruno to chase away Lucifer and she has the good idea to keep the other shoe with herself and show it to the duke. Nothing so impressive, but I think it's still worth mentioning.
I think it's also worth mentioning that you have a couple grammatical errors in your comment. She _had_ the idea; still, not steel. Also, I think royal duke should be there instead of stepmother. That's not a grammatical error; it's more of a factual error.
@@DavidRay_40 sorry, I'm Italian, I know English quite well but some time I do some error, I also wrote this comment while I was done something else, and that's the reason for the factual error. I will fix that. Thanks for make me notice that
This list is totally unfair to Aurora. She was hypnotized when she touched the needle! How could she had proven her intelligence then when she didn't have any control over her actions?
Vanellope is a quick thinker and she's proven to be clever and also cunning. It's quite similar to Mulan, she uses her brains and not brawns to win challenges. While Belle reads, she only reads fiction, not science or history. And Belle shows impulsiveness and is naive (like when she went to the west wing) she doesn't really use her intelligence in the movie, unlike Vanellope
Ariel is naive but she's not dumb. The very first time we see her she out smarted a shark. And then there's her tv series that show her more. She's rather smart just naive. Which is normal for a 16 year old also the factor of her being a mermaid. If you knew anything about mermaids you'd know mermaids do anything to get the with the person they're in love with. Whereas a siren is the complete opposite. That siren would be ursula.
I feel like Snow White wasn't really placed correctly either. As you pointed out with Ariel still being a teenager, Snow White was 14 during the events of her movie, so she was a bit naive as well.
YEAH, Super smart of Ariel to see the poor unfortunate souls and signs a deal with Ursula without reading it, It's the same as a 16 year old human going to a house of person because that person seemed a nice stranger, sees herself in a house surrounded by rotten human corpses, BUT STILL AGREES TO SLEEP IN THAT STRANGERS HOUSE and ACTUALLY SLEEPS instead of trying to escape or call the police

Yeah, he does have some wits and agility when it comes to outsmarting the guards, but other than that, Aladdin relies on genie, Abu, and the magic carpet for his power.
I'm a huge Elsa fan, so this may be biased, but she deserves to be higher. While the first movie doesn't show much beyond "You can't marry a man you just met," the second movie shows more than said here. The fact is, she is a very quick thinker. First, she got everyone out of town when she realized the elements were going nuts. Second, she took the initiative to go to the Enchanted Forest to see what was up. Third, she realized what the fire spirit was and communicated with it instead of blasting it with ice. Fourth, she figured out how to literally play a memory from years ago using her powers and the "water has memory" thing. Fifth, reins on the water horse. (Mentioned in video) Sixth, when she was freezing, she thought to send a message to her sister at the last moment. Seventh, when she revived, she immediately ran to protect her kingdom. Eighth, gave the kingdom to Anna. Definitely college bound.
It really makes us all wonder why in Frozen 2, Elsa’s own people were ungrateful for what they did for her. Take for instance, in that scene, where Anna (and Olaf) gave themselves the opportunity to put her down on a boat after they and Elsa (and Kristoff) had to go their separate ways.
Yeah, but a reminder that Cinderella keeps the glass slipper as a token to remember the happiest night she ever had, because it had sentimental value not because she wanted to be found later, she never had imagined that the prince would look for her afterwards.💎 👠
Ariel isnt stupid, her dream is to LEARN about the human world. She has a thirst for knowledge and to see how things work. She's also cunning and clever, seeing how easily she avoids sharks and doesn't panic either. This shows that shes been in a jam similar to that before, she uses her brain to get out of problems. She just made the deal with Ursula because shes in an awful mental state and is at the point of giving up. Her father destroyed everything she worked for : her collection. If you put any other princess in her place, they might've agreed to it as well. Put these girls in a state of utter despair first, For example, Cinderella had one last straw and would trade her voice for freedom and a happily ever after and Belle would trade her voice for an adventure in the great wide somewhere and so on..
Here’s where the train falls off the track, she can write her name so why doesn’t she write anything for Eric or if she knows that she has to kiss him have more romantic moments with him outside of kiss the girl? It’s not like Eric wasn’t willing because he literally says he’s gonna marry the girl that saved him.
During the time period Snow White took place in, when you are age 14 (Snow White's age) you are classified as an adult, and that was also the age most girls married at that time, so we can't really be that nice to her.

