    Something about miquella I don't hear a lot of people talk about is how Gideon implies miquella's disappearance was the last straw for marika. Not godwin's death. "Perhaps the queen's sorrow was justified" is something he says about miquella being missing not godwin being half dead.

    • @apophisstr6719
      @apophisstr6719 6 місяців тому +49

      Godwyn's "death" could be orchestrated by Marika herself, since regardless of what ending we chosen except Frenzied Flame, Godwyn would came out on top as that one entity that influenced everything around Lands Between, even bounding the Greater Will's power with his now parasitic nature.
      Godwyn, even in his currently twisted state (which I think Marika don't even care anymore), is literally already a god.

      @apophisstr6719 hot take: i don't think marika planned Godwins death. One of the only things I think she sorta planned was the tarnished/Godfrey returning to the lands between and fighting radagon. It seems she could have even had that in mind before radagon even became elden lord.

    ***Fun Fact*** Miquella actually has a credited voice actor in Elden Ring, Naomi Mc Donald. She also voiced Stone Trader Chloanne in Dark Souls 2. You can actually hear her speaking as Miquella in Elden Ring in a pre-release trailer before that content was cut. I would imagine it will make it over to the DLC though.

    I’ve always thought of the lands between as an “ Olympus”, like a place for only the gods and Demi gods. That’s why the world is like an island and you have to cross the fog and it’s all pushed together, and I just love the idea of going into Miquella’s dream and seeing what the lands between was like before the shattering, or maybe just the world he envisioned and wanted to create. Also I pray you’re right about them basically reskinning the entire world cuz that would be worth this wait for sure.

If it was a dream then the reason for The Lands Between looking so different to the one shown in the picture of the DLC's announcement to could make sense as The Lands Between could represent how he is sort of fractured as person with his two personalities being St Trina & Miquella.

    O my, this might be one of the best Elden Ring lore videos I have ever seen. Subbed!
    Brace yourself, this is going to be a long comment.
    Rn I have around 500 hours on this game, and I am fairly observant by nature so I too have noticed that weird... out of tune feeling. That what we see and are experiencing is not real. It feels, yes, like a dream, or, more so, like an illusion. The lands between appears to be disfigured like a piece of land after an earthquake.
    The landscapes, such as the Erdtree, the lake in Liurnia and the Mountaintops, but really, all the Lands Between are impossible. They are so extreme in the way they are formed, but a bit too small to really make sense. Looking at some gorgeous views like at Lakeside Cliffs Site of Grace feels genuinly unreal in a way Dark Souls landscapes never really did.
    The people we find in the Lands Between are also like this. Disfigured, insane and whatever a lot of NPC's says seems very slightly like the ramblings of a madman. And many of the bosses and enemies we fight attack us for seemingly no reason. I would say this is because a lot of them (yes, even some of the strongest bosses and enemies) are scared. They don't recognize the world they are in, and massive regions have been cramped into by comparison small backyards. A lot of people have theorized Elden Ring's world is in canon much larger than in-game, which, while has some truth in it, I would theorize that no, the Lands Between WE find ourselves in is propably pretty similar to how it is in canon. But THIS is not the REAL Lands Between. Oh well, it is real but like a dream or illusion is indeed part of our minds, and therefor part of the universe we experiance.
    What I'm trying to get to is that the Elden Ring is the very RULES OF REALITY, and aftef Marika shattered it, well reality itself is broken. Vastly different lands and people have weirdly stuffed into a strange alter-reality. This explains why certain things in the game world that probably shouldn't exist at once do in fact exist simiultaniously.
    We are in a nightmare, where things just cannot change, no matter what we do. To understand my theory, I need to explain some things. Firstly, a hot take.
    When Radahn stopped the movements of the cosmos, he took away almost everybody's destiny. In many religions, the stars are considered guides for our lives, and in Elden Ring, it is described the Carian's destiny is controlled by the stars.
    But, to be honest, it's probably way bigger than that. I woukd say the cosmos is ESSENTIAL for people to controll their DESTINY. When Radhan sealed the movements of the stars, he may have done some temporary great deeds, but the consequenses over time are very dire. Taking away the imfluence of the stars and moon almost completely takes makes people go INSANE, because they do not have a destiny. There are severall other reasons why the people of the Lands Between have lost their minds, the only other I'm gonna mention being the Shattering War being quite possibly so devestating that it shattered the world itself, making everybody go crazy.
    Even after killing everybody in the Lands Between, nothing seems to change. And that is why Shadow of the Erdtree is going to be so incredibly thematicly important and powerful. It is the FIRST TIME we see what is actually happening. It's like, well, waking up from a nightmare unironicly enough. I don't know how the nightmare we are in makes sense, but it definately has sonething to do with the Greater Will. We are in for one hell of a ride.
    Hope you don't think everything I just said was wrong and have a great day!

