No mention of how will citizens be engaged, it is not corporations and governments that accelerate change, but consumers’ awareness and new behaviors that make corporations and governments change and do the right thing. Were it not for public pressure, the likes of Exxon or Ford would never invest in new technology aimed at alleviating climate troubles. Recyclable and compostable packaging did not get started by retailers and supermarkets, but by people leaving it behind at stores for them to deal with it, which generated an extra cost for businesses. Consumers are in charge and need to continue putting pressure and demand change, otherwise the pace will never pick up to slow down our own demise as a species.
