Pete with Just A Few Acres Farm is an awesome person to learn from. He has tons of knowledge and experience, your homestead looks amazing. Y’all are doing a great job.
We sure did! We searched and searched for the right place, and Appalachia really spoke to us! We are so thankful to find an area and property that we love so much. Thank you!
Be sure to visit The Gap. My husband is from there and visit Martin's Station for great history. You'll love it. Have a great week! @@ThePasturedHomestead
@@ThePasturedHomestead no disrespect, but i want to do ask how do u get the money for 4 children and all the animals? Under Biden's America, inflation has skyrocketed and prices for everything has gone up
You two have taken to homesteading like you were grown on one. Proud of you. We are in the Puget Sound area so we understand what you left behind. Good for you. I subscribed today so I won't miss place you again. Busy time of year.
I have missed your videos but totally understand you are busy and enjoying family time. You kids have done a great job on improving the farm - congratulations!
Thank you for the tour! If you are learning from Pete @ Just a Few Acres, you are learning the right way. He is so knowledgeable, and a good teacher. I can listen to him, forever. Your farm is beautiful. You picked a good one, imo. Best wishes, in all you do.
I am glad that you have Pete on Just a few acres to help you with planing your pasture rotation strategies. Keep up the good work. Jim and Lisa Geneva Ohio.
Zach great to have a update on how things are going on the farm. So much has been accomplished in a year and it suggests that the two of you are very focused young adults with a plan to accomplish learning as much as you can in the process and applying those experiences in ways that makes life and management of a farm much easier and sustainable. Hopefully you all are able to continue generating nothing but best in your lives and on your Farm. Keep up the good work! May you continue to obtain, and be blessed with good health 🙏, growth, success and prosperity 🙏
Everything looks great on your homestead all the animals look great & happy keep up the great work & don’t apologize for being absent when it comes to your family ❤
Hello! I'm from Australia & I just wanted to say I think you're one of the most humble Americans I've ever watched! I'm definitely subscribed for future videos, love what you're doing & how you respect your animals & land ❤👏
This is the first video of yours that I've seen, and it's so impressive! I know very little about farming and homesteading, so this was an excellent, thorough, and enjoyable introduction for me. I hope everything is continuing to go well for you!
Great video ! I’m new here and a long time viewer of Just a few Acres. Pete is the best to learn from. Thank you for sharing ! Looking forward to your future videos ! 👏😀❤️
New to your channel Zach, nice layout with the buildings, will take time to do the things you want but oh my at the finished product, good luck on your next project, be safe.
Come on cows! Love a few acres farm and Pete's lame dad jokes, lol. Happy to see a new update from you and how well your homestead is doing. I look forward to the house update. Oh no! Trim work to finish? I've lived in my house for 20 years and there's still trim work!😅 .
This is my first video to watch! So exciting to find you guys. I am looking forward to watching and catching up. That is awesome that her parents are moving close to you guys!!
Hi Zach, glad that you both took the time this summer to host family and enjoyed your time together. Teddy seemed to be your shadow for a good portion of this video. Glad to hear that everything is going well and great to see all of the additions to the homestead. It is always nice to see animals in a healthy environment with plenty of room instead of living in an enclosed area. Looks like you guys are doing great so best wishes to you and Ashlyn.
thanks for the tour. just saw your channel. i was raised on a ranch in North Carolina when my brother still lives. I am dreaming of leaving California to roam on some land again. Help my adult kids raise their families. keep up the great work! how about some horses!!!
Ya’ll have come a long way in a year!! We have been on our place coming up on our 3rd winter and we are still “bootstrapping”…. I wish that I was even HALF as squared away at 26 as ya’ll are. We are retired now, and are just 3 years into our homesteading journey..
I am so proud of you guys. My husband and i have lived in Kentucky all our lives and we have traveled alot but no matter where we go when we come back home to Kentucky it is alot like i imagine heaven will be like....perfect.
I was a garlic farmer...Anyway Buy a sprayer for the tractor and it will manage the weeds with 24D Chem to get rid of weeds. Tiller is your gardens best friend especially for the garlic love tilled dirt for huge bulbs. ....
I enjoyed the video gonna watch another I subscribed. One thing I would move those cows about every 4 days because that's when the dung beetles hatch and you have problems. also moving the chickens around behind the cows by 4 days they will spread the manure and eat the beetles
Good to see you again I've missed the videos too. On Canning you said you don't have a pressure canner but you've been water bathing everything and that you are new to this. Not to sound negative but I do hope you have a Ball Canning Book and are following USDA standards for canning there are a lot of low acid foods that can only be pressure canned such as green beans, corn and potatoes just to name a few. A lot of people do Rebel Canning so your kitchen your rules but just wanted to throw that out there since you are new to canning. Anna In Ohio
We just had a family get together and all the food came from our farm! Yes! It is a great feeling! Fyi-we put electric fence around our sweet corn this year because last year a family of racoons ate all of it just as it was ready to harvest!! We did a low wire and one a bit higher. We love frozen sweet corn all winter long. Did you plant potatoes? Another good and easy harvest. Just found your channel and subscribed. Best wishes this winter!
27:45 Awesome Content! 🎉 How long before you guys are self-sufficient? What are some products that you’re still buying? Maybe feed, fertilizer, grains?
Did you know that black locust also makes AWESOME timber to build creative things with (often used in playgrounds), especially when used as roundwood. Also great for fencing and posts etc. It's fast growing, doesn't splinter and its heartwood has a durability class of 1-2 so it'll last at least 40 years above and 25 years underground! Just make sure you remove all the sapwood cause that's worth less than cardboard.
New subscriber Love your video excellent farm you have there Lots of room We'll be watching more of your video love it So stay safe and have a happy day
We found with our egg birds that we only let them out to free range after lunch That way we never had to go looking for eggs I have to say though our chickens lived in a coop 15 x 15 meters so they weren't distressed before they could go out to forage
I just came across your channel and had to drop this message because my wife is from Owingsville and still has family there. We currently live in Cincinnati.

You could use the saw dust to mulch your garden with. That would help to keep the weeds down.
If you mulch with sawdust, you need to add a lot of nitrogen rich materials.