    The thing that never made sense or more likely i didn't understand was that the farum azula ruins are scattered over limgrave's stormhill implying that Farum was once existing over Limgrave, but once we find Farum Azula, its not even remotely close to Limgrave infact it's one of the furthest places from limgrave in the entire game its on completely different sides, and what we find out about Farum is that it is a timeless place which is inside of this magical storm that doesn't let farum azula exist in the past or future other than this sort of pocket dimension, so than how come farum azula existed over Limgrave at some point or was there another structure similar to Farum azula. Another thing is that i found a quote from the fandom stating that "Golems are giant stone guardians hailing from a civilization now gone to ruin. They are said to have been made by a golem crafter, using an impure crystal knife not unlike the Crystal Dart."
    Who do we know is a crafter of things, a person who uses all kinds of tools to create objects like the use of unalloyed gold, Miquella, now why are there so many golem remains scattered over Limgrave's stormhill when we established that some sort of floating city used to exist, because either Miquella partook in the creation of some sort of floating city like farum or even farum itself, or he just decided to dump a whole lot of broken golems in a random part of the map, unless, they fell from some sort of floating mass, farum or otherwise. Another connection is that when you lit fire to the erdtree, it transported you to farum, i think that Miquella created a beacon which sends you to farum or something.
    Im so sorry for wasting you gentlesmens time if you read all this, most of it has so many plot holes that most of it shouldn't make any sense i just tried to word what was in my mind at the time of writing so yeah, also sidenote i do think that miquella has been watching us throughout the story even if his body is trapped or better if Miquella shared a fate similar to that of ranni's and his body in the cacoon is dead and his mind has been watching us and maybe he has posessed a lifeform that we have interacted with idk, just a guess but yeah maybe his body is alive and all this is made up bolix. anyway thanks for taking the time to read this 3 paragraph mess of shit or just skipping to the end i hope you have a good day, goodbye.
    Im not giving all the names and places capitals because i'm not writing an essay, if your that worried about grammatical errors than stop reading youtube comments.

    My idea of The Lands Between has always been that its some form of purgatory. Like a sewer system between multiple different universes. That’s why we see little to no actual physical evidence of any of the many “gods” we hear about. They got the other worlds to worry about, the lands between is just an afterthought kinda place.

    Something I think that might explain that feeling of the Lands Between being off - not real, might be that it's a condensed form of what used to be a much larger and more coherent continent.
    I believe that much like Dark Souls 3's "all of the world is converging at Lothirc" idea is similarly happening here - The Shattering caused the Lands Between to, as Jake puts it, fold in on itself, and create the current continent we have now

    Thinking about it, if we're already in a dream the name of the place we play in kind of makes sense: the lands between. "across the fog" could maybe mean the "fog" state when falling asleep. The lands between could mean in-between the dream and being awake, which is why the world is so jumbled and chaotic and things don't quite make sense. Or it could be in between dreams with the same effect.

    So after listening to your theory i have to agree that as we play the game, make our builds, become either lord of frenzy, elden lord, or herald of stars. we begin NG+ and so on as our build as if we are trapped in a loop and in that loop we are told that there are demigods total. Godrick, Radahn, Rykard, Morgott, Mohg, Malenia, Miquella, Godwyn, annd Ranni. and of those 9 demigods only Miqulla annd Godwyn are the only two we find in a nightmerish state. Miqulla in his broken egg and Godwyn in his deathblight root.

    Mohg's line talking to Miquella "you must abide alone a while" somewhat tells me that he is indeed stuck in some sort of nightmare situation. I also couldn't agree more about the vibe of the entire game is in a dream-like state!

    I'm not a big fan of the theory that we're already in a dream, however the point you made about the structure of the land is a very good one. It always bugged me how the land has these sharp cliffs, and all the rock seems really jagged and pushed together. It also helps explain another thing that's been bugging me; in spite of the game being huge, I always felt that, from a lore perspective, the lands between seems kind of small. We get descriptions throughout the game of massive armies marching through the lands between (like Malenia leading the march to Caelid), and I always had the picture of days long marches, but with the size of the lands between, these marches and wars really couldn't take long or be that big. I get the feeling that all these lands and locations have been scaled down to make it easier to the player, but it could also be explained as it being a part of Miquella's dream and this is just how he remembers the lands between.

    While i find your thought process both interesting and a possibility, the landscape of the lands between is ruined by the many battles that took place before, during and after the rise of The Golden Order. The lands are also probably compressed since there would be no need for a lot of open, useless land by a gaming standpoint (and file size)

  • @liamramsey4468
    @liamramsey4468 6 місяців тому

    I think the theory of the lands between being a much bigger continent like land mass that was literally pushed together makes a lot of sense. The moutains feel way too close together and they dont look natuaral, like they were scrunched up and smashed together. This would make a ton of sense with the DLC picture and how it is a vast open plain, the real lands between. prehaps that plain is limgrave?

    The story you’ve predicted here is shockingly cool and I would love to have more games make these nuts twists halfway through or so. At the same time, if this scenario were to actually become true that would mean that the true story of the game is locked behind a paywall, rather than just an optional side story being locked behind pay. This feels a bit scummy to me which is why I am a bit torn on whether I want it to be true, and also why I don’t think it will come true. Other than that, as stated before, HOLY EXCREMENT THIS WOULD BE COOL!

      @@TarnishedProductions That’s actually a good point. Previously they’ve sort of had side stories that could be ignored without missing much as their DLCs. Wonder if they’ll take this route instead, would be awesome.

      @xx_amongus_xx6987 6 місяців тому +1

      @@TarnishedProductions The difference is the DLC wouldn't be a continuation of the story, it would be completing the story in Elden Ring which is missing huge chunks of it. It's like if someone wrote a book and then made you buy the sequel in order to understand what you just read because some parts were intentionally left out.

    • @enman009
      @enman009 6 місяців тому +1

      @@xx_amongus_xx6987 Highly doubt Fromsoft will do that since most Souls DLC leave more questions than actual answers. But there's sequels that are really needed to make the story more complete. MGS2 and MGS3 completely recontextualized MGS1, to the point of making it pretty thin in comparison. Same with Spark 3 EJ recontextualizing its predecessor, or Dishonored with its DLCs.

    I have a theory that the area seen in the concept art is going to be the final boss fight arena, just like with gael, it's just a massive open field with nothing but you and the boss and some beautiful scenery. you'll reach the end of the DLC and be teleported to the very distant future where the entire land is dead, the erdtree fully consumed by the deathroot, but miquella's abundance allows for all those reeds to grow, and there you'll fight miquella or a boss related to him.