To be fair, Ariel was very upset when she made a silly decision. I'd still out her low, but I wouldn't call her dumb. Snow White certainly doesn't seem to know anything. Who's going to take food from an evil-looking stranger? At least Aurora had magic used on her and even tried to resist it at the end, pulling her hand back.
To be fair to Snow White, she was initially frightened by the Queen's disguise, but she also didn't judge by appearances. She thought the "ugly old woman" was being kind to her because she was kind first. Better still, she has no reason to think she was lied to, because everything she wished for came true. As far as Snow White knows, the ugly old witch was legit.

Aurora wasn't tricked, she was hypnotized to touch it, so she is not stupid... but surely unexperienced to other people since she grew up knowing only the three fairs.
Aurura didn't choose to touch the spinning wheel, she was "magicly drawn to it" she didn't have a say or the option to make a decision. But she is a bit dumb because of other things.

Elsa is definitely smarter than Anna, Anna all throughout the first movie showed how neive and annoying she could be due to her lack of knowledge. In the second movie she still did not understand the sense behind why Elsa can run into fire and go past the dark sea while she can't. Elsa's ability to construct a perfect ice palace without being very educated about her powers and the way she has dealt with the spirits show that she has a lot of brains but is traumatised by her parents, and by how they shut the world out from her.
I don’t think your being fair with Rapunzel, for someone locked in a tower for 18 years she is very smart. And once she’s out of the tower and you give her time she will be a lot smarter. Like in the tangled series, after a while in the real world shed EXTREMELY SMART!! Give Rapunzel some credit Please and thank you ❤
in Ariel defence, she's not born human so she's acted like a crazy tourist who just got amazed with everything she saw in the human world... Even Einstein will act the same way if he travel to a place where everything is different
Ariel makes Madison from “Splash” (another mermaid movie from Disney) look like Albert Einstein by comparison since Madison was able to overcome her muteness by watching TV for SIX HOURS in order to converse in English with her human boyfriend Allen; plus Madison was able to convince the construction workers that in exchange for her mermaid necklace (since Madison wasn’t carrying any cash), the male construction workers would haul the mermaid statue in Allen’s apartment room (either Madison has really good negotiation skills or that necklace is worth a ton! 😂): ua-cam.com/video/c7tWtBPqHq0/v-deo.html Ariel never questions Scuttle’s lies about human artifacts. Even if she’s not familiar with a smoking pipe, why would she think that it’s a musical instrument? Ariel is musically inclined so surely she would know what music sounded like. Ariel constantly forgets what things are called in “Part of that World”, as evidenced by the lyrics 🎶 I wanna see, wanna see them dancing, walking around on those…what do you call them? Oh feet! 🎶 and 🎶 What’s a fire and why does it…what’s the word…BURN? 🎶. Ariel gave up her voice to be with Eric whom she knew nothing about. She spied on him and was convinced it was true love. Typical teenager! 🙄 Ariel never bothered to take advantage of her muteness while she was on land like learning sign language or writing things down. In fact, if Ariel could write her name on Ursula’s contract, then why couldn’t she write her name down in front of Eric?
I do think you could argue for Cinderalla to be a bit higher on the list. She was raised as a maid, but as a kid she was raised as a noble, at least until her father died. Then is is shown that the step-sisters get lessons, and while they have to repeat a lot of lessons due to their incompetence, Cinderella is learning through the doorway. (In the film they are having singing lessons, they are loud enough that Cinderella knows all the words of the song and can sing along perfectly downstairs while cleaning the floors.) so while she isn't sitting in the classroom, she is still hanging around and learning, just not in the "formal" way but still receiving a formal education.
I can mostly agree, but one thing that has been forgotten is that knowledge and intelligence are two different things, your knowledge does not define your intelligence
Esmeralda would also be one of the most intelligent Disney ladies :D but also all of them kinda have different life styles, and different things to take care off. So I feel like sometimes it's not fair to say some are less intelligent but of course there is some of them who is making less intelligent decisions.
Elsa should be placed higher at least she used her clever thinking about for facing the dangers unlike Ariel. And next of all why does Ariel have googly eyes and give Ariel a break
Anna was also the one who wanted to marry a man the first day she met him; that sounds pretty dumb to me. She falls in the same category with Snow White and Merida: "stranger-danger". She should be e lower than Elsa or at least the rest.
Aurora was HYPNOTIZED when she pricked her finger. Also, she was cursed to touch the spindle literally the hour she was born. Have you even watched the movie?
How can you say the skills Rapunzel had aren't practical. She memorised three books, that would come in handy later in life as she clearly has a great memory. I have books that I have read many times but have never been able to memorise them.
She marries a guy who she only knew for a handful of days right? They didn’t even have one full conversation in the movie before the wedding. Doesn’t work out well in real life. Of coarse it takes two to marry…..
@@ChristinaaArmaniokay, they obviously don’t get married after 3 days, just because the movie shows it doesn’t mean it happened that way. They could have dated for years before getting married.
@jf k good point, I think she deserves a pot around average. I also think Cinderella (3rd movie) and Rapunzel (just watch when will my life begin and look at all the hobbies she taught herself) should be higher as well.
Say what you want about Snow White’s lack of good judgment but her original fairy-tale version is even worse because she fell for a variation of the poisoned apple trick not once, but three times (and, c‘mon, even lab rodents can be conditioned to learn from their mistakes).
Trying to rank intelligence when majority of these princesses suffer from trauma or having ignorant/overbearing guardians is a little unfair. Not to mention, the metric for intelligence is never agreed upon. Book smarts and street smarts are two very different things, but when talking about intelligence, only one is ever talked about at a time. Not to mention, majority of these princesses are 18 and under? There's several princesses I'd move around based off of "had they not suffered this traumatic event, how would they fair"? If Ariel's dad wasn't so overbearing without explanation, would she have been able to fill the voids in her knowledge, or would she have made the same mistake? Snow White was 13, not treated well and taken in by a bunch of guys who adored her, and was only with them a handful of days before the witch incident. Why would she know better if she was never taught stranger danger? IDK.
I always thought that Belle going into the west wing despite being specifically told not to by the beast was out of character for her since she's usually very well mannered and you would think that she would be wise enough not to break the beast's rules since he's the one that just imprisoned her and could easily throw her back into the dungeon, and she had already witnessed his anger problem
Cinderella is not as passive as you might think: 1) she stands up to lady tremaine multiple times in the first film, an example would be insisting on going to the ball, challenging her stepmother 2) she successfully escapes the tower that she is locked in by communicating and strategizing with the animals 3) she brings the extra glass slipper at the end, knowing full well tremaine will do anything to stop Cinderella from trying it on 4) the intelligence and bravery she exudes in the sequels are nothing to laugh at
If you want my honesty i personally think rapunzel should be on average and anna should be moved down lower. Did rapunzel get tricked by her toxic mom yes but she did however used clever thinking to save herself and eugene from drowning in the cave.
I find it weird how Anna was judged based on the second movie yet Elsa wasn’t? Anna in the first movie was entirely.. well, ignorant. Though I enjoy them both, I feel like their placement was unfair based solely on the lack of equality.

3:28 In Ariel's defense, can we be absolutely certain she was literate enough to write more than her name?
Even if she was, what could she have written that wouldn't make her sound crazy?
@@vetarlittorf1807 I saw a fanmade comic online that solved it. Ariel writes "I'm the girl that saved you. Kiss me and I'll tell you more". She then gives Eric a VERY naughty-looking smile. And the next scene shows that Eric has fallen for the scheme and their "happy ending" comes early.
Plus, there is a possibility she wasn't educated enough just due to the fact she's the youngest and most likely not going to inherit the throne since her eldest sister would do that.

@@queenofwales_ Series Rapunzel🗣
i’m convinced Aurora was hypnotised or something, not being able to control her body
While I agree Ariel isn't too bright, the lack of communication might have been part of the clause of the contract and not Ariel's fault.

Or maybe she just followed where the light would take her???

Aurora is such an underrated character. Glad many people in this comment section are giving her the respect she deserves.

I still don’t understand how venelope is higher than belle 😂
Vanellope is a quick thinker and she's proven to be clever and also cunning. It's quite similar to Mulan, she uses her brains and not brawns to win challenges. While Belle reads, she only reads fiction, not science or history. And Belle shows impulsiveness and is naive (like when she went to the west wing) she doesn't really use her intelligence in the movie, unlike Vanellope
@@everbooked exactly
Ariel is naive but she's not dumb. The very first time we see her she out smarted a shark. And then there's her tv series that show her more. She's rather smart just naive. Which is normal for a 16 year old also the factor of her being a mermaid. If you knew anything about mermaids you'd know mermaids do anything to get the with the person they're in love with. Whereas a siren is the complete opposite. That siren would be ursula.
I feel like Snow White wasn't really placed correctly either. As you pointed out with Ariel still being a teenager, Snow White was 14 during the events of her movie, so she was a bit naive as well.
you're right. She had no knowledge about the human world. Then humans should be the dumbest as they know nothing about mermaids

@@janamaltby Yeah, I think that Aladdin is pretty smart.
I don't see how she's dumb at all. She didn't do anything except want to protect people she felt like she was a danger to.
Cinderella had the brains to keep the slipper, keep it secret and show the Duke. You need to give her credit beyond just showing a clip
Agree big time! That proves that she’s smart
Thank you. I agree 👍 100 percent agree with you.
The only reason why Ariel doesn’t know much about human stuff because Scuttle the Seagull told her wrong.
I think Snow White's age should be taken into consideration since she was younger than most of the princesses on the list
Don’t agree still stranger danger she should’ve known
Also she’s like 2 years younger not that big of a difference
During the time period Snow White took place in, when you are age 14 (Snow White's age) you are classified as an adult, and that was also the age most girls married at that time, so we can't really be that nice to her.

As much as kida is underrated so is esmeralda and she needs to be an official Disney princess as much as kida does!
I was waiting for Esmeralda, if one includes Meg and Jane, they should also include Esmeralda
Except Esmeralda isn't even related to or married to royalty Meg is married to the son of the king of the gods and Tarzan is technically the leader of the apes so yeah but there are no royals in Hunchback of Notre Dame.

@@VNightmoon That's a fair comment. But nowadays, parents literally warn you against strangers offering you sweets.

By those rules LILO is a Disney Princess. She was introduced in a Disney movie that wasn’t a sequel. She did a heroic act saving the earth from alien invasion. She is human. Lilo and Stitch was a blockbuster hit. Lilo and Stitch is not a bought property.
I was cross that Esmeralda didn't make the list either. She sort of takes a princess role among her people and she's also kind and brave.

Thank you so much, i like this video😁
I've learned; mostly we could talk about naivety and mind quickness of these girls but not of their dumb/brilliant-nesses inclusively.
in Ariel defence, she's not born human so she's acted like a crazy tourist who just got amazed with everything she saw in the human world...
😂): ua-cam.com/video/c7tWtBPqHq0/v-deo.html
Ariel never questions Scuttle’s lies about human artifacts.
Ariel never bothered to take advantage of her muteness while she was on land like learning sign language or writing things down.
(In the film they are having singing lessons, they are loud enough that Cinderella knows all the words of the song and can sing along perfectly downstairs while cleaning the floors.)
so while she isn't sitting in the classroom, she is still hanging around and learning, just not in the "formal" way but still receiving a formal education.
I wouldn't say ariel is that dumb, making the deal with ursula even though she knew the consequences is more reckless than stupid
Tuca and Bertie Characters: Good To Evil.
Elsa was the queen for most of the first movie, and Anna became the Queen by the end of the second movie.
I can mostly agree, but one thing that has been forgotten is that knowledge and intelligence are two different things, your knowledge does not define your intelligence
They are not necessarily dumb, there are different ways of being intelligent and I think this video is not accurate neither FAIR to the princesses.
With belle she didn’t use her father’s machine to escape chip was the 1 that figured it out
shortly before UA-cam recommended me this video I said "Ariel is just a dumb redhead!" coincidence?
Elsa is smarter than Anna 😑 she wasn’t fooled by Hans and said you can’t marry a man you just met. After being engaged to Hans Anna married Kristoph
I have to admit I'm shocked at #1. I just knew it was either Mulan or Tiana. But I can agree with the rankings after the explanations.

I would’ve def put Belle higher
Surprised Ana isn’t lower. She _did_ accept a proposal from a guy she only knew for one day after all.
Kida is my favorite! I agree she should be official!
How can you say the skills Rapunzel had aren't practical. She memorised three books, that would come in handy later in life as she clearly has a great memory. I have books that I have read many times but have never been able to memorise them.
Rapunzel was brilliant most of the times in her journey, still don't understand why she's ranked very low on the list.
She spent 18 years reading just 3 books. It'll be surprising if she couldn't memorize them
Even though Ariel is one of my favorite princesses, her placement on your list is absolutely correct

Good one 👌🏼😀
IDK.
I love the Atlantis film it needs more love
My fave Disney film by far I'm so glad it's getting more attention
I always thought that Belle going into the west wing despite being specifically told not to by the beast was out of character for her since she's usually very well mannered and you would think that she would be wise enough not to break the beast's rules since he's the one that just imprisoned her and could easily throw her back into the dungeon, and she had already witnessed his anger problem
How is Anna not in the bottom tier???? The fact that she was deceived by Hans so easily should put her there.
Cinderella is not as passive as you might think:
1) she stands up to lady tremaine multiple times in the first film, an example would be insisting on going to the ball, challenging her stepmother
2) she successfully escapes the tower that she is locked in by communicating and strategizing with the animals
3) she brings the extra glass slipper at the end, knowing full well tremaine will do anything to stop Cinderella from trying it on
4) the intelligence and bravery she exudes in the sequels are nothing to laugh at
Me when I hear “there are a few exceptions to these rules”
